My god this vehicle is turning into a nightmare.
choff1138 replied to Jamie Stross's topic in 2011 Edge & MKX
I don't know - like I said - I just know it isn't just regular air if you go to a tire shop to fill them. Science never was my forte. -

Try and get your tires filled with nitrous (I think? Don't laugh if that is the wrong gas, just know it isn't just air...) might help with the cold. I know they do that here in AK in the winter. Those tires were the seal the deal against the sport for me. They are beauties, but I was looking to not have to switch out summer/winter tires. Good luck with your dealer. -
Glad it seems to have worked itself out and hope it stays that way.

Hate to ask, but I will.... did you have gloves on? I have noticed mine is not as responsive with really heavy gloves on. But that is the only issue I have had with that.

I agree with you - took me awhile to bother putting pictures with the contacts on the phone at all.

Sorry - but get real - they aren't going to list all the phones that do or don't work perfectly with the system. This isn't something that is limited to the Iphone as not working, but really, Apple and Microsoft working perfectly? never.

We were so hard on those dang cars - my brothers taught me how to bounce off the snow berms as you go around a corner - make sure you keep the gas on so you don't get stuck. woo hoo!

If I find them parked. My husband was dying laughing at me because we saw a black sport last night pull into a gas station and I wanted him to stop so we could go say hi... he wouldn't. (Sad Carrie) So I have now seen two besides mine and I know of an SEL that was sold. (yes that small of a town and dealerships that I know these things) If any other were special ordered, I don't know about those. COME ON OTHER ALASKAN'S WHERE ARE YOU?

We don't have a lot of rerouting options on traffic... one highway in and out - if it is closed - you might get lucky to find out before you get on it. But our traffic isn't so bad either.

It is hard to do true donuts with an AWD system... much better in old Subaru's to pull the emergancy break and spin into the road you wanted..... oh good times.

My advice would be until you get the car - stop messing with downloading software. I am guessing that they are updating yours completely before you get it and it was a coincidence on the timing of the removal. Until you have the car and can see if it even will have any issues, don't stress about what might be. There have been plenty of these cars that have little or no problems with the original version of the software.

Ford's version of accuracy and completeness depends on where you are located. Street names and visual works great 95% of the time for most of the US from what it sounds like. Does pretty good in the Anchorage area of Alaska, but haven't gone much beyond that. The POI is pretty lacking up here, but then POI are pretty lacking up here. If you compare MFT to Ipods or Garmin's you will always find something about one or the other you like better. The thing is do you want a fully integrated system, or do you want an extra device that you have to find a place to set and make sure you take in and out of your car. Only you can decide.

I am hoping for that app too - I looked into those viper starters with app and decided it wasn't worth it. If you have everything set to Auto it should warm up enough for you - if it is truly cold enough outside.

I am running the standard 18's on mine. Granted I am not driving in deep snow often, but doing just fine on compact snow/ice for the last oh two months... and yes two to three months left to go.... I have gotten the light to flash on occasionally but it is really fast so if the wheel is just right you might miss it. Don't go crazy with the car Wilson - you just got it working to where you are now happy with it.

FWD - you shouldn't need the AWD

Love the car - it handles wonderfully in the snow and ice. The BAMR lets in much needed light in our dark winter (eventually it might warm up enough to open it). The room is great for my family of three. Adjustable enough that both my husband and I are comfortable driving it. And my 4 year old loves the ambient lighting. Win win for all of us. The touch is great as long as you set your expectations correctly. This is a new technology in a car. It is not your i (pod, pad, phone) it has a responsiveness more like my husbands couple year old garmin. It just takes a half a second and the more touch happy you get, the more it gets confused and slows down (it is microsoft based after all). You will enjoy the car and learn the system and enjoy it too. Just remember that it isn't apple....

Oh I know - just hasn't been time to go without a car. And with out major problems, why rush?

I have had my limited since September with virtually no problems. Just have to lock my door sometimes to turn off the night light. Don't let forum ranters scare you off. Most of them have had the update and are now happy. The car is awesome.

I have finally seen another 2011 limited in my town here in AK - I hope they show up on this forum soon. i have heard rumors of a Black one too. woo hoo, finally some more showing up in Alaska.

My Ford Touch Volume
choff1138 replied to Edgar Edgeworthy's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
There is also an option in the settings. Don't remember what it was called, but I found it recently. Has option to have it set to novice or expert, which is just more words or more sounds and beeps. -
Does the Edge have auto lock?
choff1138 replied to tknice's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
It will be obvious when you see it. It is just a raised up "bump" on the handle - Hard to explain. -
Does the Edge have auto lock?
choff1138 replied to tknice's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
The only time I use the fob it is auto-start the car from my office. I touch the bump on the outside of the handle to lock the car. -
Where are you located with all that snow?

2011 AWD Ford Edge - Fixed the leaky PTU?
choff1138 replied to mindwarp's topic in All Wheel Drive (AWD)
I would guess that it is way to early to say conclusively if it is fixed or not. But any model year has the chance to fix something or to make something worse. Live life. If you like the car - buy it on that alone. You never know what each car will bring, but if you live on maybe - you might as well stay with the car you have and know. -
I haven't noticed this in Alaska where maybe not as windy - but plenty cold.
