I have a question. I got the Gen 2 update and things seem OK, but I still have a concern because after I start my car, when I press the steering wheel sync button, the system does not respond unless the car has been running for at least about a minute. Had this same problem from before the update. Is this typical?

I've had this happen with an iPOD classic and touch, not connected to the Edge. When it went to play a purchased song, it would very briefly show the title and then go to the next song. If the next was purchased, same thing. It hasn't happened in a while and I can't remember what was causing it, although I do recall that there was a particular reason. I synced it to my iTunes library and all was well again.

I have the Gen 2 update. The colors are off and I get the Lincoln logo, too. I don't think the dealer will or can do anything. they can't change the display colors that software is determining, and as far as the logo, just load another image from a jump drive.

I have an 11 SEL. Use 87 octane, about 60% highway and I am getting about 24 mpg, my calculations

I have posted about this before and I know at least one other has had this problem, but I wanted to see if the big update fixed it. When I hit the steering wheel volume button once, the volume ramps up by itself. I have to turn it down with the big knob. It is very intermittent and I try to get it to happen and video record it, but no luck I had the big update two weeks ago and it just started happening again (2 x in two days) Before the update is was 4 or 5 times in 3 months. Is anybody else having this problem? Have you taken it in and what has been done to fix it? Has the fix worked?

The top choice of the three can show a picture you load into MFT. When I got the recent update, my available pics foe the home screen disappeared and I get the Lincoln logo, too, even though I have an Edge. I just need to reload my pics

My main concern is MFT and Sync, too. Following those it's the other big stuff like transmission, alternator, etc. I sold an 05 Escape for my Edge, didn't get the ESP on the Escape and had no problems at all in 119k miles. I shopped the ESP on the Edge and will get it for $970 with $200 deductible, as opposed to $1170 with $100 deductible. 970 is cheaper up to and including the 2nd claim including the 100/200.

If I recall, on the audio screen, go to the station you want, then on the right where it has the column of favorites, hold down on one of the positions for a couple of seconds. (let's just say the top position). Manually change to another station, hold down the second position and continue. To go to the next set, touch towards the lower left where it has the 1,2,3. It's the same for setting regular radio stations

My 11 SEL has that temp sensor and reading. I think I have the 202A package.

I've had mine for about 10 weeks and has started to do that. Or, the camera will come on, but when I go into Drive, the screen goes black for about 30 seconds. I have to take it to the dealer to get the update that is available to resolve these and other problems

I think it is called the ESP plan, i don't know if it is 6 or 7 years, but I priced from different dealers. I will probably get it for 970 with a 200 deductible from a different dealer than purchase

Brian/Tenstepn, This guy only handles problems for Cerame, so not sure about the travelling guy. They are installing the fix, but i told him I can wait since I want to make sure it doesn't make anything worse and since my problems are almost non-existent

tenstepn, I am in St. Louis, too. The guy I have neen communicating with in the service Dept at my dealer, Cerame, has the title "Ford registered Sync specialist" but I don't know if he goes dealer to dealer. He said Ford is aware and is working on problems, and to check back with him for updates. I have an SEL from the beginning of October. Problems are few and intermittent and just slightly annoying. Love the car otherwise.

I was wondring how big of a problem this could be as there are not major problems with all of the MFT out there ( I have an 11 Edge with very few problems and they are all just minor inconveniences) Also, how many people are getting MFT. From the November sales report, I think there were about 12,000 Edges sold. Assume same for October and assume all sold in Oct and Nov were 11's and not 10's. (this gives highest possible number) Article also stated that about 80% of buyers are getting MFT. So there are ABOUT 19,000-20,000 Edges out there with MFT.

My Ford touch is an 8 inch touchscreen for phone, navigation, radio and climate. So instead of buttons that you are used to pressing, you can control those 4 things through 1 touch screen. You can make the whole screen any one of those 4 to get detailed control, but access to the other three is easy because each one is shown in a different corner. The only way to get navigation on the Edge is if you have MFT. It is an option, and you can see pricing and a video on the fordvehicles.com website. It is different from Sync, which is voice control, where you just say "Call Mike" if you have BLuetooth enabled phone, or say "106.5" to change the radio station, or say the address of a destination for the navigation. Some people are having some problems with it, but it is a new product. I have had mine for 6 weeks with only a few minor, intermittent, annoying problems, nothing to make me dislike the car or MFT. A software update should be out soon, so I am not worried. I have never had to pull fuse 29 that a lot of people refer to, and mine has only had the "regular maintenance" screen show up twice, and it is only there for a minute. I was wondering if there are a lot of widespread problems with it, so I was looking on the web and the only place I am finding people reporting problems is this forum, several consumer and car sites show nothing. I don't know how many '11s with MFT have been sold, but if Ford is selling about 9-10,000 Edge's a month, and they have had two full months of selling the 11's, I am just guessing that at least 50% have MFT (? a guess), so there are roughly around 15-20,000 out there with it. (And the 50 people who have bought Lincoln MKX's!, Just a joke. I bought my Edge from a Ford/Lincoln dealership and my wife looked at the MKX. Salesman talked her out of it saying it is basically an Edge for 10 grand more) I would think that is enough to get a good sample of common problems, I just don't know how people have been reporting them.

I have had to scrape off ice every year on various vehicles and have never scratched the windshield. What are you using , something metal?

About 2000 miles in 6 weeks on an SEL 2 times a problem with Blackberry where I try to end the call and it doesn't end, somehow goes into privacy mode. I have to turn the phone off. Other than that, no problem with phone. It pairs and does calls fine. iPod touch very brief multiple skips in songs, but from what I understand, that will be corrected in the next iPod software release within a month I believe. Navigation works fine. 4 times when I have hit the volume up/down switch on the steering wheel, it acts as if I am holding the switch and volume ramps up or down. I have to correct it with the knob under the screen. I have read in this forum at least one other person having the same problem. I have also noticed sometimes sync takes about a minute after startup to work. Sirius Travel Link fine, heated seats fine. Just some slightly annoying, very intermittent problems. I am going to try to video record the problems when they happen so I can take it to the dealer one time for them to address them and give time for Ford to look at Sync and MFT problems. Overall love the car. Power, mileage and comfort are great, just what I feel are minor problems from a new product that will get resolved.

I have had a few minor annoyances with MFT and Sync, but nothing major that makes me regret my purchase. I love the technology, but then again I am using a Blackberry and have had no problems. I also love the vehicle in general and am getting good mileage, around 23-25 combined.

Wilson, no major problems here, either. Had my SEL for a month. Blackberry Curve and I also use an iPod Touch I have noticed that it sometimes takes about 30 sec to a minute ( I need to regularly time it) after I start the car before I can do anything with Sync, but during that time I can change radio stations with the touch screen.

I cut a small square of black electrical tape and put it over the flasher. It blends in and if I need to press the button I just peel the tape back
