  1. 4 - how long for? Apart from the maintenance thing most of those arent hard to haggle for and often you can get them - however to get all of them is an achievement. Personally i dislike spending too long in the dealership. We got all we had within two hours of arriving, right through to signing the paperwork. Well i will say it was two hours, although those were one hour a piece on two seperate days - one to discuss, talk cash, get the trade in price and such. The second day/hour was to pick up and the car and sign the rest of the paperwork.
  2. Just check to see what the quoted invoice price is. If you are somewhat concerned about how much the dealer is likely making order a Consumer Reports dealer pricing quote for $14 or so which lists the holdback fees. We were initially offered a good deal of $32.2k for a vehicle that was MSRP about $33.5k, plus we got it shipped in from another dealer from Atlanta, on top of this a $500 rebate for my wife being a recent graduate and the 1.9% 48 month financing. They also offered $500 over the appraised value of my trade compared to other offers i had received. Overall we made out like bandits on this deal. While we didnt pay under invoice, with all this other stuff we were doing very well. You can also check out getting the X-plan via an employee friends and family PIN which you can obtain from blueovalforums.com which is a no-haggle lowest price for this vehicle, going it alone you will have to haggle some. Whilst sales figures are improving, there is still plenty of incentive to get these vehicles moving and now there is a little more supply out there it should be possible to haggle some.

    MPG??????

