I guess I'm the only one surprised that the fuel door doesn't lock when the truck is locked?  My coworker said someone drilled a hole in his daughters gas tank....Found the leak when his daughter called him and said the car wouldn't start despite putting gas in it before parking for the night..... He gets to her house with his emergency can.....pours gas in....gas ours out.

no, you're not the only one. i was very surprised at this as well.

drilling holes in gas tanks to steal gas has been in the news here as of late (british columbia). that and stealing catalytic converters. it doesn't seem to end.

I was looking for a parts and labor cost. This is a lease.

how much longer is your lease? i'm thinking that i would probably just get some 3M body molding two-sided foam tape and stick that thing back on. maybe put some silicone or something to prevent water ingress. or possibly that gooey black glue for body panels. there are loads of incredible adhesives for autobody work and that would eliminate the need to deal with the headliner.

Keen to see the pictures, but can confirm that mine bought in 2017 does not attach to the back seat headrests.

same here. i had a 2016 Ti and now a 2020 ST and the cover seems to be the same one on both. neither of them attach in any way to the seats. it's a spring loaded roll in a sort of box that is held in place just behind the rear seats by spring loaded tabs into holes under the farthest rear windows. there is a rigid flap that closes the gab between the roll and the seat back.

  5. have you looked at the left display set to show power distribution to the wheels while this is happening? i've looked at this many times in non-slippery situations and seen the power being sent to the rear wheels. i would imagine you can see the same.

  6. okay, a bunch of questions to help narrow down your problem.

i assume your edge is gasoline since you're talking about 95 (which is is about 91 n. american octane). did you import it?

how many miles/km on the car? how's the oil consumption?

where do you live? what's the altitude and temperature?

how are you calculating mpg since in europe they use liters and kilometers? just wondering if your calculations could be off. i use 10.4liters/100km on my 2020 ST in british columbia, canada and i'm at sea level.

tell us about your driving habits. if you're starting a cold engine and then only driving a few km each time, then you'll be getting low mileage since the engine is cold most of the time.

is your city driving completely stop and go?

the more you can tell us, the more we can help find the problem.

  7. it's great that people have opinions that they share here. what isn't great is denigrating other people's opinions because they're not the same as yours.

in principle, the start/stop feature is honorable; reduce emissions. but where it is actually working against that goal is in my scenario. i've got stop signs every few blocks until i reach a main road. so this "feature" stops and, more crucially, starts a cold engine every few blocks. it's cold here in the winter so i'm not crazy about starting a cold engine a half-dozen times simply because i come to a complete stop at a stop sign for literally half-a-second. i installed the eliminator because of this. if i come to a stop that might be a while then i simply press the button which disables it and the engine shuts down as designed.

my guess is that my engine pollutes a lot less remaining on than getting shut down for a total of 2 or 3 seconds when it's cold.

I never could get an answer to this problem.  On top of that, the engine mounts and transmission mounts needed replacement.  The air conditioning was still original and I was afraid that might be the next problem.  The car had way too many miles (160K) on it for me to dump money into a transmission rebuild so I felt compelled to trade it in.  I hope you have better luck than I had.

my first thoughts when reading your OP was mounts, both engine and transmission. that's what happens when they go. feels like a bump. i've had it in many cars.

replacing them is the first thing i would do.

Searching online it looks to be a discontinued part. Example. You might have to consider used or rebuilding the old one.

Dealer should give you a more accurate answer.

wow, that would explain why they can't get it!! but can't they at least tell the customer that instead of making them wait?

@omar302 you are always one of the best sources of information on this board. you deserve a raise! ?

    hola, estoy en badalona

    excellent.

i lived in BCN for a few years, right downtown in the Eixample. i love the Costa Brava, especially the area around Calella.

Are the Edges in Europe All Wheel Drive or Front Wheel Drive or can you get either? I posted some pics of an Edge in a BCN dealer years ago:

there were quite a few little details that are nicer than on the edges here. for example, on the floor by the back hatch, you have stainless steel where as here it's just cheap plastic. looks really nice in stainless.

@ben senise it’s an aftermarket warranty. it’s apart of the lifetime powertrain warranty that ford dealers offer. it’s managed by total warranty services. Approval from them for the work to be done and purchase the parts has already been approved.

    ok, got it. i misunderstood.

i'm curious to know if ford dealers are getting these parts for their own car repairs and just playing games with you because it's a third party warranty at an independent garage. would your warranty pay for the repairs at the ford dealer? just thinking out loud here. i would be really really mad if i were without my car for 3+ months now.

So It’s at my mechanic at the moment. They record all calls and replay them for me in regards to dealers. They have an order in at 4 different dealers and they all are saying due to supply chain issues it’s extremely difficult at the moment. I wrote a letter to Ford using the consumer affairs portal on my state attorney’s genera website. Their response was “Due to a global supply chain shortage there are many reasons why we cannot estimate an ETA on parts. we recommend you continue working with your mechanic and the dealer where the parts order was place. Consider this our closing reply.” also no due to the aftermarket warranty agreement i cannot continue to drive with a known issue or it’ll void my warranty. Do you think you can source the part used on ebay?

wow, that sucks. i am getting so fed up with everyone using the "global supply chain issues" excuse. sure, there are some problems but from what i can observe, the problem is laziness.

what i would probably be doing in your case is getting compensation for your loss of use and/or a rental vehicle since you can't drive yours. it's under the drivetrain warranty. so if ford can't supply the parts, they can supply you with another vehicle. it'll be tough but my guess is that as soon as you take the first step by legal means, your part will miraculously appear very quickly. going to court costs these companies a fortune.

sorry to hear of your troubles and good luck getting it straightened out. please keep this forum up to date with your progress.

When I go to press the remote to lock. Randomly it does a few rapid noises apposed to just one to confirm it’s locked ? I replaced the battery as my first trouble shoot ?
what does the several horn noises mean, instead of just one ?

under normal circumstances, the car should not even do one beep when you press the lock button on your remote once.

it will beep once if you press the button on your remote twice quickly.

if you get two beeps, then something is open or perhaps a sensor is faulty.

    Hi

Got a 2012 ford edge limited and my power door lock unlock won't work and the key won't lock or unlock the car either! Read through and couldn't find anything on both phenomena. Gotta get the car to lock by manually pushing down the lock on all four doors before stepping down and getting in through the trunk just to be able to get back in the car. Liftgate still works fine. What do I do please?

doesn't your edge have the keypad on the driver's door? i had an '09 LTD and i'm pretty sure that it had that.

there is also a cap on the door handle that comes off to reveal a key slot. the key is in your key fob. you can use that temporarily as well.

you say "got a 2012..." is it new to you? has it worked in the past and just stopped now?
