  1. I would lean towards the fan sensor being bad. If it happens only at idle and low speeds, it's definitely the radiator fan. (At highway speeds there's enough air flowing through the radiator the keep the engine cool).
  2. Hey EDST777, when I click on the video it reads "video is private" and doesnt play. Only thing left would be the large actuator. Could try disconnecting it and see if that's what is pulling the door down.
  3. I had problems at first, finally pulled the car out into the street and was able to make the link work. Needs a perfectly clear path to the satellite. (Had problems when in the garage and when under a large tree. Great reception in garage after initial linkup.)
  4. Reading the reviews on tirerack.Com one got 44k (and felt that had they been rotated during the first 13k would have gotten 50k), and the second got 49k. Have these one my wife's Sebring convertible and expect 50-60k. Excellent tires, quiet, smooth and excel traction. Tire pressure & rotation are key factors to longevity.
  5. Sunshade has to be open fully before the moon roof will open. At least that's the way it works on mine and the cars I've played with.
  6. Never heard of using brake cleaner, but several have reported good results using electric contact cleaner. Has to be sprayed directly on to the switch contacts. In a previous thread in these forums, one posted photos of exactly how/where to spray.
  7. Love my MKX. Owned many Fords, but my Lincoln is pure luxury. As for Edge & Murando, which one is offering the better deal?
  8. Nice. Great choice for a retirement car. I'd recommend you consider Weathertech all around. Put them in my MKX and never regretted it.
  9. Cool. How did you attach it to the instrument panel?
  10. My guess is new struts are not sufficient. (Did you use OEM or go aftermarket?) It's the side struts that lift door and keep it open. Purpose of big strut is to start lifting procedure to point where side struts can take over and lift to open.
  11. Service manual says ok to use silicone spray. Don't use anything heavier like chassis grease or it will dry out and gum. I like to wipe my rails down with alcohol to get squeaky clean, then silicone.
  12. There is a top and bottom to the net. Top of net is open, bottom closed. Top loops go into upper connection points attached to side panels. Lower outer loops connect to small "tabs" moulded into back panel. Lower inner connectors connect to steel hoops on floor.

    What's Hanging?

It's known as "obstruction of view", and it's illegal in most (if not all) states. Usually a "tag on" ticket after they stop you for some other stuff. A small Christmas tree air freshener is sufficient to get ticketed.
  14. Several have reported success using an electrical contact cleaner. Trick is knowing where to feed the straw into the latch to hit switch contacts. WD40 worked on my old Sable, but doesnt appear to work on the Edge, MKX. Do a search here in the forums. One fellow posted pictures of where to spray. Another responded his was still good few months later.

Escort Passport Max 2. Little more practical for us leadfooter's
  16. Had this problem with mine after I got it. Settled on ammonia and water mixture followed with a final rinse with distilled water. Think it was a thin layer of plastic film from all the vinyls in the car out gassing in the sun. Bitch to get off with just glass cleaner.
  17. Silly question, but are you absolutely certain that the bulbs are not burned out? (Possibly been out for a while and you just noticed them)? Nine years, just saying....
  18. Personally I would go for it. All it would take is one big failure to run up a bill of a few thousand. I bought the extended warranty when I bought my 09 MKX. So far I've used it twice and the total for replacing the brake booster and a failed vacuum line A (had to pull off all kinds of parts to reach it) would have cost a little over a grand. (Doesn't take much to run up a big bill on a modern SUV). As for the $75 for exterior and exterior lighting, HID problems will blow through the $75 fast. That's an hour's labor. I would say it's a no brainer.
  19. You can have your ford garage turn on your DRL's (through the headlights, not trim lights).
  20. Actually, they stated that any car that can connect to the Internet through the phone is vulnerable. Chrysler engineering worked with them and verified the concept. Hope some irresponsible idiot doesnt figure it out and make it public.
  21. Yes. Forget who but was a parts Mgr for a Ford dealership. Price wasn't really cheap, but much better than local.
  22. Mostly true, but there is one way. I bought OEM Lincoln fobs off Ebay, still sealed in oem plastic. He asked who I bought them from & told him the name of the dealer (that was selling on ebay). Shrugged and told me the price to cut the keys.
  23. Just occurred to me that you are taking about a 15 MKS. I think what you are describing is the BLIS,or Blind Spot Information System. It detects cars, people, etc. on the side of the car in your blind spot.
  24. Oh great. Now we have to have a firewall for our car's head unit. Just seen on CNN, where a Jeep was hacked while driving on the freeway. Two guys spent three years expirmenting on connecting to a car through the Internet. Were able to turn on the radio and wipers and kill the ignition. Apparently Chrysler was in the loop and will develop a patch to the car's code to prevent others from using this method. Article in the 07/21/2015 Wired Magazine (Google "wired.com", lead story.) Can control brakes, transmission, radio, heater, a/c, steering, etc. Fun stuff.
