2016 was the first year for the Edge (and quite a few other Fords) for SYNC 3.

For overseas, non North America, Sync 3 started in 2017.

A closer pic - not the clearest or latest. This is what i have now, im out of the country at the moment to take an actual picture.

This is MyFord Touch, also known as Sync 2. If you want a good upgrade, you can find Sync 3 upgrades in Ebay or AliExpress.

und the part number for the Ford OEM blades: FT4Z-17528-CA and FT4Z-17528-BA and ordered online from a dealer.  The blades came in Motorcraft boxes with different part numbers:  WW-2760-A and WW-2755-A.

As per the Owners Manual, the part numbers listed are the MotorCraft numbers, WW-2755 (driver side)   WW-2760 (passenger side)   WW-1414 (rear window).

On the MotorCraft packaging, both, the Ford and MotorCraft numbers are mentioned.

After seeing my photo, I just noticed there are newer part number with (-A) in the suffix. Can't see the difference except for packaging, plastic for the old ones and carton for the newer ones.

Regarding the brushless radiator fan which is included in the performance brake and tire package. The only thing I can figure is because it is more efficient, they can run it more often resulting in more constant air flow in the engine compartment and around the brake area of the wheels?? There must be a reason it is part of the package.

I'll add one more question, is it a simple replacement upgrade to the regular one?

Checking on Tasca Parts, I can only find one part number for all Edge models/trims, 2015 to 2023. https://www.tascaparts.com/oem-parts/ford-engine-cooling-fan-assembly-f2gz8c607e

but my concern is the two differentials whenever there's an odd sized wheel used.

I would be less concerned with the differentials as they are open diffs, they are routinely rotating at different speeds any time the car is not going straight ahead.

The PTU is a straight gear link, and hence cannot tolerate any rotational speed difference between both sides, hence the clutch pack that engages/disengages when needed, not only for traction, but to also prevent binding between front and read on hard turns.

Just wondering, can you use a smaller diameter tire as a spare. I know on some vehicles it can damage the all-wheel drive system and you have to use the same diameter tire as a spare.  ????

The stock compact spare tire is smaller in diameter than the regular wheels/tires and it causes the AWD to disconnect. It defaults to FWD only.

    From the owners manual:

    Quote

Do not use a spare tire of a different size other than the tire provided. If the mini-spare tire is installed, the AWD system may disable automatically and enter front-wheel drive only mode to protect driveline components. A warning in the information display appears, indicating that the system is in front-wheel drive only mode. See Information Messages. If there is a warning message in the information display from using the spare tire, this indicator should turn off after reinstalling the repaired or replaced normal road tire and cycling the ignition off and on. We recommend that you reinstall the repaired or replaced road tire as soon as possible. Major dissimilar tire sizes between the front and rear axles could cause the AWD system to stop functioning and default to front-wheel drive or damage the AWD system.

    Omar302,

maybe you could help me as well.

I have 2012 Explorer which has touch FCIM (no physical buttons) and which I was unfortunate to brake so my emergency button has crashed and stopped working. I sourced FCIM from same model year Explorer and swapped with the broken one. Everything seems to be working except that it is not really. The fan speed goes to maximum on its own every so often. This happening all the time once vehicle has warmed up (that is the reason I suspecting). To reduce the speed of the fan I can only use FCIM button, if I try to use IPC screen for that, the fan speed goes up right away. It is either bad CB on FCIM  or I need to replace the firmware to match the original one.

BTW, my Explorer never had the option to heat or cool the seats when remote starting which kinda sucks. Maybe my model year did not have that ability and it maybe more involved rather then just a firmware update.

Do you have any thoughts on that?

To me it sounds like the replacement FCIM is bad.

    Good day,

I am looking to see if anyone knows how to keep the heated seats and steering wheel on after a remote start and after getting in the vehicle and hitting the start button.  I know about all the remote start settings in the IPC, that's not what I am talking about.  On my 2019 F150 Lariat, after I remote start either in the winter or summer, when I get in the vehicle (after remote starting) the truck will keep the heated steering wheel and seats on after pushing the start button.  Or in the summer it will keep the cooled seats on.  In my 2016 MKX after remote starting and getting in and pushing the start button, the heated seats and wheel turn off.  They work automatically when remote starting but I'd like them to stay on like my truck does.  All IPC settings match in both vehicles, not sure if this is a firmware thing or can be enabled in forscan.  Thanks.

I got it to work on my 2016 Edge as you describe by updating the firmware of the FCIM using ForScan. I have done several years ago so I don't remember the details. However, I do not have a heated steering wheel, so I can't confirm it, but the cooled seats do stay on. Also if I manually start the vehicle, the cooled seats will turn on if they were on last time before turning the engine off.

