As a side note, on the GDI EB engines, if you notice soot regularly building up on the tailpipes, one solution that seems to work is to mix your regular gasoline with a wee shot of E85. Bumping it up to E15 (max) with E85 from E10 base gasoline has provided anecdotal proof that it works. If you monitor Knock Retard, and are experiencing positive numbers, a shot of E85 can help bring them back down to 0 or negative.

Very common problem on the Edge. Using lower power LEDs and/or replacing the socket are solutions tried & true. Lexus, part deux?

CPO? Under original B2B warranty? May just be low on ptu fluid or need a fluid change. There has been at least 1 instance of new driveshaft bearings being needed also.

On the Edge 2.0L EB, the fuel pump was/is one of the main issues. I am sure there are other issues, but rare to hear of any on this forum (yet). Now if we expand the scope of the question to the 3.5L EB in transverse applications (SHO, Flex, Explorer Sport), we find very infrequent (but not rare) cases of leakage from turbo seals, turbo oil lines, fuel injectors, and valve covers.

I am just afraid that people will not take their Edge in for the recall check for fear of it being hijacked and quarantined for the full trimester, not having equivalent transportation in the meantime, and not knowing the depreciation suffered either. I hope for the best, that everyone remains safe.

The FSM uses the upper quick connect coupling on the EVAP Canister Purge Valve (mounted on the firewall) + smoke machine + IDS to diagnose the system. I don't know if there is an easy equivalent to the vacuum leak test with smoke in the intake for the EVAP system. Check underneath for any damage to the vent lines/canister. The fuel cap area at the filler neck/flap may be dirty and in need of cleaning. Or the purge solenoid may finally be past its' prime. On older cars (pre OBD2) if the purge valve was at fault, the fix (temporary or permanent) would be to bypass the valve completely and connect the 2 hoses to each other directly so the purge is happening all the time. IDK if this would create problems on the Edge or not.

Had the Edge in-shop for exhaust smell in cabin and very recently, oil smell in addition. They found a leak in the LH Valve Cover (failed gasket), seems to be A-OK now. Time will tell. No cost, thanks Ford ESP!

If you a] don't face very slippery conditions and b] pay attention/don't drive aggressively and c] have great all-season or season-appropriate tires with good depth on the Edge, FWD should be just fine. Good tires are a MUST. AWD does give you more control of the vehicle should it slip, as all 4 wheels can be controlled rather than just the front two. I think the AWD is primed, but not really active until there is a loss of traction situation. Here in MD, it is common to have road surfaces with varying degrees of traction, whether it's due to leaves & grass clippings or oil slicks or snow/slush/ice all at the same time. While driver involvement is still important, it's nice (to me) to have that little extra comfort zone, insurance if you will. This is my first AWD in many, many years of driving. Maybe you can tell on the 2011+ when the system is working, I don't think you can on the 2007-10.

Monroe 901848. Not listed for 2007, but listed for 2008. Go figure. Working well for me so far. The only place needed to apply some (not a lot) force is to get it to start closing.
