  2. Correct. The TSB speaks to "ignition cycle" is when problem occurs.... BUT... what about- as many post here -upon normal usage after a period of time? - say that MAGICAL ~20 hours where the system is DESIGNED to reboot in background- which to many may appear "Random" since 20 hours could be a long weekend trip for some drivers but may be 3-4 weeks of driving or 5-8 weeks of driving depending on your commute & driving habits. dealer stated that they reprogrammed APIM & then replace APIM & then reprogrammed again it did not resolve. Now exactly how did they reprogram & what specific settings were chosen & in what sequence? they have not shared & may lie the problem. What Ford WON'T address is - on MFT and MLT v 3.6.02 (released 2 yrs ago ~ 8/2013?) is that some settings are NOT being retained in memory (ambient light, phone ringer, text message ringer, Sirius alerts?) when the car reboots.- ON ITS OWN IN BACKGROUND or if you directly do it by pulling battery, sync fuse, or reboot apps... AND what is VERY ANNOYING is Ford Field Service Engineer ( The escalated regional specialist) was so ARRAGONT to then say must be phone. Even though not having a phone connected to car when testing, not specifying what make/model of phone or phones has the issue, or what specifically on the phone -like an app may cause the problem. Iphone nor Samsung phones are not cause -the FORD MFT/MLT version ( that has not been fixed or updated) is the error! Wait, the greater error is the Ford "experts" that are not even close to that title & then provide very insulting recommendations- JUST DO NOT PAIR ANY PHONE & SYSTEM SHOULD WORK! Which is why I turn here for help from a "FORD EXPERT" that can correct this recommendation & provide a real solution!
  3. omar302 Thanks..... I guess that is the $1M question.... are other people on V3.6.02 having issue? Or do most not notice the change in ambient color or do not Notice change in ringers from e.g.. text to speech back to the phone connect ringer ? I just find it totally unacceptable that they brought in a specialist- gave my loaner for 2 days & then said we don't know so it must be your phone-which phone is that? - doesn't matter - just must be phone- What in particular on a phone would cause issue- Doesn't matter - must be phone - drive with it not paired!!! HELP who at Ford that reads these forums can give a straight answer? Is it we- ford- don't want to admit it but- yes v 3.6.02 deliberately purges your settings & restores defaults & there is nothing to troubleshoot ? Or is there SOME reason- but they just have mot found it?
  4. Wiring is what the Field service engineer checked & blessed. Dealer reprogramed APIM Dealer replaced APIM Dealer reprogramed -again- per ford trouble shooting line- told in a reprogramed different way FSE- spent past 2 days- checking to ensure connections & wires etc. as the service manager relayed to me 30 min ago So Is the 20 hours reboot in background still "by design" on 3.6.2 or was it really removed. And what I see is it a non-ford issue- AKA- users phones that cause the reboot- at the REGULAR 20 ish hour interval? or know one notices cause they do not see the outward sign that I do of the change in settings to ambient light & phone ringers & text reingers? FSE stated to dealer that the MFT system - if unplug battery- is DESIGNED to loose those settings- ambient light & ringers but not all the other settings- really?
  5. OK after 2 + Months... The dealer had a field service engineer out... The big final assessment on the ambient lighting changing back to white but in menu screen still shows blue & then spins in front of you to the white? Not our car Must be the phone..... Really my iphone 4s, iphone 6, iphone 6+, Samsung galaxy? - yep phones have issues & cause it!!! Really? MFT versions 1.8, 2.3, 2.4, 2.7, 2.8, 3.0, 3.2, all did NOT have the issue 3.6.2 does... and they WONT update my to 3.7..( only new model cars) . The solution from the BIG regional field service engineer..... do not pair your phone & continue to drive. And FSE said the MFT system doesn't reboot a in background after 20hours any more!!! Really? Since when? I have reset my trip odometer and have since it happen more that 4 times at/around that 20 hour time since watching this closely this summer...

  7. Both Dealer Service manager & I are back from vacation after car returned to me NOT FIXED few weeks ago. . Dealer wants to escalate to a Ford "Field Service engineer" but that person would not even talk until we confirmed that after APIM replacement that issue happened own & not "forced" by pulling battery, sync fuse, or reboot app.-- Pretty STUPID since the system is designed to do the reboot- or I mean- system maintenance after ~20 hours of use. Left with "OK we must play your stupid game-" I drove it for past 2 weeks with many beach runs. Guess what- Last night the system must have rebooted after dinner before I drove home. ( I checked my timer on the instrument gage panel & yep I went past 20hours) I filmed the result & emailed it away - Sure enough the problem did not MAGICALLY go away!! Yea pay $50K+ & must prove it did not magically fix on own..( even though we proved a forced reboot) We got same result- as an indirect system forced. Does anyone else see the change of ambient lighting, phone ringer, text ringer resetting to s system default after 20+ hours of driving?
  8. the sad part is the lack of training Ford provides to dealerships to make it a "do it once" & problem resolved. Then the lack of clear direction from Ford corp . "Hotline" to resolve... reprogram- oh no dice, replace- oh no dice, ok wait & we will get back to you? Really on 5 + year old Tech- they don't have this done pat?

Update: Dealer had for 2 weeks - they called Ford hotline many times- could NOT resolve issue of settings being blown away after the 20 hours - forced system maintenance (aka reboot) still loose the ambient lighting, phone ringer, text message ringer, sirius alerts... HELP!! they reprogramed the APIM, replaced the APIM, .... still on v3.6. is 3.7 just not an option for my 2011 MKX with MLT? Would that help?
  10. Update: new APIM was installed & STILL HAS ISSUE. Calling the hotline AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW!!!! Now dealer is frustrated even more that the reboot app is not working & assisting them to test .

