But to be fair...The web site claims "NEW SOFTWARE update" & it is from over 1 year ago 8/13- so not new & not user friendly as you sign in through out the past 13 months... and to my point in the other thread there is a TSB on the ambient light issue introduced back from the 8/13 update that was just released this week. I do not want a dealer stop for that to find out in a short period of time the new version ( that incorporates that fix) is out,....& the dealer wasted billable warranty hours & my time

A-4 was latest provided to original owners with out cost when software was updated. This was partial due to the A-3 didn't work on the software update ( at that time) so they had to give A-4. On the next software update it magically worked with both A-3 & A-4 & made it harder to get A-4. The A-5 is worth ~ $125 from dealer but each dealer can sets their own prices or cut you a deal. The later the Card number the more accurate the "POI" or point of interests that are since they are part of the SD card. The Music gracenotes updates are NOT that big a deal since it is pretty horrible to begin with...better to just fix the id tags in your music metadata.

Thanks but question..."settings restore EA5T-14D546-AMA"....does this mean the solution was there all the time? Just restore to a previous code? Or is this more instructions to restore & a new code/script is being used in the restore process? Also- will this really be necessary IF a new version of MFT/MLT is due soon? Would this "fix" be incorporated into the new software? After all- we have been waiting 13 months for this "fix" to the 8/13 MFT 3.6 release that had this bug... & now near end of 9/14 Oh Waldo-....any suggestions????? want to avoid going to dealer to do this & then with in a "short" period of time it self corrects with a new software version... I was just at dealer on Frid for a sunroof warranty issue "Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage." also...would this be part of the EXTENED MFT warranty of that 5 years no millage limit due to all the issues? REMINDER with IOS 8 now downloadable...smart practices dictate then you should do a clean install with MFT- delete sync from phone & phone from sync- & then start over to pair phone & follow the step by steps to get incoming texting to work....This will max success of items working with MFT... I have IOS 8 on iphone 4s & My incoming texts are working fine & outgoing with Siri assist is as well

More of same- incoming texts for iphone work for a good while & then SUDDENLY stop. I thought I saw more frequency of stopping issue when I would BT my phone to a portable BT speaker & then later went back in vehicle but not fully proven that out. Also more like to see the incoming text stoppage after the behind the scenes forced reboot after the 20hours of operation... You can tell the system rebooted in background easily with the current "bug" that is in system. The Ambient light will reset back to gray/white but if you go to the light setting you will see it set to another color & quickly spin in front of you. I have found need to just play with the original procedure's last few steps to get the incoming texts to work again. IE connect as normal- turn BT on/OFF on phone- confirm the notifications setting is there & toggle on/off & then do a cycle of toggling BT on/off in the order from the original steps laid out in the other threads.. And YES- outgoing with iphone doesn't work though Ford...need to JUST press the Siri button once on iphone & then you can reply to the incoming text via voice - have it read back- & then sent via voice AND do NOT need to pay $99 for the new app that appears to only work with "sync" & not MFT. The Smart driving assist that was pressed released the other day & discussed over at the sync my ride forum

Usually (at least last 4 years if I recall) every labor day Sirius does the promo.. As Akirby stated got a few more days of the "limited" channels.... I had subscription for 4 years for ~$90 "all in" for 1 year deal for car & internet - but they pulled the lets bill you $240 + game from your previous $90 & I choose not to play the back & forth game Nonsense game.... Pandora, Iheart, Stitcher....all great FREE options Shame Sirius isn't that smart that if you do not try to give the shaft to people they may stay at a reasonable price but pull the Jack you up game & run risk of see ya later......not worth the haggle hasel

So what is the scope on 3.7 or 3.711 that is being talked about over at sync owner....can we install that? What about the revamped version that waldo talked about is that coming after 3.7 ?

OK wondering since it is 3 or so days away from last years v3.6 release...so.....we are long over due to see something fresh....

carr42 OK thanks I'll have to ask my local tech... ...although I use AC most time in summer so the actual frequency of needing to use key fob to auto down & auto up windows is rare-at least for me My parents generation left windows open in car & then had to run out to close on the late afternoon summer thunderstorm...My car would most likely have windows closed already

Rebecca can you elaborate & clarify? V3.6 of MFT/MLT still has the climate- at least on my families Edge & my MKX. Are there different variations of software 8/13 v 3.6 software applied to Edges? to MKX's? What was the issue/reason for QUIETLY removing climate from the small control? Was it removed from the Explorer? Was it again to free up some resources to stabilize something else? CONFUSDED I just drove a 2014 MKS with MLT. I did notice a slightly different interface but thought climate was there- is it? Can you confirm? ....I thought the difference in navigating menus- iE the left one for tach/fuel or trip odometer driving mileage was pressing the up/down on the toggle control vs side to side- after in the sub menu - wow did that take a while to get used to- was due to MKS vs. MKX and NOT a bigger decision of changing the system quietly behind the scenes..... I also noticed on MKS you can express down AND "UP" all windows by holding in the unlock or lock button on the key fob. on my 2011 MKX I can ONLY express down all windows by holding the unlock but can not do the "up" feature that I saw on MKS. I asked my dealer. This is the reply they got from Ford: As per tech assistance: " The ambient lighting returning to default is a characteristic of software. Engineering is aware of this concern; however we do not currently have an ETA on when this lighting concern will be resolved. At this time, it is not recommended that you replace any components to try and change this operation. " So Stand Blah Blah statement from an error that was introduced back in 8/13 from Ford's latest software update & deemed not worthy of any hot fix & may or may not be corrected & incorporated into a future release So DONT WASTE YOUR TIME ASKING FORD OR DEALER

