  1. I can confirm & has been discussed in other threads & forums as well: iphone will NOT send texts but can received. To send you need 1 press of the home button (on phone)to activate Siri- & then smooth process. It is actually better with no unwanted Ford signatures forced attached. Others have talked about the Android equivalent as an option as well for sending. Other phones- many have had issue with sending. Some errors are that it does not reply to the incoming number- but rather sync looks to address book & grabs 1st number of contact- which may not be the correct one that was used as the incoming number. See cartilelege01 postings in sync my ride forum for more on that issue.
  2. Ok thanks $125 +$20 S&H =$145 or whatever u local dealer decides to charge off the suggested retail .. Not the $199 panties in a bunch u professed as likely based on past DVD releases.. Moving on.... And we see when the next major update is released & with or with out a new SD card that may or may not be A-5 or A-6 or is now configured to work with A-4 & A-3 So u can still pay to get a new card Got it
  3. thanks Rebecca... and we can always count on the maybe yes, may no from the other post! People will want to know price. People will want to know what it offers. People will want to make an INFORMED decision to buy or NOT BUY if another option comes down the road... There was a pretty lively debate before about not even available to buy so why post & conjecture ?.... Well looks like now is the time to post. Lets here it. What are the prices. Did it come out to that debated $199 price that got so much heat? What real value does it offer? Why a partial roll out to dealer vs HERE web site not having. Will people wait to see next UPDATE roll out & whether a card comes wit it or a different card comes with it?
  4. so What is the story with the new A-5 Nav Card? Can all MFT owners receive? Will it be $199, $124, $60, $free? Should they wait? Since MFT owners have received FREE replacement A- cards at least twice with prior MAJOR MFT updates.. and not with the minor ones...and as Akirby pointed out in another thread there hasn't been one to even "buy" yet since MFT was released back in 8/10 ....confused And with the - "you will not be left out" - of this thread referencing a MAJOR MFT release that will happen sometime in the future with the new software platform .... Confused... on the SD card release approach. Cleary free or low price is a BIG factor. Also timing of - are we going to get one like in past with a major release/change so do not even look at the current A-5?
  5. I guess you haven't been in a Cadi & used their CUE system. It has proximity detection & comes alive as hand gets near screen. Gee didn't I post back at launch of MFT -why doesn't the Touch screen come ALIIVE at a simple Touch.- get it- my for touch... the map screen with CUE has a "PINCH to ZOOM " like tablet feature...IT has a nice FAST scroll up & down feature tike a tablet, I could go on about some other neat stuff but then ,,,this isn't their forum....
  6. My thought- look at MFT vs. the phone itself & see if that helps. On MFT/MLT v 3.6 Entertainment section -select option for BT Stereo. You can select this (vs. FM, Sirius, cd, etc) to stream music & not be connected via BT in the phone section. What I did notice is when a call came into my phone- the music muted & the phone was active for call- not the car speaker system. As stated check to see if phone dependent or not. For example, I can BT stream music from my iphone (or my kids ipod) & NOT have my phone connected to car so I can have a private conversation on my phone- handheld- or with an earpiece. Yes charging by usb is a + if connect that way- but MANY recommend a faster charge by plugging into a device connected to the aux port.- either by usb or by the ac style plug adapter. Even store "5 below" sells a charger. You may like or dislike the privacy button in the phone section of MFT.....check it out- but privacy is NOT a preselected option. It only becomes an option to select ( not grayed out) after call is connected... so You need to start over speakerphone & then select. I have also found if you then hang up on a privacy connected call...Sometimes- not always- the next incoming one may default to privacy & you scramble to try to answer - is it phone- is it speaker- hello hello- hold one a minute while scramble to get it to work. - I just tested & before posting but could not get it to happen but yesterday- it happened. I was driving - wife called...put on privacy so my kid could chat & I could still listen to music. After call completed the next incoming call announced & displayed but it did not route to speakerphone- it went to handset...had to say hold a minute while I toggled to get it working...
  7. Thank You... I know you see my view points & my degree of intensity - I know you have different viewpoints & a much lower degree of intensity but history has play out. When consumers speak their mind, when they remind business the Big Bucks they spend & remind how we can influence others who Will spend big bucks...Business historically does respond. History has played out over the past 3 1/2 years. Hopefully, we will ALL see a better- more robust- product. If I use 20 features & you use 5- we are ALL still the better for having the option to use all 20.
