  1. You would be surprised at how many people will hit up internet forums to complain about or find information about a problem. We will see as winter comes though as it seems like the majority of people having active steering issues are either in the northern states of in Canada. Personally, I do not like this variable ratio steering but had no choice.
  2. That or you guys might remember those curb feelers that cars used to have back in the 80's and earlier.
  3. $180 each? You havn't seen these beautiful 21's on the 2015/2016 Ecoboost Sports. The tires alone can run $300-400 each as only Pirelli makes all seasons in that size. Apparantly it is a rare tire size that is only shared with some Porsches and Bentleys.
  4. The Sport active steering setting actually just recalibrates the wheel to require more effort at low and highway speeds. I am not sure what it does to the adjustment of steering ratios as you drive, but I have never gone back to the normal mode since I switched it to be on the sport steering setting all the time. The normal setting feels too light and floaty for my taste. I am glad that Ford is making progress on this issue. That is the downfall of being volunteered to test cutting edge technology. I still believe this will be an isolated incident. Notice that since this thread started, we really havn't had a whole lot of people running here to report this problem. There are likely at least 10000 2016 Sports on the roads and a high failure rate would have caused a stampede to the internet forums. Since the 2016's have been out for over a year now, some have probably hit high miles.
  5. Insist that the tech rides with you while hooked into the computer. All sports actually do this and it is currecty considered normal. My dealer confirmed with the hotline that it was normal. It is believed to be small little variations in boost when the rpms are in that threshhold between positive and negative boost. As your car breaks in, it will mostly go away or be so minor you cannot tell. I barely see in on the tach and stopped being able to feel it 3000 miles ago. Just let the computer learn and give it time. Don't baby it or abuse it as you break it in.
  6. If you hate Sync 3, I don't even want to know how badly you will hate Toyota's Entune system. I have that in my Toyota and it is the worst infortainment interface I have ever seen in my life. I have owned the previous Sync system as well in numerous vehicles and really enjoyed it. However I see Sync 3 leaps and bounds better even though it does have a learning curve to it. It is probably the best infortainment interface I have ever experienced
  7. What you have noticed does not surprise me. I have used AFE filters before because they appear to be built very well appearing to maintain good filtering efficiency. I have mostly used their paper conical filters before to replace the K&N or S&B oiled filters that various CAI kits I have purchased in the past came with.
  8. Since the PTU itself has no actual clutches or friction couplings, I figure any good gear lube should be compatible. Redline just happens to be among the best of the best.
  9. I was curious if anyone here has tried switching their PTU gear lube to a very high performance gear lube like Redline? I have been debating on switching out the gear lube on my Sport at 5 or 10k miles and was curious if anyone else has tried this and whether there were any issues or not. Redline is the only company left that I believe still uses a fully di-ester base stock as everyone else utilizes PAO's for full synthetics. The benefit is that it is more stable at high temperatures at the expense of being more hydroscopic.
  10. I saw that. It appears to be getting received well in Europe too. The driving dynamics of the new Edge feel Euro to me as well.
  11. The reality is that if you do not like restrictive A or B or C pillars, it is the fact of life for newer vehicles these days. The A pillar issue is just as big of a problem in my Corolla as well. These pillars keep getting bigger because of the newer safety regulations. It is mostly to assist with keeping the integrity of the roof in the event of a rollover.
  12. Interestingly, I did not know that the Oakville plant also made the Lincoln MKT and Ford Flex along with the MKX and Edge. The MKT and Flex are not even on the same platform as the Fusion based MKX and Edge. I don't mind so much when it comes to who makes it so long as it is us, the Canadians, or Mexicans at the Hermosillo plant which has one of the best track records of any assembly plant in the world. I believe the workers at the Oakville plant are worried because the future of the MKT and Flex is very uncertain at this point. Both cars have little demand outside of livery service and it has been rumored for a very long time now that those models will probably get the axe.
  13. If they do not want the jobs they have, Mexico would be happy to have them. Something they are not seeing that Ford saw many months ago is that we will be entering a recession and that means the auto industry will get hit hard. How can they expect a manufacturer to increase production knowing that production will need to get cut hard. Union math can be very destructive when the realities of the real world hit. Maybe they should ask for more compensation, but increased production should be out of the question.
  14. Congrats! The 2.0 Ecoboost climbs hills better because Ford designs most of their Ecoboosts to be very strong low and mid range motors. This means that while the duratec might be faster on paper, the 2.0 will feel much stronger and will be much easier to drive. The Duratec 3.5 while a good motor, is a naturally aspirated motor which produces peak power higher in the rpms. The only disadvantage is that the ecoboosts are GTDI motors which means that carbon buildup may become an issue on the back side of the intake valves at higher mileage. However you can postpone that to some extent by doing things like doing oil changes with a premium full synthetic like Mobil 1 extended performance and driving like a granny.
  15. Now could be the time to get that regional customer rep involved. If your dealer has tried twice and failed, either they are not qualified to make these repairs(most likely) or they have recieved a string of bad parts(less likely). I have never had any issues with warranty work, but I have a great relationship with a single dealer who our family exclusively uses and they only use veteran techs.
  16. Are you fwd or awd and what did you notice most? LMS has always had a good reputation for drivability, but I have used custom dyno tunes most of my life after 2 bad experiences with canned tunes from different tuners.

