  1. The factory numbers are at the flywheel - just the engine. The dyno numbers are at the rear wheels. You lose power going through the transmission, differential, axles and wheels. It used to be about a 20% - 25% loss but that's lower now. My guess is the CAI and cat-back only added a few hp to the stock numbers - the factory setup is already optimized. The tuner gains were most likely the result of advancing the timing which requires premium fuel.
  2. According to the docs I could find you have to purchase a separate TireCare warranty. It's not part of the normal warranty or Roadside Assistance.

    Bugs!

I grew up in Douglas. Small world.
  4. The MFT problem is unique because it's a software problem and car companies are not good at writing complicated software. Now that it appears to be stabilized and mostly fixed that won't happen again. Your opinion of American mfr quality is outdated. You can't use anecdotal evidence to say a mfr is good or bad - you have to look at overall metrics. Overall, Ford quality is very good and in some cases better than Honda/Toyota/etc. The problems that ford has now are typically engineering problems with one part (or software) or a batch of bad parts. Hubs and wheel bearings are a prime example. Early 20" chrome clad wheels was another one. All mfrs have these kinds of issues if you look hard enough. Toyota had engine sludge that they tried to blame on the customer and Honda had transmissions that would explode at highway speeds. Stuff happens. MFT was a bigger fiasco than normal due to the length of time required to fix it and Ford deserves all the blame for that. But in the end it's only one issue and it has been stabilized and mostly fixed and won't happen again. Same with most if not all of the other known problems. Once they're fixed they don't reoccur which is different than having a vehicle that just wears out or has a new problem every few months.
  5. Nope. It's bigger, heavier wheels with lower profile tires and the associated suspension changes. Has nothing to do with the lack of a frame or the wheelbase. Lack of insulation will cause more noise - that's what the MKX is for.
  6. True. But that is not a perimeter alarm. The perimeter alarm is only available on the Limited model. This was a change Ford made a few years ago (quietly).
  7. Lots of good threads on that here in this section. It's just a question of how much time and money you want to spend and how picky you are about the result.
  8. One person's harsh is another person's firm and controlled. It all depends on what you were used to.
  9. What did you drive before? I suspect your expectations are out of line for a modern unibody vehicle on relatively low profile tires. The ride is extremely smooth to me, especially compared to previous SUVs. What size wheels do you have now? If you have 18s or 20s you could try going to a 17 - the taller sidewall will help some.
  10. What Dingo said. You can get the same protection for a fraction of the cost on your own. These things are commonly called "mop-n-glo" and they're nothing but a rip-off dealer money maker. Just say no!
  11. Let's make it $800 - saving $280 and I'll split it with you.
  12. But it's really easy to read what you wrote. It's all good now - just a misunderstanding.
  13. Don't get so defensive. Just because YOU understood what YOU meant doesn't mean that the rest of us did. If what you posted was accurate - that the kit was for the 3.5L V6 in those other vehicles then it would be natural to assume that it would also fit the Edge 3.5L V6 even if it wasn't specifically listed. However, if you had said 3.5L V6 Ecoboost then that would have been clear.
  14. Except you said 3.5L - not 3.5L Ecoboost. So it looked like you were saying it was available with all those standard 3.5L engines therefore it should work with the Edge 3.5L.

    Bugs!

    Welcome to South Georgia.
  16. They offloaded the graphics processing to another chip - there is no other "part of the computer" to handle navigation. They just optimized the use of the hardware that was already there.
  17. Check syncmyride.com or the sync forum - I think only one brand of usb cell service was supported.
  18. The factory is doing a much better job at getting the most power and fuel economy so they've already done the easy stuff. There just isn't much improvement to be had from intakes and exhausts.
  19. Change it every 6 months if you're using the factory oil (recommended). If you're using full synthetic you might be able to do it once a year but that's pushing it.
  20. I'd say it's doubtful. The Explorer's original platform had to be heavily modified to handle the torque of the 3.5L ecoboost when it first arrived in the Taurus and Flex. Word is the current Edge platform is due to be replaced soon so it's doubtful they'd spend the money to beef up the old one. But it is possible.
  21. The factory oil is a synthetic blend and today's oils and engines are better than they used to be. Follow the owner's manual recommendation which I think is 5K miles.
  22. Same number of cams (4). Ti-VCT means all 4 cams are variable (adjustable). iVCT means only 2 are variable (intake cams only IIRC) and the other 2 are fixed.
  23. If all you wanted to do was post "helpful information" then you should have just said that you scratched the dash and you found a solution. But you're pissed off at Ford for first painting the dash (even though all high volume mfrs seem to do it) and then for not providing a paint code. You actually did have the paint code if you look on the window sticker I believe you'll find the interior listed as "medium camel' which is the name that you needed to get the matching paint. No, it's not a fact. It's your opinion and it's wrong. The product was not defective - you scratched it. Ford didn't hide the interior color - it was on the window sticker. I cannot stand it when people blame others instead of taking personal responsibility. And I haven't used any moderation on this topic whatsoever so don't go there. I'm sorry but I have a major pet peeve against misinformation and misplaced blame. If all you wanted to do was post "helpful information" then you should have just said that you scratched the dash and you found a solution. But
