  1. My experience is different. Breadcrumbs did not last only 30 miles. They would rotate off. As stated I have seen 2 weeks of driving to & from work with the dots still there. It became VERY obvious in my driving that with 3.8 white dots STAYED on MUCH LONGER compared to prior version 3.6 5+ years ago they always appeared to say on for local driving - so maybe 30+ miles... But then on update 2.8? 3.0? it changed to a VERY small amount & rotated off. way to early to be useful at all. Then on 3.5? it came back to a reasonable distance & rotated off. So YES- make another FORD feature that you can NOT just leave in the "on" position without ill effect. Breadcrumbs can be a useful feature. BUT if Ford forces you to REMEMBER to turn on &have to Turn off.. it is not as useful Useful to have on and drive say ....in a housing development of winding curvy roads at night that you are not familiar with. You go to leave and even with nav- is confusing and not yet the major roads that nav wants you to use to get home. Easy to look at map screen & let the white dots help guide your way out. Same for a state park or camp site that doesn't have street signs. You go deep into the park & there are turns... you can use the breadcrumbs to get out. Local neighborhood... you can see that short cut through a rush hour neighbor hood that you found by following the pack of cars...but have no clue how they made all the turns to get out... can duplicate with the crumbs... The point was not to REMEMBER to turn on when you THINK you may need & then turn off.... but my experience if left Always set to on... was there and was not intrusive & came in handy if needed. Now it BECAME intrusive by not deleting in a reasonable distance & clutters the map
  2. The point is FORD is very inconsistent!!! They USED to stay on all the time-Screen filled up -and became useless. People complained then in newer versions they were limited to a very small distance- almost useless small distance--and then disappeared people complained and then on newer versions the distance was extended slightly & stayed that way for a few versions NOW seems to be back to a default stay on for very long time again As posted above very useful in certain situations but if they never disappear .... GEEEZE
  3. OK Appears Ford attention to detail is at it again. Anyone else notice that with v3.8 on MFT/MLT the breadcrumb feature in navigation changed? Or am I experiencing yet another oops take to dealer to reprogram something or reboot to rest something? Breadcrumbs on v3.8 does NOT seem to clear out. I have seen my prior routes all this week to/from work & last week. I almost now have a full white line of connect the multiple white dots from the repeated routes. Seems Ford has played with this setting over the past 12 plus versions never getting a "good" setting for it to purge out at an acceptable distance so the map is not covered with the dots.
  4. yes need to do same set up procedure as before to get it to work. Works for me To get incoming Texting to work on iphone: It is important to see show notifications. If you do not see "Show Notifications" under your Sync options on the phone try this: 1) Delete your phone from the car. Delete Sync from your phone. Wait a minute to make sure everything clears. 2) Turn the phone off and on again. You don't need to reboot the phone but make sure it is physically off and then on (not just lock and unlock). Turn the car off and then on again. 3) Pair your phone fresh w/MFT. Let it do its thing (phonebook loading, voicemail #, 911 assist, etc.). 4) On your phone, turn BT off. Turn it on again. 5) Hit "connect" on the MFT screen to reconnect BT. 6) On phone Go into the settings screen, Bluetooth, Sync., & press the blue arrow icon You should now see "Show Notifications". 7) Set Notifications to "On" on phone 8) Back up a screen on the phone and turn BT off again. Turn it back on. 9) Hit "connect" on the MFT screen again to reconnect to BT. Have someone send a test message
  5. update...Dealer talked to hotline & FSE( Field service engineer) - AGAIN. They replaced the media hub & said try that. Again the FSE disclaimed all over the place don't pair a phone, don't use screen savers ( I think he meant wallpaper) don't use usb plugs.... Oh well....I drove for 4 + years with I phone and wallpaper and apple USB plugs but I guess when you are not that Techie you just attribute hard tasks to the easy culprits- despite the evidence- OH well.... I guess I'll see after another 20 hours of use... ( maybe the 3.8 update will help)
  6. The Backup camera lines are a "program" of the APIM. My dealer covered under extended. Mine were lost when I got a new APIM and dealer did NOT program. Had to go back for them to correct.
  7. Saying "two three" market street vs. 23 (twenty three) market street style has helped
  8. So do you take the USB stick & do again? Or just let dealer do?
  9. Sorry to here. Mine took less than the 30 minutes Although now a different "HP" USB stick that I have the wallpaper on -you know to reinstall since that is not preserved on updates- now shows up as unsupported. Yes it is FAT32 usb2.0 & no it doesn't have the update on it. I guess I will offload content reformat & put content back on & try again. Reformat & drag back the wallpaper folder worked.
  10. Obviously lose of settings issue happens to many people and many other people don't even know if it does occur because they don't change anything from default or track it and the lack of Ford response is the issue The FSE said one thing ...the CSM said another & the ford reps here haven't clarified. And then there's the issue of send to Sync destinations that has gone unanswered in the other thread with the MapQuest issue As stated before just want simplicity and a vehicle that works And we have a brand-new version out that does not address this issue What was with the instructions for this update leaving out the A-6 nav card that came out what 10 months ago?

