  1. Or on the street.... just pulled up the numbers using Vbox that was used on the street - Stock Edge 0-60 ~ 299 ft Stock X3 M40i 0-60 ~ 226 ft Edge car length ~ 16 feet 299-226 = 73 feet / 16 feet = 4.5 cars. That's almost bus length territory... just to 60... not negligible. I can send the vbox data to you if you want to check it out
  2. If you are comparing the current Edge Sport to the M40i and think the 0-60 is in the same range.. we differ on how "range" is defined... 1+ second is not in the same range. I'll have to check but I assume it's almost two car lengths.
  3. I have the M40i now (sold the Edge). Interior wise the cargo is smaller, yes. Everything else is pretty much negligible. It was $18k more then the Edge but comes with more features and safety.... along with a quick, quick 0-60 stock Yes that's 4.52 to 60 on a stock vehicle with 1775 miles... with +1.0% slope and 93 octane with a VBox Sport
  4. How about simple facts. Do you have the times for all the runs? Were all runs made on the same gas? Anything to at least show a definitive gain other then 13.2 or 3 runs and 13.32 for 3 runs... You can gain the same from 1-2 Gallons of E85 and max out your timing. That's $2.50 a gallon.
  5. Not sold on the results unfortunately. No slips or proof? What were the 60's on each of the times, that alone could have made the difference in times. What about mph? I would deem this still inconclusive. Thank you.
  6. I heard the one guy supposed to be in 12's was having VVT issues and lost 3-4 mph in the 1/4...
  7. Special K please provide your test data. I saw nothing in terms of benefits. Also I hope you did this same day testing
  8. Yes, worked well on reducing wheel hop, a lot better then the stock mount. Also helped with some of the slop on the shifting, cruising shifts and full throttle seem a bit more crisp now.
  9. Interested based on gains shown.
  10. So taking a page out of Xtra's book on this thread - http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/22798-g2-edge-sport-cold-air-intake-hack/?hl=snorkel I decided to check this out and see what the hype is all about. So I took a look at what the current view is for fresh air to go into the air box - So the first thing you notice is the hood latch mechanism in the way.... nice Ford. So I tried moving it completely out of the way but couldn't get a good spot, but low and behold there is a lip that sinks down between the inlet and the latch mechanism. So two holes later and it was moved out of the way - Now that it was out of the way lets see how it looks - MUCH better, now that the piece is out of the way, so is the cord (right hand side). But there still is an improvement for the one piece hanging down right in the middle. Take that out and PRESTO - Now air can get into the car with no obstacles. Now the real question... so what are the gains? Well, nothing great overall... nothing you will most likely notice seat of the pants, maybe a bit less laggy but I did notice a smidge more timing up top. I notice that the intake temp in the box was down 4* F overall based on 5 average runs previously and just one run with the improved flow. Is it worth it? Well it is a free mod and does remove anything in the way of the intake, so I say it is worth it.
  11. Just got the measurements on the core - Approx 25.75'' Long / 2.5'' Wide / 6'' High Comparing to the stock Edge - Approx 25.875'' Long / 2.5'' Wide / 6 1/8'' High I think it is most likely the same core.
  12. Whats the exact dimensions on the Fusion intercooler?
  13. Gains on the DP for this platform are BIG, but so is the fabrication work, so I expect that to be around $1k-$1.3k. You figure with E30, DP, Intercooler you are looking at a Mid 12 SUV. Pretty impressive.
  14. When are you guys going to run this intercooler on an Edge to see how bad the stock intercooler is vs. CPE?

    GFB DV+

It's diverting it just as the stock valve would - right back into the intake plumbing.

    GFB DV+

SpecialK - Mainly that is a BOV thread, this is a diverter valve thread and I didn't want it getting lost in the clutter of "what does this BOV reallyl help with or do" that was in that thread. This thread has more facts and information and will be easier for folks to see

    GFB DV+

So with all the talk of BOV's and the whole what does this really do thing, I decided to purchase an upgraded Diverter Valve and test to see if there are any benefits from it. I'll try to keep this as short as possible... Product - Go Fast Bits Diverter Valve + -> T9358 (http://www.gfb.com.au/products/blow-off-and-diverter-valves/dv-plus/dv-t9358-suits-mercedes-ford-and-volvo-detail) I have one of these on my GLi and it works flawlessly, holds boost well and prevents leaks due to the weak stock diverter valve. Benefits from the website - Sharper throttle response Faster boost recovery on gearshift Solves boost leaking issues Built to last Installation (see pics attached): Pretty simple and straight forward. I used this youtube video to perform it -> Took around 15 minutes overall, the screw closest to the firewall was the biggest PITA. Testing: I always try to make my tests as consistent as possible so the test conditions were 25* F on the same stretch of road with the same gas and the same test methodology - just off the gas and mash as fast as possible. I find brake boosting is a bit inconsistent to replicate 6 times over and I spin if I boost it too much off the line (AWD still spins...) 3 tests were done with stock DV, 0-80 twice and a 0-100 I was hoping to see quicker boost response or better boost hold at later rpms. Results: Mixed.... overall the acceleration was slightly, and I mean SLIGHTLY better with the GFB+ Left to right is the first run, second run, then third run. You can see, the DV+ does a slightly, ever so slight better job in holding boost. Acceleration was the best with DV+ at 4.97 vs. 5.05 with the stock valve. The build up from 0-20mph was better and more consistent with the DV+. After I hit 2nd gear with the DV+ it seems to accelerate a smidge better then stock. Is it work the $130ish or so? Well... If you want something that will prevent boost leaks and have some consistent boosting, yes. Will this give you tenths upon tenths in the 1/4 mile? No, but I think its worth it for peace of mind.
  18. Show me the logs that prove the one you guys installed... Improves throttle response? Better boost control after a gearshift, etc.? Or just makes a difference in how the car performs in general? I am all for modifications, but I like to see data before I make my mind up.
  19. Depends on your tune, some taper to 14 psi in 3rd and some tunes are able to hit 19 psi @ 6200 rpm, again depends on the tuner.... which I agree is hot air at that point, but 14 psi is more in the efficiency rang.
  20. Correct, I explained numbers in the previous posts, but no % efficiency gained. Not trying to argue either, just making sure everyone has the facts!!!
  21. Tell Torrie to have the shutters be open 100% of the time through the tune. Makes a big difference with acceleration having the stock intercooler less heat soaked.
  22. You guys all need to get the numbers straight. I'll help put it into perspective. 1. The CXRacing intercooler was <$550 shipped... contact the guy for a quote, you can also increase the size per request (height) for increased cooling. 2. The CORE was 5% bigger, what does this mean? Well the dimensions vs. stock were 5% larger but all aluminum and better designed. 3. Wait so you only get 5% better cooling? NO, dear god I would not even tell anyone about this if I got 5% better cooling... Tests pre and post intercooler show an average of 10*C in temps from 0-90. So take your original temp increase on stock intercooler, your increase on modified intercooler, difference, division and you get % gains. Which was 23%... logs show a decrease in KR at higher RPM, which means more timing which means more power back. 4. Intercoolers like the one I run or the others out there will gain the most from higher boost tunes, which as the moment I don't run a crazy high boost at high rpm tune (like LMS). Also take off .4 - .7 seconds sounds awesome, that would take your SUV from 12.9 to a 12.2 to 12.5 SUV at least right?
  23. Thanks for the pics, that helps. Turbosmart is a spring device and not a push pull system right? I personally would go with a GFB Diverter valve + to control the stock diverter valve from leaking, etc. Works well on my VW and looking to get on the Edge.
