  1. I will probably let my dealer figure it out, but that cable you are talking about caused more of a rattle than a squeak. I think I took care of that myself after I removed the seat. I think I fixed it accidently as a family member dropped something valuable which had me removing the back seat to find it. At this stage, this person has not come back to respond to their own post which leaves me to believe that they are yet another person going from forum to forum posting and leaving.
  2. The only issue my 2016 is suffering from that list is an insane amount of squeaking coming from somewhere in the back when driving along rough pavement(pretty much any road in the entire state). It only happens when the outdoor temperatures drop below 30 degrees which means it will be next winter before i'll try to have the dealer look at it.

I have run both the catback and axle back systems from Borla as available. The MRT I believe is a rear section or axle back system.
  4. Your experience is not representative of these new Edges. Sadly, it sounds like you got the bad one on the lot. Hold them to the fire and do not give up as this is really a good vehicle that drives much better than you would expect. Read up on GA lemon laws as well and keep everything documented. If your dealer is not addressing your concerns, get the regional representative involved. Don't be afraid to professionally utilize social media to get your concerns addressed as well if the other channels failed.

I have run Borla's on many of my previous vehicles and have never had any drone issues. Borla in their latest designs even acoustically tune their systems to avoid droning. Maybe we are talking about a different noise as I will admit that I have never run a Borla system on anything I owned that had less than 6 or 8 cylinders. If you have an Edge Sport AWD, yes the MRT appears to be the only option. It is a rear section exhaust so not a full length system. I am curious to see if anyone here is running it as their video makes me think that it is just barely louder than stock. The issue with exhausts and the 2.7 has been that it is not very easy to get this motor sounding very good. A lot of the F150's with the 2.7 running an aftermarket catback sound like ricers.
  6. We should allow for this thread to die. We are falling into exactly what the troll wants which is to exact a response. I am serious when I say that is how some of these people get their jollies. The more we continue this thread, the more we are aiding him in pleasuring himself.
  7. Some people get their jollies going around trolling. Notice that is his first post. I find it discouraging that people have absolutely nothing better to do than troll message boards and forums. Facebook is the perfect example of this type of behavior.

That Borla muffler in that Edge wouldn't help us at all as we have a true dual system. That is why replacing just the muffler gets tricky with the Sport as Ford got creative to maintain an equal length true dual setup. I have been a huge fan of Borla exhaust systems, but they do not have any catback or rear section systems for us. Borla exhaust systems have little to no drone and they are designed for each application. Most recently, I ran a Borla system towing a trailer through the mountains of Northern BC in Canada with absolutely no drone. I have run Borla systems on most vehicles I have owned and the sound they create is legendary. The quality of their systems is also second to none, but you pay a hefty price tag for it. If someone is just swapping out mufflers, then I have no experience with that and it is quite possible that there is drone when doing that.
  9. Wasn't BMW's system an actual 4 wheel steering system like on the Honda Preludes of yore along with some Acuras? Other luxury cars I know utilize some sort of drive by wire system. Ford innovated a variable ratio system by being the one to actually integrate all of the hardware into the steering wheel assembly itself thus providing a high end luxury car feature to people on a beer budget. It started with the Edge Sport and is now in the new SuperDuty. I expect it to eventually become part of the higher trim levels on nearly every vehicle in their lineup as that has been something Ford has been doing for the last decade. Take high end features and package them at a more affordable price point. Of course I also have no doubt that this strategy is also partially cannibalizing sales from their Lincoln brand.
  10. A really flat torque curve is what makes you feel that difference at lower rpms versus naturally aspirated engines which tend to have more of a peaky curve. This is why Ecoboosts are so good for daily driving as the strong low to mid range really makes driving a lot easier than a top end engine.
  11. I think Ford calls it active steering because it is literally changing the steering ratio on the fly depending on what is going on. Pretty neat how Ford accomplished this without resorting to some steer by wire type of setup.
  12. Topics will almost always go off-topic at some point. It is just the nature of internet forums. Sometimes they get back on topic and sometimes they never do. It is hard to talk about the same thing for 20 straight pages without needing a break from that topic.
  13. That is pretty good. The best time that any car magazine has gotten with our Sports was a 14.1 in the 1320. Those guys also beat the hell out of their press cars to get those numbers.