  8. Thanks another article...http://blog.caranddriver.com/ford-dropping-microsoft-based-infotainment-to-adopt-blackberry-unit/ Maybes: the Direct GPS Lat/Long input will be able to come back; able to set a destination from your downloaded phone contacts ( that has USA in it-iphone users), the upper right corner will not blank out the street name when navigate from map (currently requires a 2 hop - go elsewhere & come back) for street name to show up; the Fonts that are HUGE will be leveled & consistent across all audio displays; Applink on MFT, advanced settings for remote start climate control so it is not locked in at ONLY below 32 works (34 degrees still pretty darn cold but won't auto engage climate settings like heated seat/steering wheel), built in reboot, a more user friendly home screen for phone- then the do not disturb button- that is not the smartest choice- say vs. a 1 touch dialing hyperlink launch or something better in that quadrant, a calendar that auto goes to present day instead of "remembering" that last time you visited- say 2 months ago calendar day, more advanced options in NAV to adjust route- ie Google/MapQuest web based allows you to "drag" to preferred route of the 3 options they present- , etc , etc
  9. Yep- I am sure we ALL will want to know.... Will ford license for the 2011,2012,2013 models that are all running the current system? Or will movement from sync to MFT to the New version X be going forward..... Time will tell How about our local forum insiders chime in when they can.....
  10. Do you not like the phone options- google, mapqust. waze? Many Trips I take I see people sticking with their phones now vs a pd service or another gadget to bring....Trying not to use your data? A free option to check out is 408-752-8052. Information line 24/7. Same reports, reporters, allows store favorites, has directions.. check it out...see if it works for you as a free one before pay a ford version.. Some do not see value in $60 Sync Services ..Some like that you can use ford app to send directions to sync services & then call # to download... Others do not like that ford charges $199 to Lincoln customers - just because-& doesn't offer a $60 especially when some of the features- as stated are FREE elsewhere & Ford incorporated them into theirs. What about the new Garmins that offer the HUD+ or its HEADS UP DISPLAY? Is that a better spend of the $120 & free ship on amazon...google it.... Just might be... MANY feel a non Ford option offers more value & has more applications & is portable vs the 1 cell phone that would be authorized with Sync Services- so say wife/husband/kid take car- it only works for the one cell phone- not a family subscription... so say husband does sync services to his phone- then wife, kid are SOL! You decide what works
  11. the last update introduced a "bug" or as Ford will say - normal operating procedure- where the ambient light resets back to grey after a reboot. This can be seen on a forced reboot with the app, pull fuse/battery or seem to happen on its own.. Which is really the when the system is-by designed- to reboot on its on after so many hours of operation - most times you JUST do not see it since happens after shut off vehicle. May catch a glimpse if shut off to gas up- & then it just happens to be at that magical hour- & boom.. Also notice the "alerts" in Sirius- also magically turn to a default off as well...? Just need to reboot & then cycle car off & on to get the greyed out option to reappear....
  12. To get incoming Texting to work on iphone: It is important to see show notifications. If you do not see "Show Notifications" under your Sync options on the phone try this: 1) Delete your phone from the car. Delete Sync from your phone. Wait a minute to make sure everything clears. 2) Turn the phone off and on again. You don't need to reboot the phone but make sure it is physically off and then on (not just lock and unlock). Turn the car off and then on again. 3) Pair your phone fresh w/MFT. Let it do its thing (phonebook loading, voicemail #, 911 assist, etc.). 4) On your phone, turn BT off. Turn it on again. 5) Hit "connect" on the MFT screen to reconnect BT. 6) On phone Go into the settings screen, Bluetooth, Sync., & press the blue arrow icon ,You should now see "Show Notifications". 7) Set Notifications to "On" on phone 8) Back up a screen on the phone and turn BT off again. Turn it back on. 9) Hit "connect" on the MFT screen again to reconnect to BT. Have someone send a test message.
  13. is 973800 in Firefox- I also see on left as you do- but I do see it on right - in the header just above the map like in IE...like u said maybe settings gives different presentations
  14. type in 1600 Pennsylvania ave & then click on send...seems to be there.... Same issue though that IE11,10 not compatible & Ford has a ticket open for 4 months+ with no resolve....