Update: Dealer has another 2 days- so far NO! the "after 20hours" MFT/MLT performs system maintenance ( aka reboot) in background & looses the settings for ambient lighting, phone ringer, text message ringer, Sirius alerts: Ford hotline said install TSB- 1st attempt was a failed installation. 2nd attempt took but did not resolve issue Ford Hotline said full reprogram of APIM--- That also did not resolve issue Ford hotline now says order & replace APIM & see if that helps. Side note- the back up camera loosing the color lines & hash marks- replaced camera but FOGOT to reprogram. on 2nd attempt reprogramed & was report that resolved issue ( I haven't seen yet) but will assume so.

Frustration when Ford regional rep calls my cell several times but I do not know this because caller ID is blocked & says "unknown" & She NEVER leaves a message. and was off on Monday- normal day of business for all of us. GREAT!! When finally did speak- only advice was for dealership mechanic to call ford hotline for advice- BUT ONLY when car is at dealer & in the bay. They can not provide any feedback NOW on what was already done or not done last Thurs & Frid to dealership nor provide any suggestions as to direction or a course of action. Really? OK the logical thought was for me to drive my car till dealership had a game plan on how to resolve but Ford wants other way around. OK I'll do that. Leap of faith
  13. Shaay...thanks sent PM. yes, I did call Ford Corp on Sat. I currently have vehicle since dealership did not know how to apply or even test the installation of a TSB for ambient light nor the backup camera settings. I am waiting on when to bring back in to resolve - but that depends on FORD CORP giving help to dealer. I informed them I had the direct reboot app. if needed to force the "reboot- aka system maintenance" & see if any procedure works and holds the ambient presets. I suggested the delayed reboot app. I asked why they couldn't do a reboot when hooked up to their computer or machines. they said they do not have what we have. I also was concerned on loosing my 50 nav stored items if they just did a master reset- purged my stored data- & still end up where we are today. If a MASTER reset is a MUST- then I hate that but so be it but am more annoyed if purged for no reason.

When I went to pick up vehicle- after 2 days with a loaner- dealer stated done & tested- I got in car & amber light on the "I" was lit & had a "failed install" The ambient light was not resolved and feel like ANY person- even the guy that drives the car up to you from back- should of spotted the YELLOW WARNING LIGHT Also , the rear camera that lost the green yellow red guide colors & the hash marks that I took it in for was still broken - setting is on but display is not. I called Ford & asked for a regional manger to get involved.

  18. OK my car is going in for Service for a failed backup camera- loosing the color marks & hash lines see my other thread... I would like the dealer to address the issue I describe above. The SERVICE MANAGER asked for ASSISTANCE on finding the TSB that might addresses this. Anyone? The TSB mentioned above is similar but not Exactly the condition- right? Rebecca- What can you provide to assist my service manager so he can fix the "Issue" after a system reboot that happens in background (ambient light change to grey, phone ringers reset , sirius alerts turen off? ALSO my concern is to NOT do a master reset since it will blow away my Nav stored Favs. Can this be taken into account? Thanks .
  19. Does this sound like a dealer needs to reprogram the APMI or something like that? Can they do it with our losing my nav favs? I have a 2011 Lincoln MKX Backup camera loses the color & hash marks. I also got once- the pop alert “Camera is unavailable- contact dealer” but that has not shown up again. I toggled in the settings the feature on & off. I used the reboot app. I disconnected the car battery for 15 minutes & reconnect- nothing worked. I do NOT want to do a master reset since that will just delete all my nav favs & hads proven not to fix the real issues. Suggestions? ****Rebecca**** ….   20. How is Travel link in being updated in real time for price? My experience was Travel link was slower in real time updates vs. an app like gas buddy. And since Gas can vary so much per day/week...I like the app ...May depend on area since it is people sourced. "set it as the destination" ok that is a 1 click...but for those interested Gas buddy DOES provide address ...so you can speak or type address into the car nav in exchange for free or just use phone map I have Sirius - but I needed all the energy to get the biggest discount for the music/internet subscription

  22. The "Hey Siri" as mentioned works if plugged in. If NOT plugged in, just 1 quick press & hold on the bottom button of iphone activates Siri. I keep phone in the tray below console. I receive a text. If not plugged in - one reach with eyes still on road & press & then I say reply to text...Siri prompts what do you want to say... I dictate message- pause - Siri says do you want me to send it- I say yes... Done!! MFT & MLT NEVER worked for the reply to text for MOST phones - Especially the iphones.. Many that had some luck with a non iphone didn't like the "canned" messages & the not so consumer friendly way of changing the canned messages with your own customized caned messages. Many also complained with the FORCED Ford signature tag line after your message that you could not remove. Agree with above. Most short reply. If requires more thought- even with speech- a quick turn down a side street...compose- send- & then back on main road in less a minute keeps you & others safe..... I sets example for the kids that are watching my every move. .

  24. CARR...yep past 4 years seems the owner has no option to customize & don't see where that is even an option on the new Sync 3. I was hoping - after 4 + years of MFT/MLT being on market that someone saw a way for dealer to get access to some deep rooted menu & be able to change default setting. As you know NEIGHBOR- Phila /Cherry hill area can have many a 33,34,35, or 36 degree mornings or even 5pm right before leave work- where it would be nice to remote start & have the heated steering wheel & seat engage. That wait till it is 32 sometimes just is too low a threshold
