  1. What you experienced is why it is always great to build a relationship with a dealer instead of trying to start a bidding war with every dealer within a 50 mile radius just to save an extra $300-500 each time you buy a car. I also exclusively utilize a single dealership that I have built a relationship with over the years. They are straight forward, no hassle, and don't force me to haggle as they make an initial offer that is very reasonable. A dealer you have a relationship with will also be more likely to do everything they can to assist you should you have a problem.
  2. It couldn't hurt. Besides, it would be nice to have a record of especially the Edge Sports out there.
  3. What you are experiencing would be considered to be normal behavior in most adaptive transmissions. It is sensing that you are on a hilly road and is keeping the transmission from upshifting to make sure that you have enough power to tackle any uphill grades and enough engine braking for the downhill sections. My case is that there are very small fluctuations in rpms of about 100-200rpms when driving along a slight uphill grade while the transmission is in a tall gear and hovering around the 1500rpm range. Each upward rpm fluctuation is like a very short blip. I had a chance to do a bit more driving to hone things in, and I wonder if it is the engine trying to adapt to the high load low rpm conditions that it would be experiencing at such engine speeds. Increasing the load by giving it more gas while in that range does not make the fluctuations any worse. If it was a transmission or torque converter based issue, increasing load at such low rpms would make the issue worse in the form of slippage.
  4. Correct, if the transmission was downshifting there would be a much larger jump in rpms. Even a torque converter unlocking would result in at least a 500 rpm jump under those rpm and load conditions. It almost seems seems like something is struggling to stay locked or the engine is boncing around trying to adapt. I cannot verify anything by ear because the engine is so quiet that I cannot hear it unless it is at higher than 2100 or so rpms.
  5. The most important thing is that you stick with a top tier fuel. However premium is required to get the advertised level of performance. Motortrend tested a second Edge Sport which they ran on only 87 octane and found it to be half a second slower to both 60 mph and the 1/4 mile. I bought a performance car and have no plans to get cheap on the gas. Never know when you might run into a kid driving a Civic with a fart can that needs to be humbled.
  6. I have 900 miles on the dash and am averaging 24 mpg right now. I thought fuel economy was terrible until I realized that the fuel tank was on the small side. This is my 3rd Ecoboost and have always exceeded EPA ratings. Sounds like you have mastered the art of getting good fuel economy which is almost as simple as resisting the urge to dip into the boost all the time.
  7. I was curious what scantool some of you guys might be using that you might recommend that has the ability to do data logging of all variables simultaneously. The last I used was the MSD DashHawk, but it is not compatible with newer Fords. Thanks!
  8. The transmission is actually staying in 6th gear. If I force a downshift with the paddleshfiters and get the engine running at higher rpms, it stops doing this. It is only doing it in an upward incline when running in that rpm range. Once I am driving over 60mph, it is at a high enough rpm in 6th gear that it does not do this. I am not sure what this transmission is called(6F55 maybe?), but the Powershift is that dry clutch based dual clutch transmission exclusively in the Focus here in America.
  9. That was my thought, but it would not be normal for the torque converter to be locking and unlocking like that. No vehicle I have ever owned does that. It almost felt like the torque converter was unable to handle the load or the engine was surging in that rpm range. When I am putzing around town, the car spends quite a bit of time on the highway with cruise control on in that rpm and speed range. I am a little bit disturbed but the engine is so darn quiet that I cannot make any exact determination. Even when I turned my climate control off, I still could not hear the engine sounds which might give me a clue. I am mostly curious before I have someone look at it if they have noticed anything like this before.
  10. Update, the actual rpm fluctuations appear to be closer to 100-200 rpms and seems to occur around 1400-1600 rpms in a tall gear. The sensation I feel is a light surging feel. It occurs on the highway only when going up a light incline in 6th gear at between 54-59 mph. It does not appear to be fuel related as I have gone through several tanks now. I also got it to do it around the same rpms up a hill by my house using manual mode to keep it locked in 4th and 5th gear.