What about just springing for the MRT rear section exhaust or are you looking for a tone change without a volume change.

Come to think of it, I cannot really hear the exhaust as it is so quiet. I mostly hear induction noise combined with a little valvetrain noise. How will hou navigate those exhaust outlets integrated into the bumper?

If you are looking for a 1/4 mile mod, have you tried sizing some super sticky R compound tires or maybe street legal drag radials. Sizing will probably be a huge challenge to find and those tires could very well break driveline components and even void the warranty. Back in my SHO days, it took a stock v8 sho running nitrous from the 14's into the 13's. I got to drive it once during a meet and it was insane how it just hooked up.

I thought it was more of a style thing as some diesels like the Colorado with the baby Duramax even come with bazooka sized tips. From a stock perspective, newer diesels may have a special shield around the tip to protect the body from the heat that can be produced when it goes into regen mode. It used to be the ricers in the 90's that put these size tips on.
  21. Yes, they shrunk several years ago. Previously, they used to be pretty big back in the older days.
  22. Actually, that invoice and MSRP price differential is around $1200-2000 depending on which Edge you buy. Of course that is not factoring in the holdback as well as dealer cash that is not available to the public unless the dealer wants to share it with you. The invoice on my fully loaded 2016 Sport was around $2055 or so less than MSRP which was somewhere in the $47's. Even when I ordered a 2012 Lincoln MKT for fleet use a while back, the invoice was still less than $3k under MSRP.

Even turbos need some backpressure. While simple cutouts will not make as big of a difference, some of the 2.3 guys in particular are burning up their turbos after modifying the turbo downpipes. I have been around the block, tested lots of mods, and have seen lots of people do mods. Doing simple cutouts will not make much of a difference until you start doing some serious power adders. Ford factory exhaust systems have been well optimized and I have seen dynos of people who actually lost power when they went too far with their exhaust systems. Based on the pictures I have seen of our true dual systems, I think it has been very well done as I see no major sources of restrictions like you used to see in factory exhausts from the pre mid 90's era. At this stage, you are not going to gain anything noticeable while you will make your car much more obnoxious both to yourself and others. If you are happy with that, then go ahead. You do not need to please me, and I only seek to inform potential readers to some of the pitfalls. Maybe I sound negative because there really is not a whole lot that we can do to our vehicles right now without having a speed shop do custom work. I am hoping the Fusion Sport will change that for us. I watched a few of your videos and traction seems to be a real limitation to more power.

On dear goodness, don't do cutouts. It will not sound very good and in fact only v8's usually can get away with it. While twin turbos tend to not get as obnoxiously loud, it can become very obnoxious in SUV's from the droning.
