Easy repair for a body shop. Ford sells replacement pieces and the body shop will cut out just the part that is rusted and weld it back in.
Here is a similar repair by bluecollarkyle - he has tons of repair videos on Facebook and YouTube.
I use iTunes export (freeware program not the iTunes built in function) with iTunes on windows. It exports the music to the thumb drive along with playlists.
You have to replace the APIM, screen, USB ports and all the wiring. Kits are $600 - $1500.
If you simply Google sync 2 to sync 3 you’ll find tons of kits and videos so you can decide for yourself.
Not safer than the passenger doing it. If you allow the passenger to do it then you also allow the driver to do it while driving. Ford experimented with 2 different technologies to allow the passenger but prevent the driver and neither were successful.
Its so easy to just say “Destination address” “123 main st atlanta”.
Just to make sure - because this has happened before - you’re reaching inside the door handle like you’re going to open it, right? The sensor is on the inside of the handle.
Does it fail on both front and rear drivers side doors?
Does the lock touch function work?
Most mfrs didn’t allow that but some have changed recently. But it’s also because Ford has allowed you to use voice control to manage destinations for over a decade. Easier and safer,
It sucks but they just aren’t able to build very many due to the chip shortage and other vehicles getting priority. Have you checked surrounding inventory? What’s your zip and what exactly did you order?
If it’s more than 3 yrs old it’s either bad or about to be bad. Obviously it’s good to test it IF you have a digital tester that measures CCA and not the old style testers or voltmeters. Those are worthless.
You can’t go by voltage on the battery. You need a digital tester to check CCAs. If it’s more than 3 years old I would just replace it and see if that fixes the problem. If not then you can rule that out and not worry about it for 3-4 more years.
