I understand you. You can see the disconnection in action between the 2:15 and 2:25 marks.
-
All model years have RDU with clutches. So when the clutches are disengaged it effectively "disconnects" the rear differential from the driveshaft. Pre 2019, the driveshaft will still turn because it is connected to the PTU/Transmission/Engine, while the rear differential will turn based on the speeds of the rear wheels. 2019+ models, the driveshaft stops rotating when the PTU disconnects. As can be seen in this video:

Honestly, I don't know. But I'd guess it is either the motor itself is weak or the lift strut is not helping enough.

If I am not mistaken, that update is for the tuner itself, not the tune. You need to contact them to check if there is a tune update. If there is, then they can push them to your tuner.

All the codes show "Previously Set DTC - Not Present at Time of Request" making me think they came after you disconnected the module. Did you try to clear codes? If yes, do they come after that one cycle?

Factory perimeter alarm
omar302 replied to Hollywood1's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Your ST should already have a Perimeter alarm. The only function the VSS would add to your ST is the shock sensor. I found 2023 installation instructions (here) and no special programming is required for VSS functions since if already have the key fob remote start from the factory. -
2014 Ford Edge - Backup camera working intermittently
omar302 replied to NickCo's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I have had the front camera randomly misbehave. Some times a scrolling display view and/or a dark distorted image. When the issue became more frequent, I bought a cheap replacement (~$27), however, after installation it was apparently designed as a rear view camera as the image was inverted (left/right) and it had the rear fixed guidelines. Also the 180 view did not work. Camera also would not program/calibrate with ForScan. So returned it and reinstalled the old camera as is. But, the misbehaving went away for a while, and now started coming back but much less frequently. Suggesting a contact issue. As I did not do the installation myself, I didn't check of corrosion, next time might do as you did and add die electric grease after cleaning the contacts.- 17 replies

These part numbers seem to indicate replacement for the original pan that was designed for the correct model years with RTV silicone sealant, meaning should be with the check valve. But since it is aftermarket, there are no guarantees. Also, not clear which gasket was used, or whether is affects the check valves operations. If you're asking for a recommendation, it would seem that an OEM pan and gasket from the latest TSB 24-2345 should be the best option. Alternatively, maybe try to contact the aluminum pan's manufacturer for advise. Maybe it would work fine with the correct gasket, or perhaps your issue is not related to the pan.

There is no Aluminum OEM oil pan for these engines. So the replacement is aftermarket and you have to know exactly which it is. If it was designed similarly to 2018-2020 model years, then yes, the valve covers should have been replaced. Ford did have the below warning (see the TSB in this post😞 CAUTION: Do not use the oil pan with press-in-place gasket on 2015-2017 model year vehicles as this oil pan is not equipped with a positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) check valve. Installation of this oil pan on a 2015-2017 model year vehicle will result in oil consumption which may result in engine damage.

Yes. It is not available on the Play store, however, they do now offer an independent version that can be side loaded and license purchased. I originally had the the Play store version and when it stopped working ForScan gave me a license for the independent version and it works.

You can get it directly from ForScan's site. The "Independent edition".

For me I would recommend ForScan lite with the OBDLink MX+ adapter. The OBDLink MX+ also comes with an included app that can also read enhanced diagnostic codes, not just the check engine light, and for most vehicles. The license included with the OBDlink MX+ allows to read enhanced codes for most 1996+ vehicles.

OEM Control Arms : revisions or supersessions
omar302 replied to razziel24's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
As @Wubster100 stated above, sometimes different letters indicate different features or specs, also like different spring or shock rates. However, for the part numbers you listed, the are superceding numbers with the K version being the latest. See this listing where it is clearly stating that the K version replaces the older ones. If you enter any of the older numbers it will automatically take offer you the K version. So all will work, what changed between versions will probably remain a mystery to customers. Generally the latest is the best. -
2016 Edge in the US had Sync 3.
-
Not through the vehicle. But can be disabled using an app called ForScan.

I have recently tried some D3S LED replacements from AliExpress on my Edge. They are cheap at about $35 for the pair and hence they last about 1 year only. But they are considerably brighter than HID. Removing the old bulbs and installing the new one can be done without removing the headlights. I have done it several times now.

ForScan can flash the PCM firmware. But you will need a paid license, a very good wired adapter, and to know which Firmware versions are required.
-
You could look into using ForScan to update the PCM software. It can do it.

Heated and Cooled Seats
omar302 replied to Wedgeamatic's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Use ForScan with a good adapter. It will read all the modules in the vehicles, including the seat related modules. Not just the generic OBD codes and will greatly help you in the diagnosis. Also, there was a TSB for Also, if the issue is similar, reading this other thread here on the issue and/or this post on the F150 might help. -

How come the Edge's labor time is significantly less than other models? Typo? -
What happened to adaptive steering?
omar302 replied to Wubster100's topic in 2019-Current Edge & Nautilius
It should have it as it was standard on the 2016-2018 Sports. This post shows the difference between steering wheels, with and without. -

I don't remember it being announced, but they just cancelled it quietly. I think it is probably for cost reduction especially since there were issues and a recall or a customer satisfaction recall for it. Also, probably because the feature didn't seem to get enough credit from reviews or owners to make it feasible. Although I personally like the feature and find it useful. -
Also, as far as I know, the oil life monitor also takes into account time with the maximum time being 12 months. So if you change the oil as suggested above at 50%, you would be more certainly changing the oil at no more than 5,000 mile or 6 months from when it was last reset. Or you can interpolate the interval you want, knowing that 100% means 10k miles or 12 months. For example, 60% oil life balance would mean 4k miles or 4.8 months.