  11. Hey guys, have any of you guys ever experienced this while stock? I have 900 miles on my 2016 Sport and have noticed that my rpms fluctuate by about 300 rpms when the engine is lugging in overdrive on the highway at 55-60 mph with the cruise control on. You can feel this slight fluctuation and I cannot tell whether it is the engine, torque converter, or tranny.
  12. Welcome! I am in Cincinnati as well. If you see a Shadow Black Edge Sport running up I71 exactly at 59mph, that is me as that stretch of highway terrifies me. This must be a small world as I too have owned 2 Taurus SHO's. I have owned both a 95 MTX and a 99 V8SHO. I totaled the v8sho when I was going around a corner and the rear sway bar link snapped. There were pictures of it everywhere on the internet back then. I absolutely loved the v8sho as that little v8 was easily one of the best sounding v8's on the market with a Borla exhaust.
  13. luxpow, this would be my 4th Ford I have owned with park assist and I have never had any problems with it. I like how it works and thus will say that I prefer it the way it is. I have had it on a Fusion Hybrid, Escape V6 AWD, Lincoln MKT, and currently my Edge Sport. I use it more to show it off to passengers if anything as I come from a generation that actually knows how to park a car.
  14. You just got a new 2015? I am surprised a brand new 2015 would still be on a dealer lot. It also worries me as a car sitting around on a lot is not good for it.
  15. The cost of the Borla systems reflect the quality you get. They are likely the most well made exhaust systems on the market and it will outlast your car. They are made using only T304 stainless. You would be doing it mostly for the sound as the factory exhaust is actually pretty efficient. Borla has also figured out how to make a system that does not drone, and their sound is very unique. I will recommend against running a K&N as they are not what they seem. Those oiled filters can not only destroy your MAFS, but they have significantly lower filtering efficiency which means that more particles and bigger particles are able to get through into the engine. They also can become restrictive fast as they clog up.
  16. You know what that truck calls for? A Borla ATAK cat back system!
  17. I just paid $2330 for an 8 year 125k mile Premiumcare plan with the $100 deductible from the dealer. I have never really used any of the ESP's in the past, but I see it as an insurance plan if anything. In the event of any AWD or Powertrain failure, those can get very expensive very quickly.
  18. Stock would be good. I cannot even imagine how easy 22's would be to damage as my stock 21's look like they are riding on a rubber band. I may get a set of 20's or maybe even 18's from Tirerack for winter use as our potholes become horrendous.
  19. Oh dear goodness, 22's? You must have roads that are much better than ours. These 21's already scare me. You sure you don't want to leave the Sport stock for a just a little bit? Either way congrats as I hope you enjoy it as much as I am enjoying mine.
  20. Congrats! I took delivery of mine yesterday and have put 307 miles on it already. This is an amazingly nice SUV that feels much more upscale than the price suggests. The 21's ride hard, but the suspension really makes it not as bad as you would think. I cannot wait to hit 1000 miles so that I can do some WOT runs up the highway on ramps.
  21. Something I do is ask the dealer if you can spend a night with a demonstrator. If they see you as serious, they may agree to it as it will really give you an idea of how well you can live with it. Your problems mirror the problems an acquaintance of mine is having with her Equinox.
  22. Going from a Sport to a Titanium? The problem during my search was that there were no Sports within 250 miles that did not have the giant moonroof and dub+1's. Dealers around here appear to not order them that way. We searched together on their computer and I just gave up and bought one of the few on their lot. What you went through is why I have always had the dealer call and verify mileage before agreeing. I suspect they may have been trying to pawn a demo onto you.
  23. I am probably going to stay stock as I want to see how well the drive trains are holding up in the modded Edges. If these are the 6F55's, I believe the Flex and Explorers are holding up well with the 3.5 turbos. With the Fusion Sports, hopefully there will be more options coming.
