  1. After a year and a half of ownership I have been more than pleased with my Edge. Having said this, I must admit to been a little concerned and a bit puzzled by occasional error / fault messages displayed on my dash. The first occurred several months ago was a "Nav. system failure" I don't have GPS, so I don't know what it was telling me. After a re-start the warning went away. This week as I was backing out of my garage I got a "traction control" & "hill holder" failure and the FM radio station I was listening to was "not available". On re-start (re-boot?) all the fault warning went away and the radio station came in loud and clear. I feared that any vehicle that has as much "fluff" as my Edge does (most other up optioned vehicles as well) would be subject to this sort of issue, as these vehicles ECM, BCM, & ECU modules age and heat cycle through the heat of summer. Has anyone else experience these sort of non-repeated system failure warnings?
  2. Using one of these will do wonders in extending battery life. Just use the included quick connect / disconnect and you will extend the life of your battery if you use it regularly. https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Tender-021-0128-Maintain-Damaging/dp/B00068XCQU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1498682278&sr=8-1&keywords=deltran+battery+tenders
  3. The online prices were all over the place when I was looking. One site had it on sale for $13.00, I got mine on sale from a local O' Reilly's for $17.00. I think reg. retail price is +- $20. I bought my reg. Mothers clay set for +- $16.00 three years ago.
  4. As a follow up: I have now used the "speed clay" several times and it seems to be getting more clay like with each use. What I mean is that the surface is getting softer and stickier with each additional use. Who knows, maybe it will do a better, (more directly comparable to reg. clay products) job with additional use?
  5. You've gone and done it! Now I am confused.
  6. Speaking of paint... http://corporate.ppg.com/Color/Color-Trends/Automotive-Color-Trends.aspx
  7. I suspect some of you might well have owned a truck or SUV back in the day that had two tone paint as an option. I have spent some time thinking how Chip Foose might paint a second gen. Edge if he were so inclined. Would this possibility be of interest to you if Ford were to offer this option in the future? Which two colors would you put together. Here are a couple of two tone trucks I've owned over the years.
  8. Have you replaced any of your speakers? Keep us posted on your "fix"!
  9. I have used the baggie test for this comparison. I found a store that had the Mothers Speed Clay 2 on sale so I bought one. I used it with Mothers car soap and followed the directions found on the back of the Speed Clay package and found it to be really easy to use, but as my research indicated it is not as aggressive as their normal clay bar. After washing I did the trunk panel on my S2000 and did one half with the Speed Clay 2 and the other half with the reg. Mothers claybar. One pass with the normal clay product provided a clean, smooth, pass of a new baggie. After several passes of the Speed2 product the surface was very much improved, but when the "baggie test" was performed multiple defects could be felt. A follow up with the normal clay product removed these and the entire panel passed the baggie test. So I guess my call is that if you have some very light defects to correct the Speed Clay is a quick way to attack it. If on the other hand your problem is tree sap or other such defect you would be better served with a reg. clay bar product. Just in case you are not familiar with the baggie test here is what that is all about: Simply place a clean thinner sandwich over your hand and lightly rub a body panel. Its use reveals a super sensitive feel for surface defects on any given panel on your vehicle. If you have never used this test, try it you might be amazed.
  10. This thread is aimed at those folks that changed out some of their OEM speakers but not all. I've changed out the center dash speaker and am now considering changing out either the front doors speakers or the rear doors speakers, but not both. I've read here on other threads that the Focal Performance 165's make a big improvement in the overall sound quality. I am wondering; 1) If you replaced door speakers w/ tweeters, did you replace all 8 @ one time or just 4 @ a time? 2) If you did only replace 4 which speakers / doors did you work on first and how did that sound? 3)If you didn't use FOCAL's which speaker did you use? How about a review on the sound quality of your ride with the upgraded speakers?
  11. I've done a bit of research on this product and there seems to be a general consensus that there is a slight difference between the Mothers Clay and their Speed Clay product. It appears that the actual clay is better for surfaces with older / more severe defects. The Speed Clay seems to be aimed @ less severe / better maintained surfaces.
  12. No not with this product. It's not clay. Watch the video in the linked site. Per Mother's site: "Mothers® Speed™ Clay 2.0 is our fastest, most durable and versatile paint restoration and surface prep tool yet. This next generation contaminant removal process is so quick and easy, it’s as simple as washing or spray waxing your way to a perfectly clean, smooth and restored paint surface, ready for polishing and waxing. This patented, rubber polymer technology quickly shears off and removes both surface and embedded contaminants including paint overspray, water spots, fresh tree sap, rail dust, bird droppings, light oxidation and brake dust. Left alone, these particles can quickly cause molecular breakdown of your paint, leaving the finish dull and vulnerable to further deterioration. Speed Clay 2.0 will stop this damage and restore brilliance to your car’s paint, chrome, glass and smooth plastics."
  13. I just saw this (new?) product from Mother's. I have only used their standard clay bar, but it appears that this product is a lot easier & quicker to use. Having said that, I have my doubts about a "Speed Clay". Can anyone confirm or reject the efficacy of this product? http://www.mothers.com/02_products/17240.html?gclid=COf289Pei9QCFRGHswod7BQOhQ#qz7JlYovVovBlDfR.97
  14. IMO A fuel related problem would cause that symptom and oil being 1/2 qt low would not.
  15. As promised, installed 20529 AVS Carflector Pretty simple to install and only took about 15-20 min. to test fit, then install.
  16. I went ahead and took the chance that I'll like the way that AVS 20529 will look & perform and will post a picture when I've got it installed. https://www.amazon.com/AVS-20529-Carflector-Auto-Ventshade/dp/B01LREDIHE
  17. Thanks, I saw the discount, but the model that fits yours is not the same as the one that fits the gen. 2 vehicles. I can't find a picture of the second gen. Edge with an AVS deflector.
  18. Duane; Which one did you purchase? (Aeroskin 322115 or Car flector 20529) Can you take a "front on" picture?
  19. I hear more complaints about the system than anything else. I had it on the demo Edge I test drove and it really bugged me until the salesman told me how to shut it off.
  20. How do you folks that have the "Lane-Keeping" option like it? If you did want it to be included in your order (or purchase) is it alone worth the additional price of the 302A equipment group package or perhaps a better way of asking the question is; How much of the 302A equipment group option package do you use and how much is each item worth to you if you could select or delete each line item? 302A equipment group package: 301A + lane keeping system active parking assist front camera HID headlights rain sensing wipers 2nd row inflatable belts