Another fill up, some more numbers to add to the pot. I drove 329 miles on 17.89 gal (although that was topped up about 1/3gal from the time the pump shut off) which gives 18.4MPG. Overall on the 1844 miles i have averaged 19.2MPG with a mix somewhere around 70/30 city/hwy. Still getting better for the same old commute, over the past 2000 miles it has increased steadily from 17.0-18.4 (17.7 and 18.1 were the intermediate figures) MPG. This has been over the last 6 weeks or so.
  4. We have the SEL+, it only has a cubby hole in the driver side. The passenger side is where the sub for the audiophile stereo is under the panel. I would imagine if the sub wasnt there it might leave space for a second cubby hole. Ours is also a charcoal interior, although i cant think that the colour of the interior would affect the cubby hole locations.
  5. I follow your math, but its not 100% clear. I know i am saying the same thing as you are, but i wanted to present it another way - as well as presenting the US Gal numbers as most folks on here use that or L/100km anyway (not many Brits around - at least not measuring in Imp Gal. The two forms of measurement are inverse one is distance over fuel, the other is fuel over distance. That is 10L/100km=23.52MP(US)G/28.25MP(Imp.)G and 15L/100km=15.68MP(US)G/18.83MP(Imp.)G - ie as one goes up the other side goes down and vice versa. Personally i would work it out as: MP(US)G=235.2/(xL/100km) and conversely L/100km=235.2/(xMP(US)G) MP(Imp.)G=282.5/(xL/100km) and L/100km=282.5/(xMP(Imp.)G) Maybe what the original needed was some underlining to show what you meant? I couldnt quite get the tabular look until just now. Such as: MP(US)G= 235.2 L/100km and vice versa - although it still doesnt look clear in that way. That is divide the numerator (235.2 or 282.5) by your mileage reading/calculation denominator (in MPG or L/100km) to find the mileage in the other currency. Check it out with the above examples of 10 and 15 L/100km. Conversely 15MP(US)G would calculate to 15.68L/100km and 20MP(US)G would be 11.76L/100km.
  6. Have done a few of those trips so far in my Edge too - not all in a round trip and not every one of those destinations. I also found the Edge was great in sand - at least at the primitive campgrounds we stayed at. We got about 24mpg on the TP from Orlando to Delray and back, with a little city driving down in Delray pulled that back to 22mpg - so not bad overall. How many times did you fill up on that trip and roughly how many gallons for the total trip?
  7. I havent filled up since the last time i reported, 3/29, however the gas gauge is just a touch under 1/4, probably another 80+/- miles left on it, which would make 360 miles overall for this tank (probably reach that by about Wednesday i reckon given my general commute). The general fill up to the pump clicking off from <5 miles remaining on the computer is around mid-18gal which would again make the mileage for the last two weeks around 19.4mpg. Its still a mix of 80% commuting (local roads plenty of lights, neighbourhoods and literally two miles on the interstate one way - i dont take it home as its a parking lot at that time) the rest being off-peak driving - about 50/50 interstate and city driving without much traffic. My overall average to the last tankful is 19.3mpg (1515 miles with 78.27 gals) for a split of 38/62 city/hwy - basically my 80/20 regular weekly with a couple of modest trips (again a bit of highway, some country roads, some backroads, some city) in there on weekends during March. My regular weekly increased from 17.0 to 18.1 early to mid March with better mileage on the trips and now whatever this week is going to be. I will concur the computer is a little optimistic, but its still in the ballpark and can certainly give you an idea of whether you are driving conservatively or aggressively. Florida hasnt changed much, its still flat and warmish (been 70-85 the past month). Sorry again if you dont believe me or arent able to get the stated mileage from your Edge's, but i am happy with my Edge's performance to date and it still seems to be improving as i close in on the 2000mile mark (BTW if you are checking my math, the first 176 miles on the car when i bought it arent counted in my mileage calcs - last fill up at 1691 miles, only 1515 of them were mine) as i am right around 1970 right now. I hope it will continue to improve as it breaks in the last 1000 miles of the 3000 someone had suggested earlier. It definitely seems like i might be in the minority when it comes to better mileage - but that has always been the case even amongst people who drive the same car in the same area doing the same trips on all the cars i have used (i worked out the other day that its around 60 cars used to date).
  8. If you dont mind the question. Why are you selling? As for people buying and selling quite quickly afterwards. When we were getting a trade-in value for the Nissan Sentra we wanted to trade in for the Edge, we were at Carmax and talking with the guy babysitting us while the techs went to work. He mentioned that the same evening, some guy had brought in a brand new (couple hundred miles on the clock) FJ Cruiser to trade. The guy had rolled his previous negative equity into this SUV and now owed something like $45k on the loan. The trade value was going to be somewhere around $25-28k, barely half what he owed and nowhere near the original value off the lot. He also told us a few other stories, but this was the standout one. We were just glad to be leaving Nissan behind!
  9. Dont know the numbers of any other models, but the Edge is starting to pick up sales, first month 3k, second month 7k, third month 10k - still moving in the right direction. Of course the Murano has been going for a little while, but the Edge is just starting to get rolling - really i am still not seeing many ads or other methods of getting the name out there. As for where the buyers are coming from, i moved over from Nissan as the Sentra i had was a pile of crap and i didnt want to waste any more money on that brand. I havent owned a Ford since an Escort in 2000.
  10. Diesels over there start at about 2L and grow from there, at least the last time i looked it was hard to find anything smaller.
  11. But probably not worth $300 after factory installation! That also is quite an expensive after market option. From what i recall it was near the $2k mark. Of course bulk buying and such might bring that down as you suggest.
  12. Having just been prescribed glasses again i got some polarized clip-on sunglasses to go with them. There was the most minute reflection before off the chrome/silver/alu trimming that i could just about see under and next to my rear view mirror - no that has gone with these new sunglasses. As for fixing it, aside from taking out the little chrome/silver/alu trim around the little hole in the center of the dash and covering the dash itself in a little less reflective paint/pattern - there is nothing that could be done about the angle of the window, which is the main reason why when it reflects off the camel interior that the reflection is so bad - it shines right in your eyes due to the angle. They would have to change the angle or put some kind of anti-reflective coating on the glass. Who knows, i am sure Ford knows about it. As for the charcoal interior, its not got above mid-80's here yet and still sunny everyday. Its not hot so far compared to my old gray cloth interior or my wife's gray cloth. I dont know what will happen when the summer comes and it reaches the mid-90's, but i use a windshield cover as well in all my cars to prevent the heat building up too much.
  13. We got 1.9% for 48 months, which i consider practically the cash price. 0% would of course be nicer, however the cost per month would be quite a bit higher for 24-36 months. Payments right now are about $677 a month for about 31.25k - for the same total loan price at 0% the 24 and 36 month alternatives would have been 1302 and 868, those are pushing on some high prices (although the 36 is ok) given other costs per month! If you have a good downpayment who knows. I personally am fairly happy, to start with i pay on $50 a month in interest, and average $25 per month, $1200 total interest if i only pay the minimum, which wont happen - these are numbers i am more comfortable with i guess.
  14. From what i have seen in the photos of the Flex, it looks like a cross between an Element/xB and the older windstar van. Its not really got a stylish flair like the Edge. However it has the 3 rows of seats which some people want.
  15. Good news that such a good car is being bought up by more and more people. Not that i want 100,000's of them sold - resale value and all that!! However i reckon that the sales figures would be higher if there were more rolling off the line and the dealers had optioned the ones on a lots more in line with what customers want - hindsight is 20/20 after all.
  16. If you decide later on that you would like either of those things, you cant add the BAMR as its structural, however you can add the roof rack later on. The cost from the factory is $100+/- and after market is nearer $300 - so it costs to add on later.

