When I changed the pads and rotors on my XB there was an adhesive to put between the pad and the caliper to help with noise issues. My thought was maybe the stuff on the wheels is that. possibly getting hot and melting then finding its way to the wheel... Just a thought

You should never rely on the BSM. It is there in case you miss something not so you don't have to turn your head...... This is why technology like this scares me......

I did some searching around and There seems to be a common issue with the 11 equinox having engine issues with stalling and leaving people stranded, also steering issues and HVAC controls shorting out and transmission issues... your wife has been lucky.... I will take a MFT that frustrates me slightly...... At least I know I will make it home.... Ford is trying to fix the issues with MFT many Equinox owners have been told sucks to be you by their dealers....

Sorry there is a huge difference between 5% of the time and 80% of the time........ There are no lives at stake..... What is really that important with the MFT that you couldn't pull over and figure out what you need to... Unless there is auto pilot installed and no one told me I really don't think any ones life is at stake. It even tells you do not touch the screen unless safe to do so... comparing a million dollar aircraft and a $30,000-$40,000 car is a bit far fetched.... The aircraft is in the sky and a car is on the ground.. A car malfunctions unless it is the brakes, headlights at night or the steering you are still good to go... I don't believe anyone is taking the problems with MFT lightly... Many have just had less problems than others..... I personally knew this car pretty much had a computer in it. I never expected it to work 100% of the time. My garmin Nuvi doesn't work 100% of the time. This one just bothers people so much because of the cost of the car..... A major fail would be if it didn't work 80% of the time for everyone.... The other thought is if it was a major fail then no one would be buying one of their vehicles with MFT.....

I have had the same indexing problems you speak of. Just out of curiosity what iPod are you using? I am using the 2nd gen iPod Nano. My indexing only lasts at longest 2 mins. I have cd's and sirius to also listen to so doesn't really bother me that much. As far as the voice response time that sucks. Longest I have had to wait is a few seconds, however it has made the chime then went back to playing music. I have noticed on mine it only does it when I first start the car up. If I do it after I have been driving for a few mins there is very little lag in voice.

Its interesting this was posted today. I ran mine through a touch less wash and it was a little tight width wise. So afterwards I looked to make sure I didn't hit my rims on the round metal bars. I noticed this lovely sticky stuff on mine. Perfect timing. Glad to know it isn't something I did or drove through

I realize this is an old post but I also agree with where the hazard light button is. I am coming from an 08 Scion XB. I loved that the hazard switch was on the drivers side between the gear shift and the heating and cooling controls. I never had to look down when traffic slowed quickly and was able to feel it and hit it with zero problems.

From your post I would be willing to bet you are a very hyper person. Here is the picture you paint in my mind. Push button doesn't work.... Continue pushing button until it does. I have found that it is just like a computer it takes a little bit to start up. I have had a few issues but to be honest they are easily remedied. I have had the black screen once in 2600 miles and 2 months. I left walmart and within 4 mins it did a weekly update and worked normally. It is a little bit sluggish, but to be honest my iPhone 4 gets that way some times. I would be willing to bet that people get in and start pushing a bunch of buttons before the system is ready to go thus causing it to lock up. Take any microsoft computer and start it up then as soon as your desktop shows up give it a bunch of commands and see what happens.... The only really annoying thing I have found is that I never know what will be playing when I get in. I shut the car off on my iPod and next time it is on the radio. Then next time on Sirius. As said simple issues and fixed by changing what is playing...

Possibly when everything is turned on correctly that should be the next place you look. Good Luck!

Personally have never paid attention. Wouldn't have bothered me because of all the black on the car already.... I have the Kona blue so don't notice them either. they don't look bad painted white but not a fan here....

Not sure about the explorer wheels, but I noticed somewhere someone was selling a set of the 18's. That is what I have on my limited. you will get a little bit better fuel economy, plusher ride, and tires will be a little bit cheaper... Just a thought... Plus from looking at your wheel it might possibly save you from hitting rim next time....

11 edge only had it 2 months, have 3,000 miles on it. I get 19.8 around town and recent trip from NY to KY I got between 22-25 mpg with AWD. I personally think that is great. I was only getting 28 mpg on the highway with my 08 xb and we only get 24mpg with my finance's 06 Mazda 6s with the 3.0 V6... Also only get 22mpg with my moms 04 Ford Escape 3.0 V6 4X4...That is max Escape is usually closer to 18 mpg..

I realize cheaper but if you had bought a Hyundai or a KIA, a transmission probably would have been on that list....

Personally I am a 25 year old male that travels the US for work. I leased the 11 Edge Limited Awd. So far I love it. I personally don't think a car is a guys car or a girls car except for a few exceptions. Honestly as long as it is not pink or purple you are good to go. In college I drove a 1998 New Beetle black with a 5 speed. It wasn't very quick but I knew that car inside and out and it handled like a dream in the snow. I was the one with the last laugh when the local evo driver in town picked on me and the next snow storm I passed him. He was more worried about the fact that it was awd and neglected his tires. I also was picked on by many Honda civic owners. thing is unless they drove a EX My lil bug was faster. And in the snow forget it... Now if we were talking about a Mazda RX8 then I would say yes that is a wife car. But the Edge no. If the Edge is classified as a wife car then every SUV or CUV on the planet is a wife car....

Possibly water in the gas? Loose ground?

I have 11 limited awd but should be the same for you. mine is in the left screen next to speedo. I don't remember which menu option it is under but I will look today and post later this afternoon.

not sure on that but have you shut the traction control off?

I have found that tilt open then shut right back up and that helps a bit

I have the iPhone 4 not the s here and mine works fine as well too. I can't speak for the s. But as far as the iPhone you currently have it is the 2nd iPhone. I believe the update only went back as far as the 3Gs not the 3G. There was iPhone(2007), iPhone 3G(2008), iPhone 3Gs(2009), iPhone 4(2010), & iPhone 4S(2011).

As far as the update, isn't a problem because you register your vin number with syncmyride.com so it knows what you have in your car.

I get a little confused when people say they can't afford winter tires... You can afford a $50,000 car but you can't afford another $1000 in tires and wheels? I would say if money is that tight you shouldn't have bout the Lincoln and bought the edge instead.... I live in NY and people here have to have a "sports" car for summer so bad that they go and buy a Camero or mustang and then drive it in the winter.....