  15. Customer is always right! Sad world when the expected view is that you are at the mercy of.... There are always options.... I do expect & I do receive. When I do not- I do raise my concerns & give ample time to correct. The goal is to get the issues resolved. Frustration is when it is easier to send remediation then resolve issue. That has happened on several occasions. You are free to think a customer has no right- I think differently! Customers have every right to expect a working product and expect every reasonable effort be made to fix an issue with out creating more issues and not just stop at -well that is good enough. Good news. I will be ending these posts. I lost. The price is not reduced for Sync Services nor the issues on sending the destinations to the built in nav. Free market can decide price- so can haggling. I do have another year of Sync services on them. I have every right!
  16. "Why aren't you using Firefox with MapQuest " "Drama Queen" Thanks MOD- I hear that in one direction.... Let me offer another style that may be more please to all..... I know you may use IE 11 especially since your work lap may have that installed by your IT dept. but if you can, you may want to try Firefox since -as you pointed out -it may be awhile before Ford resolves the issue- maybe you can try on your home computer first . Many have reported very positive results...At least this may offer a stop gap measure... I fully understand your frustration of seeing a system go through so much growing pains.... I get that price is import to you as it is to many owners .... OK I call truce on the tones... Doesn't help us consumers get a good working product at a fair price with no bad surprises... May I direct back to first post.. why this thread is here in first place..owner received an unclear message & misdirection from the 2 sources Ford & Navtec..... Then told typically this is what happens by posts Then told price higher then most 3rd party options but maybe not car dealers & a price is based on an older pricing model..then told it hasn't been fully decided & firmed up yet from the official sources..( yes we know why but they never spelled that out on their web sites for all to understand) ..then left with the $200 is the price- deal with it & complain if higher. I see a valid option to complain NOW that it should NOT be set at THAT price & should be lower & stated why... Your input was that you wouldn't & haven't bought at that price point... So I hope you are wrong that Ford/Navtec sticks with the approach of we will tell you when we have one & here is the old price model take it or leave it.
  17. YES THANKS !!! That is my point & so many others.... FORD did not ALLOW... at least you have the respect of not getting called out like I would for saying it. I do not WANT to bash Ford every change I get. I want it to work on 1st or 2nd attempt not 14th & then not have it work due to dumming it down.. Where is my direct input of GPS lat/Long that was taken away? As stated I would buy an update to nav but not get raped on price- I would buy the sync service but not get bamboozeled into a price 3 times higher then previously stated 199 vs 60 & the service not fully work to boot. And why would I buy an update- I actually like the nav & have it work well most of the time!! That is why I want the Send to Sync feature to work in sync services to send to my Nav in car but it doesn't work via mapquest for IE 11,10,9 & has been months just to get Ford to acknowledge that.
  18. WRONG!!! I was pointing out that after 3+ years after release of the 1st MFT/MLT vehicle --- the utter LACK of any POLICY or PROCEDURE on the subject. Yes- We got 2 new cards as stated to assist in FIXING the TROUBLED system. There is no official documentation of the normal expected interval of update & the normal - at the time - expected price. Just guesses!. And as you said the OLD price point of $200 just sticks around to see what limited audience still will PAY! Then there is the fact that no updates to the lack of procedures - for example- nothing to state in lieu of the present A-4 distribution ....our next card is now pushed back & is expected to be x & the price is x ...... Lets not forget my other "gripe" as you call it. A $60 Sync service that morphed to $199 for Lincoln & we have no base option of $60 to select. FORD is not to be PRAISED for that. . SO PLEASE stop waving the flag on Ford. You stated you wouldn't buy the $200 price point map update ....SO are the feelings of so many OTHERS!!! At that price point just buy a Garmen & suction it over the MFT. Or as stated USE WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE- your phone or a passengers phone! .
  19. "I am able to confirm that we are aware that there is an issue with map quest and IE10. we do not have an ETA on a resolution " MG,Client Service Manager Lincoln Client Relationship Center SO some progress,...Acknowledge IE10- Still have IE 11,9, & Google Chrome when on win7 prof vs. home edition but at least a start.