Doing some work on my wife's Edge and looks like she's got the common lug swell going on.  Read through the various posts on this but don't seem to have a consensus on replacements.  Corrosion matters here in the northeast so that's a factor.  Her existing ones made it about 4 years.  Can anyone confirm these are indeed the same as the Edge lugs (even though they are made for the F150)?  ACPZ-1012-B (vs the -M) I don't want to go to a 22mm just for her sake on the side of the road somewhere.  Chrome or black, doesn't matter.  At this price I'm ok with replacing again in 4 years but if we need to buy the $6-7 per ones specific to the Edge there have to be better one piece non rusting options out there I'd think Any help is appreciated as always!

I don't recall reading about someone using them in an Edge. But being different might mean there is an "engineering" thing and hence I would not recommend it.

If you need cheaper OEM, you can get them cheaper by buying the Ford Performance set for the Mustang which uses the same lug nuts as the 2015+ Edge. See here for more details on my experience.

Ok, according to the research I just did, the Gen 2 came out in 2018 and has the dual fuel injectors (one to keep the intake valve clean). The Gen 2 is also known as the Nano and is the same engine. What I don't know is what year they started using it in the Edge St. I'm guessing 2019?

The intake manifold part number (this on Tasca) is the same for all 2015+ Ford Edge 2.7 models, however, it is only for 2015-2017 F-150 models. The intake manifold would have been changed in case port injection was added to the 2019+ Edge. In my opinion, this is a confirmation that the Edge/Nautilus did NOT get the 2nd generation Nano.

  10. Just a clarification, the extra noise in my Edge after the sunroof glass replacement is noticable only with the sunroof shade open.

Also, going through the order guides, it seems 2021 is the year they changed the standard "Acoustic-Laminate Windshield" to "Laminated Windshield" and also the "Acoustic-Laminate Front Row Side Windows" is not mentioned anymore for the Titanium & ST models.

  11. Take the 2024 for a test drive first. I personally have NOT driven one, but given the recent sunroof glass change I had on my 2016 and how the replacement is not acoustic glass, similar to 2019+ models, and that even the front side windows are also no more acoustic on newer models (not sure which year it started), I suspect you'll feel quite a difference in noise levels.

I really do hope so. I ordered new brackets (apparently called "lift arms" by Ford) and the clips required to remove & reinstall the rear roof side trims. They need a couple of weeks to arrive. Hopefully they will fix the rattling and reduce the wind noise.

Lift arms replaced. However, wind noise the same. It is definitely the acoustic roof vs. regular glass.

  13. The paper manual also affects the environment, especially when many, if not most, don't use the paper copy. It is also easier to find information being searchable.

The cost of the paper manual would eventually be passed on to the consumer.

For easier/quicker access, you can download a PDF version of the manual to your devices to have access anytime. The PDF can be downloaded under "Past Printings" > Documents.

    Hi all,

my wife was complaining about Sync not working on her 2015 Edge Sport so I found the update  "SYNC2 v3.10" and went to work. No issues installing the update and it did in fact install perfectly in about thirthy minutes and all I needed to do after that was reconnect our phones to the blutooth and once again all went as planned.

My only issue is that the update suggests going back to the PC with the Thumb drive which will now have an .xml file that needed to be updated with Ford. I found the file without issue but then it says "SELECT THE .XML FILE" and then "SELECT FILE BUTTON BELOW" which does not exist. I now have no idea how to get this file to Ford to inform them of the update.

I should add that I had none of the reported issued with navigation and as stated it was a perfect installation.

    Any ideas please.

    Regards,

    Doug.

There is no real benefit in reporting the update. Previously it would have only updated the installed sync version so or Ford would know. But as you have already now installed the latest version, and there are no further updates coming, you're not gaining anything.

Don't worry about it or waste any time on it.

I would think replacing those brackets would solve the wind noise.

The glass is being lifted during higher speed driving.

  16. There are 2 tie down hooks (loops), make sure they are not under the loose panel, otherwise the panel will not fully seat.

Also, the storage bins have raised nibs that go in to slots under the panel. So if they are not aligned correctly, the panel would also not seat correctly.

When the glass is closed, there doesn't seem to be any looseness.

As for the sound, it doesn't sound like air leak, rather wind noise from behind the glass. I distinguish it more because I had it in my previous 2011 MKX that had a tempered glass sunroof. When I first got the Edge I remember immediately noticing the lack of wind noise from the sunroof with the shade open compared to the MKX, and I had attributed it to the laminated glass.

The difference in wind noise is similar to when riding in another vehicle that is not equipped with "Acoustic-Laminate Glass".

The Acoustic Laminated Sunroof seems to have been dropped by Ford in 2019, as can be seen in the description in 2018 & 2019 Ford Edge order guides.