  12. If what you say is what a CSM or an FSE or an official at Ford said then we wouldn't have a problem but your just conjecturing and Ford did not answer any questions And version 3.8 added different functionality than 3.7 so not as simplistic as you lay out
  13. in fairness having a 3.7 go out on web site for all & then pulled- told not for 2011,2012 models but SOME owners/dealers DID install successfully on 2011 models & then told that 3.7 was not compatible ....but now 3.8 is for all- Come on - we are getting some interesting messages...
  14. since you have make model that I do (2011 MKX)...have you had the reboot in background after ~20 hours & loose the ambient light setting ( back to white) & phone ringer change (back to phone ringer) vs say text to speech?
  15. Sorry to be a 1 off of the 3.8 but in case this issue is still present on 3.8... To help my dealer trouble shoot... to clarify- you had an ambient color other than default white( or ice blue), a phone ringer other than "phone connected ringer" and a text ringer other than the default and if you press setting cog wheel it didn't automatically take you to the clock but the last menu you were on- how exactly did the vehicle reboot? own own? with reboot app? & the listing items above did not reset back to white, & phone connected ringer? What gave it away that the system rebooted? The on screen message? Confirming you have a Edge MFT- what version- are you v 3.6 or 3.7?
  16. I downloaded and installed Tested pressing steering wheel button to activate Siri & it did But I did notice on the install reboot the ambient light not retained Any insights on if this is case going forward? Are the phone ringers, Text ringers, ambient lighting, all not retained after the system reboots especially at that magical 20 hour mark?
  17. Yea AKIRBY and FORD REPS: Care to comment if 2011 models can install? If not WHY? We have issues with 3.6.
  18. The CSM I am working with FAILED to point that out!!! She confirmed my concern that a 2011 model (purchased in 2010) was coming to end of the base 4 with my 1 yr extended warranty.& there is an unresolved problems. When I expressed my frustration of the apim issues she NEVER mention the 6 years. Again to my point of not getting good service!!!
  19. I guess based on other a-6 thread... this topic must be in the BOTTOM 2% and not worthy of Ford's attention
  20. I guess based on other thread (A-6)... this topic must be in the BOTTOM 2% and not worthy of Ford's attention
  21. I - like everyone else- just want something that is broken-FIXED! I- like everyone else- just want an HONEST straight answer. vehicle designed to NAVIGATE should!I f not, FIX THE GPS vehicle designed to allow Selections (color of light, sound of alert) is NOT designed to PURGE every 20 hours! Frustrated that after several months of aggressively perusing this - there is no one at a high level that will step in and settle issue Issue is FORD LACK OF TRUE RESPONSE --not that it is DEFINITE that we are in a bottom 2% 98% ; 2 % sorry NOT HELPING
  22. Agree 2011 owner had 4 years warranty + 1 yr extended...( plus the ford 5 yr thing for all) and all coming to end and the issues are not being SOLVED and are being STALLED. Dealer NO HELP- doen't know how CSM NO HELP-- just says push dealer- FSE(field service engineer- the expert) NO HELP the ford hot line- no help...SORRY NOT ROSEY & just INCOMPETENCE And Akirby called on Ford help.(thanks but) ..the 2 Ford people here in the end- oh PM me- and then NO HELP- said you already contacted dealer & FSE- sorry can do any more even if you have incompetent help!
  23. ying yang 1 "MFT compatible version of sync 3 will be forthcoming and if so that should fix the vast majority of any outstanding MFT issues." "I heard it mentioned that a new version of sync 3 might be made available to MFT vehicles which would include most of the new sync 3 features but that would work on the old hardware...I only heard it mentioned once so it's not guaranteed" ying yang 2 "I've never argued that the software wasn't terrible" ..........."Ford has addressed 98% of the MFT problems" Rosey picture???
  24. Really? That RUMOR was mentioned YEARS ago and then repeated many times that the HARDWARE is different & no it is not happening. You even Guessed as to why we can't even get 3.7 on 2011 & 2012 models as incompatible issue when owners report back that "that" is not the case when dealer DID install 3.7 before it went away from ford Corp.. Sorry=dealer is issue- sorry=dealer is not but Ford corp ( hot line or Field service engineer) is SAME difference And Yes anyone can discipline staff or yank a franchise license when there is incompetence! and HOPES yet again of some future update is really old at this point 5 +years after MFT release. Come on=- Most "issues" went away when FORD took the feature away! even the latest on v 3.7 REMOVING the send a downloaded contact address to NAV- cause the feature never worked correctly in 5 + years. Sorry- you always seem to paint a smell like a rose picture The A- nav car is clearly a issue with the GPS & needs a service fix The ambient light , phone ringer, text ringer loosing settings after a reboot is clearly a hard ware issue that FORD corp incompetence to NOT pass on a fix to a dealer is showing!
