  2. LOL! Within the firts 20s of the video I confirmed exactly what I said when they announced an Edge ST, like all these supposed ST models, it is sprung so stiffly you cant even record a proper video in it.
  3. That is pretty darn fast for a 2.0 SUV!!!
  4. "It is a vehicle for somebody that doesnt want to compromise the excitement of driving..." And their answer to this is a nose heavy 2 ton SUV? How things have changed from the days where M3's were considered drivers cars...
  5. I am currently paying 1.47 per l for Husky 94... Should come down a bit now with winter around the corner. I am very impressed with the consumption on mine. I must admit, I only drive mine on weekends so it very rarely sees any kind of city traffic.
  6. My EB averages 9.9l/100km in the city... What does the V8 average, 14\15? That is rather significant if you ask me? Gas is rather expensive in Canada so maybe in the US 5l per 100 is not significant but this side it makes a big difference on the wallet.
  7. Interesting you should say that because I have an 18 EB Mustang and yes, it doesnt make a lot of power over 6k but with the 10 speed box you can keep the power in the sweet spot all the time. My car has only 1100km on the clock, my fastest 0-100kph is 5.7 (should be able to easily get it below 5.5 if I find a piece of road with a bit more traction) and if I put it on Cruise Control at 100kph I average below 8l/100km; sounds like a I am having my cake and eating it and all for under 30k Canadian! Our Edge Sport, V6 EB, averages 11l/100 in town and below 9l/100 on the open road even when fully loaded with the AC running. The old gal even managed below 10 during a roadtrip at -35 C !! And when the opportunity strikes, she doesnt mind hiking up her ol' skirt and showing some supposedly much faster cars a clean pair of heels. EB doesnt sound as bad as a lot of people make them out to be... Soon, all Fords will be turbocharged and then the hybrid era will set in before we go all electric. The nice thing about continuous progression, it gives old people something to complain about all the time
  8. Sorry, I have an unrelated but relevant question, tell me more about this "wife" that polishes your car.... How did you manage that?
  9. LOL! That sounds like a great night out!
  10. In Afrikaans, language that originated from German\Portuguese\Dutch languages, you would also call an American an Amerikaner.
  11. Out of interest, those numbers were taken from a Ford training brochure in 2015 if I remember the story correct. It wasn't publicized widely for obvious reasons.... As an owner of a 2018 EB Stang, I can tell you, the difference is big enough to justify the 25% The 2018s has the overboost feature to get to the new 350 ft lb and on 87 you never get that extra surge in power as the car pulls so much timing. But I agree with you, if you are happy to never go WOT (seeking power, not just going wot for wot's sake) and is not interested in 0-60s etc. you can use whatever you want in the car and it will run.
  12. On Ecoboost Mustang and Focus RS can gain as much as 30hp by switching from 87 to 93.
  13. BTW - i laughed so hard at their promo video of Ben Collins understeering the ST Edge all over some roof parkade. Looked like a fish out of water. You could see on his face he wasnt impressed with it.
  14. Exactly nailed it! The Edge sport is already too firm so what will ST do, lower it and firm it up. Because when its lower and firmer it must be faster according to Ford. They also add 10hp because now its an ST but essentially, it will still run out of steam at 5000rpm. This is exactly what they do with all their ST models and then everyone gets excited because its a Ford Performance product. What a joke. So what I am saying, leave the sport alone. Make it faster or warmer with more power and torque but make it more comfortable with adaptive dampers instead of ruin it with a wannabe stiffer design and stupid stickers. Sell it for what it is instead of what its pretending to be.
  15. I just bought a 2018 Perfromance Pack Ecoboost with the 10speed auto for a daily run around (average below 8l/100km when cruising - its fantastic lol). Car has 500km on the clock and I just ordered a Magnaflow competition cat back. Its not going to sound like a V8, because it isnt a V8, but it will sound closer to the Focus RS (with which you know it share a lot\not exact engine). I think the EB should have sounded like the focus RS direct from the factory. I am not saying 4 poppers should sound like V8's but there are great sounding 4 cylinders out there; all 45 series AMG merc's, Focus RS, 2018 S3 with the new exhaust, Clusport S GTI, Golf R with Akra pipes, Hyundai i30 N etc. There is no replacement for displacement but that is not an excuse to completely ignore what comes out the back of your 4 poppers...
  16. Because all of the reasons i mentioned are what I deem important for a Performance vehicle (again, my opinion - which Ford does not care about) - a sport badge says faster, not performance - the ST badge says performance and I am pretty sure it is not going to be a performance SUV.
  17. I believe this topic is discussing what our definitions of performance are and what we think it could\should be mmmkay I was pretty vague with my initial post, you then asked me for more detail, why get butt hurt when i give my opinion? Wow....
  18. Nothing, I dont think they should have created an Edge ST to start with.... Trust me, I understand Ford Performance, I drove ST Fords waayyyyy before they came to North America. I drove the very first Fiesta ST, the one with the high revving 2.0 aspirated 4 popper, the 2.5 5pot Focus ST (both models), previous Gen 1.6 ST and I even owned the outgoing face-lift Focus ST. So I am not sure how much more experience I need before I "understand" Ford performance. Heck, I even have experience with the Ford Mondeo ST 220 and Territory ST. If you want me to tell you what is wrong with ST in general I will gladly do so: 1. Under promise and overdeliver with power and performance figures - stop quoting cars to have 250hp and when you strap them to a dyno they put down only 200hp - look at what the germans are doing with their performance hatchbacks. This is the exact reason why on a dragstrip a Focus RS cant keep up with a faceift Golf R or why a 250hp Focus ST gets slapped around by a 220hp GTI. 2. Stop picking the smallest turbos you can find to make your "quoted" power, cars that stop making power when they reach 5000rpm is called turbo diesels.... Yes, it makes the car feel very fast with little turbo lag and then a big sudden woosh of torque but when you put that on the road against a properly tuned car, it will lose every time. 3. The focus ST and RS is renowned for pretty darn good handling but with uncompromising ride comfort. Tried and tested... The competition, including the new Civic Type R and A class AMG merc, figured out how to fix this. Ford Performance is literally the only company out there that think your car needs to be rock hard firm to be fast. 4. Give the cars some exhaust sound, ST badged cars sounds terrible. I know the new 3 pot Fiesta sounds pretty sweet but its not even coming to NA... You put a Focus RS engine in a Mustang and then slap a family sedan exhaust on it... (last one doesnt count, its just a good example) 5. Fit a proper interior with some nice performance gauges, the germans does it, heck even dodge does it, why is Ford not doing it? (i am not talking a boost guage stuck on the dash...) This is just my opinion.
  19. Exactly, so why give it a ST Badge with track tuned suspension? They should have given it adaptive dampers, the new gearbox more power (325hp is fine) and kept the name. What exactly did they achieve by slapping a ST badge on it? Trying to attract younger buyers I guess?
  20. The Edge ST will be the same as all the other ST's, a mildly warm version of a generally bland car. I still believe they should have kept the sport badge and not try to make this something that it is not.
  21. I am a massive Continental fan. I used to run Conti 5Ps on all my high performance cars and I currently have a set of 20inch Wintercontacts for my Edge.
  22. Its a disgrace to be honest... that is why Ford stocks are plummeting... Ford needs to up their game and slapping an ST badge on an Edge will not save them