  20. I thought I was stating a time line & normal expectations from a BIG company... YOU mentioned the price thrown around is the older dvd model. I saw that as an item to comment on. And yes if no documentation after 3 years - IT IS NOT A POSITIVE! Sorry... If the MFT roll out was not such a mess - where - yes - Ford supplied 2 nav cards-- as part of the FIXING/stabilizing the MFT system...an owner would EXPECT after 3 years of vehicle release that there would be SOME documentation on the EXPECTATION of what an owner would have at there disposal as far as time intervals for updates & a pricing model. As you STATED the $200 is the old DVD model & we have not been presented a new model- if any- for the SD cards. I neither praised ford for the A-3 & A-4 nor gripped on them for providing. Please!! I just said simply after 3 years there is no official paperwork & that is not NORMAL for a any big company- Ford or Navteq! Ford sells car-Ford upsells price of car with built in Nav -Ford contracts with Nav Teq . I guess mod is not happy unless your praise Ford every chance you get!! If Ford has a business partner that is not aware of the changing environment & what vehicle owners needs are ---Than YES Ford will have issues.... I really do not get your reply.... You stated YOU did not spend the MONEY to get updates after more than 5 years. Many here feel the $200 is WAY over the top for any perceived value. Many ask what is the time line. You get well usually this time but no official word type ... replies. MY point, as many others, Meet an expectation to succeed. Lower the price or engage with a better business partner to lower price - Else potential customers follow your lead - Find no value or do not spend $ even if we did find value,,, I am probable in your camp- I have the most current nav card after 3 years ownership- I have smart phone- I have passengers that have smart phones- I have friends that have portable navs with cheap or free updates... and I can still print a google map or mapquest map destination before getting into vehicle....If there was a reasonable price for update- sure what the heck... but at $200- Na- lost sale!!! That is not gripping! I
  21. What we know for sure:.. MFT/MLT launched ~9/2010. It is now 1/2014 & there has NEVER BEEN an official map update to purchase & no official info on timing & price of any future updates. So yes- that is a BAD mark against the big co. But why ? Well maybe, partially due to below... Due to the many issues since launch of MFT/MLT - as an overall system- owners started with an original nav card, received a new one when the major 3.0 update occurred & now have received a 2nd SD card - A-4 from the last updates ( current version 3.6). As stated there has not been one officially to buy yet.... 3 + years later Most owners have voiced an opinion that $200 is not a fair price (anymore) for map updates & is WAY too High. As Akirby mentioned, the $200 structure stems way back to the DVD era & many owners think is REALLY not accurate for the future.... but if Ford chooses to stick it to the customers on an older pricing strategy- it will be seen as that!!! This has become especially more relevant as more owners over the past 5-10 + years have progressed from no phone, to dumb phone, to smart phone. EVERY smart phone has access to the map/nav option & if not the driver- surely one of the passengers has one. So the need to pay an outdated pricing model has passed & as others mentioned $99 stand alone GPS's that have built in many times a year map updates for much cheaper also shows where a true price structure should lie vs. what a car company may WANT to charge & then be perceived as the bad guy!!
  22. 2.8 correct But Ford took it away in 3.0 series 2 yeas ago & never looked back even though owners wanted the wallpaper only or Hmmm idea at a "touch" - get it my ford touch- but not on the MY ...the text would come back,... oh wait that would be programming skills....
  23. I'm in the Phila sub area. of PA. I found back in 2010 when I got car- AM - specifically - KYW - had the biggest issues. The constant in/out was HORRRIBLE. Back then (2010 & 2011)HD radio if shut off for AM -it shut off for FM. The FM multicast of KYW was fine - but station is on a 30 sec delay for the FM HD2. I & others complained on forums ( here that akirby) & it was EVENTUALLY heard & now MFT ( most recent 3 updates) HD radio is BAND specific. I do find some HD FM multicasts are stronger then others & - YES- in hilly places & lower line places Line of site is more sensitive with HD radio but for most part mine works on the FM. The AM is a toss up & at least now can shut off & leave FM on.
  24. KEEP in MIND There is a DIFFERENCE in Master reset & Rebooting. Pulling the battery or fuse REBOOTS the system & you do **NOT** loose your personal data. The master reset you LOOSE your settings & it resets back to factory standard SO try the REBOOT first!!!.
  25. My post 25 update...we have gone from Thanksgiving to now Christmas & I even opened a case with Ford..but still the send to "sync feature" via mapquest still does not work with ie 11.10,9 & has been very spotty with Chrome. The reps still state they are using ie 8 from 2009 even thought we are entering 2014. How can Ford offer assistance when they are 4 to 5 years behind???? The latest I got from Tec on Friday was it would be escalated to IT tech again & maybe they would test ie . So 1 mth passes & no resolve. Worth the $199 Price?