A good shop and a bad shop will still be utilizing a crush bender. There are probably less than 5 shops in the entire country that have the ability to mandrel bend custom pipes due to the insanely expensive nature along with the skill level required when operating one of those. Remember that maintaining the equal length nature of the factory true dual system means that the shop will have to get creative with the bends. Each crush bend adds a restriction point.
  15. Considering that the most powerful iteration of the 2.7 is on the Fusion Sport which shares lots of driveline parts with the Edge Sport which shares a lot of driveline parts with the Taurus SHO, I doubt that it was detuned due to driveline issues. Getting poor fuel economy is pretty typical on AWD Ecoboost vehicles. This is my 3rd Ecoboost vehicle and they tend to take time breaking in as I have noticed. Just give it time for all of the components to break in and loosen up. Doing a bunch of short trips will also eviscerate fuel economy. I did not notice significant increases in fuel economy in my Ecoboosts till after about 5k miles although the 2.0 Fusion obtained peak fuel efficiency much sooner. Besides my 2016 Sport, I have also owned the 3.5 Ecoboost in the Lincoln MKT.
  16. I would wager that a conventional gear lube certainly could not take the heat in the PTU and is thus why Ford requires it to be maintained with a full synthetic meeting certain specs in the instruction manual.
  17. 20k miles from now, I am curious what your intake ports will look like. We know that the 2.0 and 2.3 Ecoboosts can get significant buildup by then inside the intake ports for cylinders 2 and 3.

Just remember that if you need to bend pipes, very few exhaust shops have a mandrel bender as nearly all utilize a crush bender. Mandrel benders are insanely expensive. Crush benders add kinks at the bend along with ripples at times that can cause a bottleneck in the flow of exhaust. This could defeat any gain you may have been seeking to gain unless you were looking purely for a sound increase.
  19. That fill plug on the PTU is a blessing for those of us with 2015+ Sports. I had mine changed with Amsoil Severe Gear Oil at 5k miles as a precaution. The factory fill is a good full synthetic, but the ease of changing it thanks to the drain plug makes it as easy as doing an engine oil change. Now that I know that I have the best possible lube in there, I will probably change out the PTU fluid every 20-30k miles. As was being discussed on the previous page, these guys who work in automotive repair suffer from huge consequences due to their environmental exposure to carcinogenic toxins. I am now seeing research that is starting to indicate the increased risks for cancer as well as shorter life spans. As we continue to switch away from ICE's to fully electric vehicles, this should get better but I cringe at the thought of how many of them will be out of work as electric cars have very minimal maintenance other than changing out the battery and electric system cooling fluid.
  20. If you still want some of the convenience of trading in a car but want to get a little more money for your vehicle, most dealerships will allow you to do what is called a pass-thru sale. I have utilized this before with my dealer when I found a private buyer for my Chebby Trailblazer SS. They charged me a $300 fee plus I think $100 in doc fees to do it for me. I traded it in to them to get the sales tax benefit on the purchase of my new vehicle and they in turn immediately sell it to my buyer at the price they agreed to pay for it.
  21. Leo on our Edge Sport Facebook group has done something similar to what you are looking for. He has pictures of it up but it kinda looks like a double barrel shotgun poking out from his bumper.
  22. Are you talking about the active steering fault? There is a giant thread on this topic for those of us with 2016+ Sports over in another part of this forum. I think it is in the chassis or suspension section. What is the build date of your 2016? There are currently a total of 3 TSB's addressing an issue with the active steering system that we have in our 2016+'s. It appears to affect mostly earlier 2016's but a few later ones have been affected. Basically the active steering system's software needs new calibrations, the steering clock spring needs to be replaced and recalibrated, or the entire steering wheel and thus the active steering hardware needs to be replaced. Depending on the TSB, the latter is supposedly on backorder.
  23. I suppose that has changed or I have not paid attention to it in a while. I wouldn't be surprised considering how expensive di-ester base stocks are or the fact that they can be moisture seeking.
  24. Yes, but some companies have been very consistent on what base stock they utilize. Redline has always been a di-esther base stock which has always fit their image of high temperature stability. The downside is that esther base stocks can attract moisture which can be bad. Amsoil was once a di-esther base stock a long time ago but have been exclusively PAO's since the 90's. Royal Purple has been a synthetic blend since the late 90's. I think their success has been their marketing and fancy purple color. Mobil 1 has always dabbled between esters and PAO's but have always been a full synthetic by traditional definition. What I like about Mobil 1 is that it has been the factory fill for more performance cars than any other full synthetic on the market. It has been the other synthetics on the market that have constantly shifted around depending on what they preferred. Most of the mainstream full synthetics other than Mobil 1 utilize hydrocracked base stocks these days since the landmark Castrol Syntec vs. Mobil 1 case back in 98 which basically allowed for manufacturers to claim that their oil is fully synthetic even when it is utilizing hydrocracked base stocks.
  25. If you had an early fix for the adaptive steering issue or if they cannibalized an in-stock Sport to make the fix, I would not be surprised to see the issue pop up again. The issue is pretty much resolved as we now know what the issue is(one of 3 possible issues) and what the fix for each issue is. I have said it in the past, but I absolutely LOVE the adaptive steering the more I use it in tight downtown underground parking garages and navigating tight streets. I have gotten so used to it that I keep steering wide when I am in the Corolla.