    "Whine"

For some reason, my high pitched noise only seems to come on in the morning - or at least turning off/down the stereo and fan i cant hear the noise later in the day.

    "Whine"

When i turn my radio off, or down a bit, i can hear a very faint high pitched noise - it usually drowned out when driving, but on idle you can just about make it out. It sounds a bit like an electrical static kind of noise you get from the radio - however turning the radio off doesnt stop it - no idea what it is, i will make the dealer aware when i take it in for the oil change in a couple of months unless i hear something else.
  19. Just another thought, isnt this also what the 5 year, unlimited mileage rust protection is for???? Again back to the source of the info, there are a few posts on a few boards which state things like doors fell off, engine dropped out/blew up and so on, which were posted a couple of months before the cars went on sale - funny that, makes you wonder if it really happened or is just a scare story. I can tell you that my Nissan Sentra had all kinds of problems when i traded it in for the Edge, so much i wouldnt have slept at night knowing a private party had bought it as i would have felt bad for them having that pile of junk. When i list all the issues that were up, it almost sounds like it is made up as some were obscure and having so many of them really sounds fishy, but it is the God's honest truth and i still have the records of all the work done on it filed - although i am meaning to get around to shredding that stuff as i dont need it anymore. I noticed when i was putting my mudguards and edge protection (pun intended) on that there were a few drips that had solidified under the wheel arches and small dimples in the paint around the corners of the trunk and other doors, so i feel that plenty of paint was put on the car and you can only assume that clearcoat also went on too. We shall see in time though.

    MPG??????

Didnt follow what you were trying to say. My calculation is based on miles and gallons - check the numbers yourself if you like. My computer said i was getting a touch better mileage than that, but it was still pretty close to 18.1 mpg, like 18.5 or so IIRC. If your statement was based on my statement about the mileage remaining the tank, its not right to the exact mile, but its within 10 over the course of the tank. If i had run through the additional 5 gallons in the tank (20.8 vs 15.75) i would have been pretty close to 380 miles (285+5*18.1=375). The estimate is based on the mileage over the last 500 miles of driving, so if you have been driving in the city all the time its not going to be as accurate when you take a road trip - at least for the first 3-400 miles (most of a tank), and vice-versa. However given that my driving is practically the same week in/week out most of the time, i feel it has the right numbers given how far i end up driving during the course of a tank around the city. Its a tool you use to estimate, same with the mpg, its going to be somewhere close, but not 100% as the tool cant predict if your pattern alters from the past performance - again literally YMMV.
  21. Scroll through on the computer to the display with only mileage and compass - no other features. Press the setup button, keep pressing it as needed to scroll through the options to easy entry, press reset to toggle between on and off. Can do the same with the autolock/unlock, lights on timing when you unlock or lock the car. I do recall i was trying to use the keypad entry to open the rest of the doors and after i typed in the code i hit 3/4 and 5/6 together and that seemed to turn off the autolock feature which i then had to go back into the computer to reset - dont know if there are any other combinations that might turn off that feature or others. Mine is still working at the moment.

    MPG??????

Today's fill up, about 285 miles 15.75 gal = 18.1mpg 80% city, 20% highway over the past two weeks. I saw some cheap gas at a Shell station otherwise i would have driven it a bit further on that tank. The computer suggests i will get about 380 per tank - generally i get pretty close to the tank estimate.
  23. Well i turned the stereo off today (only listen at a reasonable, not earbleed volume - about 2-3 bars on the stereo with a speed setting of 3) and could hear the bars start to whistle when i was doing near 50mph and above, nothing lower than 40mph. However with the stereo on at a volume you could easily talk alongside i couldnt hear the whistle at all. The issue with the crossbars, is that they are somewhat annoying to take on/off as the space from the roofrails to the roof along with the angle made by the screws and the rood mean you cant just put a wrench/driver in there and go at it, you have to use an offset or go at it from an angle. I wouldnt want to do that all the time. Other systems might be easier and quicker to take on/off, however i always found i scratched the car roof up doing that over time - however carefully i may have tried to do it.
  24. The crossbars are at fixed locations, you cant move them either direction. The elliptical bars are quite a bit more aerodynamic than round or flat bars such as you get on aftermarket systems (Thule/Yakima etc) or older systems.
