I would because I am risk adverse, but remember that those extended warranties are profit makers that would not be offered if they lost money on it. Search online by typing Ford Esp into Bing or Google to comparison shop before making your dealer an offer.
  2. I Would take it to the dealer. When my low fuel light came on, I was barely able to cram 15 gallons so that does not sound right,
  3. Sounds like she is in panic mode. I know that feeling as I have been there before. My Land Rover actually broke down the same day I bought it. Something else to keep in mind based on her location in SoCal is that there are likely many other dealers that she can try if this dealer ends up being a dud.
  4. Go test drive another one on the lot and feel for any differences. Stuff like this is hard to diagnose over the internet because straight 4 engines will have some vibrations if you have traditionally come from other engine configurations such as straight 6, v6, or v8's. Check local state laws. Some states allow consumers up to 3 days to change their mind. Ford u fortunately is correct as the contract is between you and the dealer. And yes tell us more about the civration issues. Do you have auto start/stop?
  5. Yes but it was extremely close. They got 5 Fusion Sports in and they sold instantly except for one which I was looking at. My dealer let me take the Edge for an extended test drive and that ultimately sealed the deal. The Edge got dinged because this active steering system is unholy and unnatural, but got a huge plus because it honestly felt just as fast and torquey as the Fusion Sport while maintaining a huge increase in utility. Granted I never went above half throttle, but they felt very similar in how they drive as you could tell that they shared the same CD4 platform.
  6. Actually premium can make a huge difference on the street. There may not be as big of a change in peak power, but it is how the power is delivered that makes the difference. One thing you notice on GTDI engines is how the torque curve flattens with bigger low and midrange gains. You cannot compare a n/a engine to a forced induction engine either. Considering the Sport hits 0-60 in 5.6 seconds with the 1/4 mile in 14.2, I say that qualifies as a performance vehicle. This is also by far the best handling SUV I have ever seen. The Sport was so impressive that I passed on the WRX STI(too punishing) and the Fusion Sport.
  7. Those are the dealers you stay away. Those are the dealers that make all the good Ford dealers like the one I buy all my cars from unfairly look bad. It must be a New York thing because I was on a Subaru forum where a lot of them played that same game. When custom ordering a non limited production car, you should never pay more than invoice at most. I am sad, but glad that you at least rewarded a dealer that appreciates the privilidge of having customers interested in their product. If you would not have minded flying in and driving 9 hours back home, the dealer I exclusively buy from would have made it worth your while if you tell them I sent you.
  8. AZ is far to go for a dealer trade. The Edge is made very close to you in Canada. You could do a custom order from the factory if you can wait 6 or so weeks. The financing offer may or may not still be there although the auto industry is appearing to head into a recession.
  9. Keep in mind that the $1000 rebate is harder to get than you might realize because it is only Edges that have aged out on the dealer lots. It is essentially ones that have remained in dealer inventory for 120+ days if I am correct. The Edge is hot selling in my region and my dealer even told me that they have nothing that has sat on the lot that long. I am rooting for the Ford because I am biased and would hate to see you drive something less.
  10. Luxury cars in general tend to depreciate quickly. The 2 brands that are consistently immune to this phenomena is Lexus and Porsche. I know quite a few people who as a result wait for 18-24 month luxury cars to hit the market which are usually still under warranty.
  11. What are people running stock? I am in my busy season but will try to hit up the drag strip before they close for the season early November. Hopefully we will have some cooler weather by then.
  12. I was curious what you guys may have noticed about your Sport that you thought was interesting or something cool that you did not realize until you discovered it? Right now, I am impressed with how the engine is starting to sound as the exhaust system is breaking in. It is starting to have a nice deep rumble and almost a deep burble that was not there until I hit 1000 miles. I am currently at 1700 miles. I was concerned that I might need an aftermarket exhaust but this is becoming perfect. The sound almost seems to mimic the Mercedez V6's.
  13. Do you guys really want your phone to have so much control over your car over a wireless network? That alone would make me very nervous.
  14. Not just that, but those surveys do not reflect reality. They penalize things such as infotainment software quirks almost as severely as major mechanical problems. Those surveys also have to be taken as a grain of salt because they are short term. Unless you are me, most people tend to hold their cars more than 2 or 3 years.
  15. Go up the chain of command. Go public if you need. There would be no excuse because the car is not stolen and is registered to someone.
  16. Back when premium was only 20-30 cents higher than regular, I would have entered this thread telling everyone to suck it up and quit being cheap. If you own a Sport, I still may do that as it is a performance vehicle. The cost of premium these days is unreal. Around town, I see premium between 60 to 100 cents higher with the average premium being about 80 cents. I am heading to Costco now because premium there is only 10 cents higher than what regular is selling for at the Shell or BP next to me.
  17. You guys are younger than me and what you have noticed in the last 10 years is spot on. Our society is changing and it is manifesting itself in the caliber of the drivers out there. The change in the last 5-10'years has especially been drastic. Even worse, driving is a twisted beaurocratic social justice experiment now. Instead of forcing people to be at high standards, they dumb the hell out for the lowest common denominator. They force additional technology to dumb down things for these people instead of forcing them to maintain high standards like Japan or Germany requires of their drivers.
  18. Remember that there is a reason why the Korean cars need to be so heavily discounted. The market has judged that the Edge is better and thus supply meets demand at a higher price point.
  19. Sorry to hear about it. As car people, it especially hits us hard. I hope they catch the asshole that did this. Too much in our society are people no longer willing to be held accountable for their actions. That mentality needs to stop.
  20. You can get a heated steering wheel on the Subaru Outback 3.6r Touring. That and the STI was what I was considering before deciding on the Edge Sport. If you want a big grin on your face each time you blow away a ricer kid with a fart can exhaust, the Sport has V6 power in a big way.
  21. I was talking with my a tech today and this topic ironically came up. He said that they will not flush certain vehicles anymore after they noticed a higher failure rate after the flush and will only do a fluid change on them.
  22. Yeah. I am starting to see why Ford does not offer the trailer tow package for our Sports. I went along with the service manager and saw the tachometers dancing under the same highway and driving speeds. Only difference was that they had 87 octane in them while I run premium. The service manager was very impressed as this was the first time he road and drove the new Edge. Once the hotline gets back to him, I will update this thread.
  23. If you are looking for as new as a 2015, have you considered buying a new 2016? There are really good deals along with 0% financing for up to 6 years. Not paying interest really raises your car buying ability for a budget. The new Edge is really refined and behaves more like an entry level luxury car.
  24. Yup. Some of this stuff can be very tricky. I do not see any evidence that they are not doing everything possible to make you happy. With the hotline now on it, they should be getting people on the team that have seen stuff like this repeatedly.
  25. Well I visited with the dealer twice and am shocked that more people are not noticing this. They are guessing it is something weird being caused by variations in boost pressure. 2 other Sports on the lot do exactly the same thing. They are now curious and shot a message to the hotline. It may be something that is not normal that is normal for the Sports. I am probably going to have the transmission reprogrammed by Livernois at some point just so it never lugs itself around.
