Ipod 4th generation classic use in my Ford 2011 edge
Scorpio replied to desireep's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Mine works fine with the combo USB/AV input cable - plays&loads vids/song including playlists etc. -
Always the golden rule before any car purchase - test drive test drive test drive!
-
Chalk it up to the offbeat Ford model order differences - cooled seats in an MKX "yes", Edge "no"; HID's on an Edge Limited "yes", Edge Sport "no"...go figure.
-
Is this MFT really that bad in earlier versions? Or is it a hit or miss kinda thing? Mine had the latest 2.11 installed prior to picking it up new just last week, and I've experienced none of these "issues" *knock on wood*....
-
Happy with the 20" Pirelli's too, for the early going at least. Did a decently long road trip on 'em this past week and I noted how quiet they were for highway cruising, and were very stable in some heavy rain/snow we encountered on one stretch. Going with a set of dedicated snow tires/winter wheels too, but I do live in Canada after all and we have some real winters up here LOL.
-
Now that foot wave thing would be great no doubt with an armfull of "stuff" LOL! I'm sure with our Canadian winters, the AWD'll be tested to the max - dedicated snow tires/wheels going on soon for extra insurance.

Congrats and welcome

Picked the car (loaded 2012 Limited AWD) up middle of last week, and just got home from a weekend road trip where we put aprx 1k km on it, mostly highway of course. So some first impressions: - very comfortable and quiet ride, tire noise in particular was practically non-existant (20" Pirelli Scorpions). - interior room and stowage is more than adequate for two on a weekend getaway; really like the power open/close liftgate - thumbs up there. Add keyless entry/go to that list of great things you didn't know you really liked until you tried 'em. Nothing like running up to the car in pouring rain and opening the just-in-time unlocking doors without having to fumble for a key. - car was very stable with great road manners, very sure footed and confidence inspiring in nasty weather; not a great handler though, but then it's not supposed to be a sports car. We also have an Acura RDX that is much better in that respect, but also rides noticeably harsher. - Navigation, and MFT in general, worked very well with no glitches. - pleasantly surprised at the usefulness of the passive cruise control; in light to moderate highway traffic it worked very well, maintaining speed and distance behind other vechicles very unobtrusively, and returning to set speed when pulling into a clear lane to pass. All without touching any peddles or controls - impressive. - rainsensing wipers, not so impressive. Had some heavy rain, and even snow, at times and the rain sensing function just didn't seem to have much sense. It always lagged it seemed, and then would wipe when there was a clear windsheild with no moisture. - climate control, with the usual "I like it cool, she likes it warm" setting, worked very well. Well enough to keep the complaints down, so that worked for me! - still a new engine, with few miles, but FWIW highway mileage was in the 22-23 mpg range with cruise set right around 65mph. - all the multiple displays are a little daunting at first, but you quickly acclimatize to them; still getting used to just talking to the car to tell it what I want though LOL. All in all, a very pleasant and satisfied first taste of Edge ownership - two thumps up!

With mine 3.39's came with the 20" wheel package, otherwise it would have been 3.16's with the stock 18" wheels.
-
Is there maybe something else packaged with the 20" wheel option on the SEL? Or maybe it's just a U.S. thing - up here in the great white north, the 20" option is the same price for both SEL and Limited - $800.

Have never seen that one myself, but it certainly looks sharp in your gallery pics! There was another new shade - "Ginger Ale" that arrived alongside mine, another light colour that looks good too. We're taking ours on a bit of a road trip for a weekend getaway tomorrow, so will put some serious miles on it then. The MFT is coming into focus better too now LOL - a bit of a steep learning curve, but not too bad afterall once you get the hang of the basics. And if there's something you don't know how to do, just ask the car - it works!
-
Thanks, wanted a colour that's easy to keep clean, I'm done with black cars LOL!

If you're a member at Costco, just present your membership card to your dealer sales rep and he'll take it from there for your $1G discount, worked for me!

Just got back from pickup and a couple hours just driving around wasting gas LOL. Very very nice is the overall first impression. I'm still at the "mesmerized" stage with MFT, but at least it hasn't presented any of the glitches I've read about here. Paired with my Samsung phone first try and downloaded all my contacts/info without a hitch, even recognizes and plays my MP3's I have on there as well. Navi works well and loads quickly on startup, and seems accurate as these things go too. But there is a LOT, and not a lot of it really intuitive IMO to using the full gamut of MFT - it's going to take awhile I guess to fully acclimatize to it I guess. As least I have the auto temp set and radio stations tuned in LOL. A few pics, it was raining hard all day, so not the best of pics but here they are anyway...

Quick update, car arrived at the dealership today (shipping delay hung the car up a bit in transit), went in and finalized the paperwork, I only had a short window of opportunity from work to get that part done so didn't hang on for them to complete the full PDI process - picking it up tomorrow morning! P.S. these things must be popular, dealer had 8 new 2012's arriving today and they were all presold!

I'm out east on the Rock, ordered the following 2012 Limited AWD 301A: Driver's Entry Package, power lift-gate, vision package, BLIS, MFT Canadian Touring Package: Panoramic roof, voice-activated navigation HID's Class II towing package 20" chrome wheels with 245/50-20 tires Adaptive cruise control Back-lit doorsills All weather floor mats I considered the Sport, but from what I've read, you don't really notice the slight bump in engine size/power and you take a bit of a hit in gas mileage too, so I passed and went with the Limited instead. It's been aprx 4 weeks now.
-
Congrats, I know how you feel - my loaded 2012 Limited is supposed to arrive tomorrow at my dealership! The wait was hard LOL
-
I've had best results for winter traction with both Blizzaks and Michelin X-Ice snow tires. The Blizzaks did wear very fast though I found in comparison to others I've had.
-
I have the AWD, but still need true snow tires for our Canadian winters IMO, thanks!
-
How much did the dealer charge for that wheel/tire package? TIA!

2011 Edge Limited HID & DRL ??
Scorpio replied to Circle3's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
A friend recently did this with a Ford he'd imported from the U.S. - the dealer did indeed enable DRL's by reprogramming the vechicle's PCM. Not sure what they had to actually change in the programming, but he definitely has DRL's working now on a U.S. market car. -
Looks good!

That just does not sound right, car doors out of whack like that is a sure sign you still have some serious underlying damage. One other thing is to claim "loss of value" that the car has suffered since it's been in an accident. This is a separate check issued to cover the subsequent decrease in book value caused by the accident. Good luck!

Thanks for the tip!
