Oil temp or coolant temp? If it's coolant temp the first things to check are the coolant level and the fan. If both of those are ok and it's not just a bad temp sensor then water pump would be the next guess.

3rd brake light removal

This isn't a case of a "mod" that some people don't like. I stay out of those discussions. This is a safety and liability issue and I will comment on those every time. If you want to do something unsafe and illegal that could cause you to be liable if someone hits you from behind then that's your business but if you post it then expect comments. If you don't want comments then don't post it. -
Just curious why you took it in to the dealer if you got the package?

MFT report your successful installations or problems
akirby replied to exodus's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Did you do a master reset first? Try it again with a master reset. If it still doesn't work try downloading it from syncmyride.com. Might save you a trip to the dealer. -
Repost your reply in the correct spot and I'll delete this one - just let me know when you're done.

Navteq was NOT the map provider for 2011 and 2012 models. It was telenav. The software remains telenav apparently.

My Ford Touch update Installed!!
akirby replied to Candy Edge's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Someone else had similar problems and had the APIM replaced with no improvement. They replaced the APIM again and the 3rd one fixed it. This is assuming you continue to have reboots and stability issues or other issues that MOST owners don't seem to be having. I learned a long time ago that you never assume a replaced part is good just because it was replaced. -
Because they changed the Nav software and the map vendor.

My Ford Touch update Installed!!

For you. For others it seems to be much better (but not perfect). Will you PLEASE try to get the dealer to swap the APIM? -
That's not what he was saying. He was saying that the differences don't really affect the engine over the life of the vehicle as long as you change it regularly with the right specification of oil.

Hmm.....I believe the only ones not getting a package are the ones that REQUIRE dealer upgrade and you should get a letter stating that. Interesting to see whether it works for you or not. But if you can download the software and all you have to do is swing by the dealer and pick up the SD card that would seem to me to be a lot quicker.

I already posted it in the "report your upgrade status" thread.

Cleaning the black plastic lower body panels

I think wd-40 works just as well as peanut butter on plastic. It's the oil in the peanut butter that does the job. And peanut butter works better on people and wood than wd-40 would. -
MFT report your successful installations or problems

They were doing beta testing in January. I don't know why some of these things weren't fixed already - I can only assume they had bigger issues with stability and functionality that needed to be fixed first. -

BTW - you should expect a new release that will address a lot of the known bugs with this version. Not sure when but I would expect it within 2-3 months. When you have something this big you must freeze the code at some point in order to finish the testing. Some known bugs will not yet be fixed and there will be bugs found during testing but you don't have enough time to put those into the release without delaying it even longer. So you have to put a stake in the ground and let it go. Meanwhile the development team has probably been working on these known bugs for at least 2 or 3 months which is why I expect a maintenance release shortly. Focus owners seem to be having far more problems and as a result they've created a bug tracker website. I don't think it will really help much because I think Ford already knows about these bugs and are already working to fix them, but here it is: http://bugs.outofmytouch.com/projects/mft/issues?set_filter=1&tracker_id=1 -
MFT report your successful installations or problems

Have you tried disconnecting the negative battery cable to reset everything after the upgrade? If not then do that and also unpair/reboot/repair your phone just to get everything to a clean state. If you continue to have these problems then I am convinced you have a flaky APIM and you need to get the dealer to replace it. One person reported that they not only had a bad APIM but also got a faulty replacement the first time around. They cannot use the "wait for the software" excuse any longer. -

PM Rob (FordGuru). Ford did state that some early build Explorers and Edges would need a dealer visit but that shouldn't apply to a 2012 model. Let us know what you find out. -
Cleaning the black plastic lower body panels

You can do it yourself. I used a kit from paintscratch.com to color match a Ford aftermarket keyless entry keypad for my daughter's silver Focus and it worked great. And then she totaled it and replaced it with a dark grey Focus so I had to take all the paint back off and left it black. BTW - acetone will restore the shine to plastic parts that have been sanded down. You get a special adhesion promoter, special primer plus the normal base coat and clear coat all in spray cans, plus rubbing compound and cleaner. Just depends on how adventurous you're feeling. -
It's in the MFT supplement. Seek: Press to seek to the next strong radio station. If the current station has multiple digital broadcasts, the multicast indicator will display. Press Seek repeatedly to advance through all available broadcasts. If you are on the last multicast channel, press Seek to advance to the next strong station. Tune: Use to go up/down the frequency in individual increments. If the current station has multiple digital broadcasts, the multicast indicator will display. Use Tune to advance through all available broadcasts. If you are on the last broadcast channel, turn to advance to the next frequency on the band.

Not yet, but now that Ford has the MFT rewrite out the door it may show up in a few months. They have to give the dealers the ability to change the Nav bit on the fly (it's set to No at the factory and can't be changed via USB upgrades).
