  1. winter fuel isn't as good, takes longer for engine to heat up. i think i read the best gas mileage speed for the edge is around 60-65mph.
  2. now that I have one in there I entered the factory code on the MFT and now it prompts me to add or edit. i didn't enter the one I programmed, so maybe something made it work after I reset the system the other day when it wasn't working right. oh well problem solved.
  3. Now this isn't in regards on how to do it from the keypad itself as I was able to do that. But I noticed in the settings on the MFT that you could set a code from there. Now it tells you to input the factory keypad code, which I did, and then hit enter. I did this and nothing happened, didn't recognize it or anything. So I guess my question is, has anyone got this to work? I was able to set a new code from the keypad using that same factory code so not sure why it's not working there, unless I am totally mixing this up and it is something else, haha.
  4. so if you think people should get a free nav upgrade if they don't have it, what do the people that have the nav already get?
  5. Yeah I don't think you can expect them to give you free upgrades on your car. But as akirby said, free maintenance or extended warranty would probably be more along the lines of what they should give out. You can't say every Edge owner, because this system affects more than just Edge owners.
  6. for my 2012 Edge Sport AWD the sticker was 43,990. I got it for 38,500 after A-plan and $1500 in incentives.
  7. yeah that's what I thought. I think he was going to see if he could copy the SD card for me as well. I know they are write protected but they just have the switch on the side so we'll see. If not I'll just wait and enjoy pulling the fuse out anytime I have issues, yesterday was the first time in my week of ownership.
  8. when motor oil is used it turns dark almost black in color, so from the sounds of it, it could very well be this. Did you inspect around the oil drain plug?
  9. After talking with my Uncle who works for Ford and has the beta software, he said it really is no better off. He said although it looks better, it is just as bad function which is why they haven't released it yet. He said he can send me the file but not sure since I have navigation if it will work without the latest SD card (he is using that in his Explorer). Does anyone know if it will work correctly without the latest SD maps?
  10. if you want to know if something is going to work, measure the inside diameter of the Edge MAF housing, and then measure the inside diameter of other MAF housing, they should be exactly the same, if not then its a no go. although there is also more than just matching maf housing sizes, but that is the main thing.
  11. after reading through this, I know it's been a month as well, but seeing that you were running rich with this intake and have a rough idle tells me that the maf housing for this intake is probably slightly smaller than the stock intake maf housing. the slightly smaller housing causes you to run rich even though you have put a free-er flowing intake on. reason is for that given voltage the ecu expects a certain amount of airflow, so say if your maf is reading 1.3V, in that section of the table for the MAF it might expect 7grams/second of air. But since the housing is smaller 1.3V might actually only be 5g/s of air but your ecu is injecting enough fuel for 7g/s so this is why you run a little rough and through that CEL of running rich. Now I'm not saying that with the intake you are flowing less air, I'm just saying for any given voltage the ecu is expecting more air then is actually being read by the maf. Now on cars you have what are called fuel trims and as long as you are within a certain range you won't throw a CEL, there are short term (these are corrections the engine is making on the fly) and long term (this is an average of your short term trims). On my mazdaspeed6 it would throw a CEL if your LTFT were +/-25%, meaning it was either pulling or adding 25% fuel. When adding an intake it would be nice to see what your trims are, be it with some kind of data logging tool. Fuel trims are never going to be zero because things such as climate and the gas you put in affect them, but they are there to keep your engine running right. You may have known all this, but I figured I'd share it since I learned a ton about it while tuning my speed6 over the past years.
  12. out of curiosity, is that a generic maf housing?
  13. a simple google search and I don't even see spectre making these parts for the edge. is this just a generic maf housing that works with the ford maf? i'd take it off because I said before and others it's not right for your car, the maf scalar is probably off and it is miscalculating the airflow. heck even with an intake made for the car it should still be tuned. with my mazdaspeed6 the maf had to be calibrated all the time for different modifications, so I don't see it being any different here. now a days you can't just slap parts on and expect them to run perfect.
  14. well my 2012 edge sport seems to have it's first symptoms of 2.11 buggy software today. started car up and I had no audio, i'd push the audio screen and it wouldn't go. so after I came back out from the store my audio started working again, but not the voice button on the steering wheel doesn't work. ughhh
  15. i dont' think i'd waste the money to change it out myself. now if ford came forward and says hey yeah we made the change and explains it, that's a different story. i'm going to wait and see if they reply to my email.
  16. hmmm interesting. well I emailed Ford just to see what they say about it.
  17. it said 2012 the other day, i think they just changed that to 2013 recently. here this spec sheet says true dual, http://media.ford.com/images/10031/2012_EdgeSport_Specs.pdf
  18. and if you got to fordparts.com and look up the exhaust for the 2012 this is what it shows. but i'm curious to the awd vs fwd comparison.
  19. you need to scroll down to where it says Powertrain Sport
  20. you never have to pay full price for sirius. for the past 5 years on my speed6 (prior to being totaled) i never paid full price, i just call them up and say i'm probably going to cancel or just not renew and they say oh well what about this deal, then I always say "I don't know, I can use my cellphone for free internet radio so I don't really need it" then they offer me another deal. I was usually paying like $5 a month.
  21. the engine light that came on was probably one having to do with system being to lean due to what I would think the maf housing size being different than that of stock. as long as the maf housing is the same size as stock you shouldn't really have issues as far as air flow goes.