Rebecca-Can you at least reply to my post 5 .....since I brought you into this? My assertion is that when the car reboots- this situation occurs or at least can occur. the ambient light can change back to a default setting. Just like the phone & text ringers can reset back to a default setting. Please confirm! Then we can debate whether a dealer can fix the lack of memory retention when the system reboots. Then we can debate WHY Ford does not acknowledge this issue was introduced with last update or if it a separate error.

I believe the ERROR you are seeing that got introduced with the last update back in 8/13 ( yea web site says it is new- but ...) ....is when the MFT/MLT system REBOOTS in the background ~every 20 hours of use.. ( as designed see owners manual) It unfortunately RESETS & LOCKS! if you go to the color selector screen - you see it set to the one you choose & then real quickly it rotates & shows the grey that you saw in real life before going to menu screen . The phone selections are also effected. The ringer for phone & ringer for text alerts changes back & doesn't retain your settings!!! IE for me voice announce is never retained! Ford was made aware back in 8/13 when us owners first saw it after install. I guess not considered important for a HOT fix & we are all stuck with it unless Ford quietly fixes the error in background for the next release- when ever that may be????

I believe he is referring to a bootleg style of nav on a non-nav, The other obvious question is why not let any device ( phone, tablet) that can run a nav directions program just plug into the bigger MFT screen? Same reason Marketing & big bucks to sell you theirs & not allow.

follow post 6... The way you describe Akirby- (Pair & go) is what we should ALL expect BUT as we All know- a few hoop jumps are needed with MFT. That is why us owners figured out the hoops -posted it...then 1 year later Ford put it on their web as a "do you know...." help topic.....should have been other way around...but at least it works... every time iphone does an update- Found it is BEST Practice to follow post 6 to "sync" FYI- don't have your phone on Silent-that may effect performance

"only the MFT systems briefly." Really? Try below... on the phone try this: 1) Delete your phone from the car. Delete Sync from your phone. Wait a minute to make sure everything clears. 2) Turn the phone off and on again. You don't need to reboot the phone but make sure it is physically off and then on (not just lock and unlock). Turn the car off and then on again. 3) Pair your phone fresh w/MFT. Let it do its thing (phonebook loading, voicemail #, 911 assist, etc.). 4) On your phone, turn BT off. Turn it on again. 5) Hit "connect" on the MFT screen to reconnect BT. 6) Go into the settings screen for Sync. You should now see "Show Notifications". 7) Set Notifications to "On". 8) Back up a screen on the phone and turn BT off again. Turn it back on. 9) Hit "connect" on the MFT screen again to reconnect to BT. Have someone send a test message.

1.) appears there is a new Different "my Lincoln mobile app" 2.) the old one doesn't update into the new...The old-& currently still working- app is called & displays as "Lincoln mobile" (although sometimes referred to as "my" Lincoln mobile So it Gets confusing. 3.) there is an error right away to try to get it to the new app to work--CDR error- 4.) Appears Key features of old app were removed- the destinations feature (sync services ,Route me to, managed saved points, , the live traffic . This is what is on the Ford "Destinations" app. Web page actually states at bottom that now you need to use 2 apps to do what the 1 did- use sync destinations & the linc to get the same level you had before. 5.) the website lists the new feature for the 1 2015 vehicle MKC that is only on the deluxe trim model with the extra modem.- remote start integration & unlock/lock feature - OK you are not OnStar! Oh and by the way- this tech is NOT backswords compatible to your existing vehicles.... 6.) Looks like you only have 2 weeks to get old version from app store. States they will remove from apple app store in 6/14 7.) it took a week for the WEB page announcement to go to the new app- that doesn't work- to now have the old app & the apple app store to NOW display a splash screen explaining. Hmm timing is everything- roll out instructions a week after the Brocken app is released.

"There is no official soft reboot" Correct- no reboot built in for you to select- auto programed to happen- ( every 20 hrs if I recall) A built in master reset is DIFFERENT! Ford did distribute a Direct reboot app to a few & then abruptly stopped. I have one but it is locked down. The delayed reboot app was derive from an official Ford post on the sync my ride forum that addressed a Sirius channel renaming update a few years back. It was in the announcement section off forum (stayed there for like 2 years & then was again abruptly removed) Then end process of the update was a delayed reboot. This is completely safe to use. I have an email from Ford Tech support on the subject. Strongly suggest you do a reboot- pull the sync fuse, pull the car battery cable, or download & use the delayed reboot app. This process has cleaned up many a problems over the almost 4 years of MFT release.
