  1. I don't get a vibration when stopped, but I do get a very low hum, sometimes it sounds like a neighboring car has a lot of bass. I've turned off the environmental controls, and it doesn't change. Once I get going it goes away. For some reason i think its the transmission.
  2. Here is the towing guide from Ford as well: http://www.ford.com/resources/ford/general/pdf/towingguides/12FLRVTT_EdgeJul21.pdf I reckon that tongue weight will reduce your GVWR from 909 to the weight on the hitch. I am not a towing pro, but I sure can back a trailer in a tight space with my old Ranger.
  3. Late to the game, but did you need to get a flasher replacement for the LEDs, or is the Edge smart enough to blink them properly?
  4. How much of the 3M wrap did you guys order? I want to make my Edge black on Tuxedo Black.
  5. Down the road, perhaps. I like the JL Cleansweep DSP with a good amp, perhaps a stealthbox too, but for now, they're much better.
  6. Ford states that the most you should pull is 3500 pounds (trailer included) with the 3.5L engine.
  7. Today I finished my speaker replacements. It's too bad that Boston Acoustics is getting out of the car audio game, but I was able to pick up some of their speakers for a pretty good price. I put SR80 speakers in the front, and they barely fit in the opening. I had to cut off the alignment tabs for the factory paper speakers, and was only able to get 3 screws in the factory holes. I had to put self tapper in the for the 4th hole. But they went in, and sound great. I also put in SC85 speakers in the back, and had to finagle the speakers into the mounting holes, but I won in the long run. I don't know what other car companies use, but these stock speakers up front are the cheapest speakers I've ever seen. The plastic tweeter, paper woofer, in a plastic basket is pretty lame. What I was surprised me was that the inside door frame is all plastic bolted to the edge of the frame. Everything is back together, and it sure sounds much nicer. I'm working up a step by step removal guide and replacement guide. Hanging the door panel back on is a bit tricky if you don't know what to look for.
  8. I've had good luck with my tire shine on the trim pieces.
  9. I replaced all my interior lamps with LEDs and never had this problem. Sorry.
  10. I set this up as a joke on my wife's keys. You need to go in with the key you want to use as the MyKey and turn on the ignition (i don't think you need to actually start the car). Go to setting and select MyKey, and then Select create My Key. A little status thingy will show up. Then set the all draconian restrictions on your Edge. I can't wait to do this in 15 years when my son can drive. But I'll probably find him a beat up stick shift truck instead.
  11. I need to get these facto paper speakers out of my my Edge. My last vehicles, I did a complete swap, head unit and speakers. Now, with the MFT head unit, is there any limitations in the sound quality driving the speakers? I'm considering component speakers, or a nice set of coaxials, I just don't want to get speakers too much speaker for the head unit.
  12. I had a nice billet grill on my last 2 rangers, and kind of would like to see it on my Edge too.
  13. I've been eying your puddle lamps and drls. First thing first thou: speakers, hitch, remote start. Then fancy awesome lighting.
  14. I was dinking around on the fordparts.com site, and found an interesting tidbit. There is a "Side Repeater Lamp Assembly" part number 13368 and a Chassis Wire Harness Jumper 14A411. Is this a Euro part, and has any tried to fit it to their current Edge?
  15. Has anyone tried to beef up the LED light conductors? I swear, depending on the bulb, i have a problem finding the sweet spot seating the bulb. Interiors, not that big of a problem, but I just hooked new reverse LED, and I finally got it to light. I hope it hold after a few months, days, but I'm not to sure. Anyone else have this issue?
  16. How did you de-badge? Did you need to touch up the paint?
  17. I just got my Edge with the 18" rims. I wouldn't even think of putting snows on a 22. Personally, I am going to get 17" rims for the winter and put Blizzaks on them. IMHO smaller rim gives you better winter handling, and a whole lot cheaper. 22" winter rims must be brutal. Wouldn't they be 56cm in Ontario?
  18. It must be some karma thing between me and my father and our vehicles, but it was quite amazing. Only 3 days after taking delivery, I drove to my parents house for something. I don't think it was a necessary trip, but when you have a new ride, all trips are necessary. As I was leaving, my father comes down the driveway on his bike to tell me something totally unimportant. And upon leaving, his bike scratches the paint. 'Tis but a scratch, but now I try to think back to years when I was riding my bike up and down the driveway, the same driveway. How many inane questions did I ask my Dad that led my bike to scratching his truck? Well, the number is evening out.
  19. This is from the Ford site: http://accessories.ford.com/vehicles/edge/2011/electronics/dvd-systems.html But I'm willing to guess there is a local shop that can do something better for the same price or darn near. But have you looked at getting an iPad headrest mount? You'll get a bigger screen, and you can use it when you are not in the car.
  20. My headliner wasn't seated properly from the factory. I pushed the edge of the headliner up, and it "clicked" in. Try that along the headliner edge to reseat it. That could bring it back up.
  21. Any hacking of the rear bumper needed? I want to put bikes on my edge, not in my edge.
  22. Howdy all, I just took delivery of my new 2012 Edge. It's a strange thing to behold, since this is my first non Ranger and automatic i've ever owned (I've owned two 5-speed Rangers since 1995). The biggest saving grace is the fact that it has the shifter in the center, so I don't do any phantom grabs, and I can pretend to shift with the toggle button (No flappy paddle gearbox). See you all around.
