  1. Richy: Do you keep the engine running when you detail it?
  2. Jwallace: That's how ideas are formed and/or shaped. As for the turbo idea, I think a lot of us who are not the typical Edge demographic (myself included) want a forced induction option. However, you did mention injector change which would be part of it. You'd also need a stronger fuel pump so that the engine does not starve for fuel (especially when you get up to certain horsepower levels). Then, you'd need to do some work on the transmission and even the transaxle so that it can handle the power (e.g. trans cooler). I actually looked at the STS turbo system so that you don't have to worry about further crowding the already crowded engine bay. STS turbos are actually downline on the exhaust system versus in the engine bay. However, one thing I am thinking about comes from the Camaro ZL1/CTS-V. Supercharged cars are prone to heat soak and you can get another cooler with a reservoir for them. Something like that for a forced induction equipped Edge would be a good idea so that the charge temps are further lowered. The reservoir can mount on the right side of the fan housing. For instance, D3 Engineering has one such item for the ZL1 and CTS-V. You'd also need to upgrade the ability for the engine to keep cool which means upgraded radiators and/or fans. I am not a mechanic, either. But I do understand that converting a non-FI car to FI takes a lot of work and patience.
  3. Merry Christmas to all
  4. 2011 Edge Limited 3.5L V6 Forced induction (e.g. supercharger, turbo) Intercooler and/or Heat Exchanger Transmission upgrades including a trans cooler Headers Rear Sway Bar Improved front Sway Bar Front Strut Tower Brace Paintable lower panels 1" lowering springs Boost gauges Upgraded radiators Methanol Injection Blow-off valves More cat-back exhaust options Coilovers That's all I can think of for the moment.....
  5. Wizard: Funny you say that. They said the exactly the same thing. Considering my dust covers are already "modified" from the HID install, I probably could make a larger hole for the fan.
  6. Now, you see why I am considering them. My sole concern is how they are going to handle the extreme heat down here.
  7. The dealer uses Valvoline semi-synthetic. I won't have to change it for 5000 miles.
  8. Forgot to mention... Friday: Got the oil changed and got it washed Saturday: Drove from one part of Phoenix to another....literally
  9. I got the feedback from VLEDs and confirmed the output is 4500 lumens per bulb (9000 lumens for both). These bulbs plus the LED bar (another 8000 lumens) are going to give me all the forward light I am going to need, especially when the weather turns inclement.
  10. Researching upgraded lighting options. We have some road trips to Chicago planned this coming year.
  11. Wizard: Thanks. That's why I really want to consider them. The last trip from Phoenix to Chicago sealed the need to make some lighting changes.
  12. Researching these further is causing me to lean toward the VLED LED headlights. http://www.vleds.com/headlights/lmz-ultra-2669.html
  13. For the record, my yardstick for light output is when I had low and high beam HIDs in my 2008 Edge. That combination was 11200 lumens when all lights were activated. The light output of the Oracle LEDs (4400 lumens) is pretty darned good.
  14. I do have a set of these on mine and can say I like these way better than the Pirelli Scorpion Verdes I was originally looking at. The gripe about the reduction in mileage is true when driving around the city. However, I did average 22-24 mpg on a trip to Chicago with 3 people and a fully loaded Edge. Coming back, the mileage dropped to 19 due to the loaded storage bin on top adding drag.
  15. I like the feature on the Equinox where you can set the height of how far the tailgate opens. Are they planning to incorporate that for the Edge?
  16. The Explorer and Taurus Interceptors are used by Arizona DPS. Two officers I talked with loved the Explorers.
  17. Dominatron: I am currently running a HID kit with 9006 bulbs and they fit with no issues. Some folks report having to trim one of the tabs in order to get it to fit.
  18. Rest assured, I am getting the LED bar to go with all of these lighting upgrades.
  19. I like the ones by Oracle but I am wondering if we would need the resistor harness considering the pickiness of the electrical system. Plus, I want to get Dan's LED taillights which means I will need resistors there as well.
  20. I just got an email on these. They are claiming 4500 lumens/side. http://www.vleds.com/headlights.html?series=918&mc_cid=9535282791&mc_eid=6941a65c04
  21. My current HIDs are 3200 lumens but I am always interested in higher output, especially if it does not come at the expense of current draw. I am researching these LED headlights which are 4400 lumens but want to see if they will play nice with the Edge's electrical system. http://www.oraclelights.com/automotive-lighting-products/ORACLE-LED-Headlight-Fog--DRL-Bulbs/ORACLE-5202-LED-Headlight-Replacement-Bulbs
  22. Greetings from central AZ.
