Tinted Taillights

Recommended Posts

So I'm wondering from other peoples' experiences which looks/works better to tint taillights....VHT nite shades or other methods? my friends have used nite shades on their cars and I've even done it on mine but sometimes during the day it looks more dirty than it does tinted. Any comments?

Thanks

Back years ago I had those dark tinted AVS tail light covers on a 1995 Explorer. Was sitting at a red light and got nailed by some guy driving an Escort. I should have gotten a ticket but nobody said anything about the shades. The guy was a little drunk and was taken for an ambulance ride wearing a kneck brace.

With tinting this it isn't that the brake lights don't show up well its the reflectors. With out vivible reflectors in most states it is illegal. I did a light coat on my focus that dimmed the red just a bit but left the reflectors for the most part in tact. So if you feel you have to have it done do not go super dark.

Yeah, personally not a fan of legality as i pretty much do as i please with my vehicles. Although i wont out a tinted license on the edge since the wife got pulled over by a douchebag for having one on her last car. The taillights on both the car and truck are tinted and provide a nice look without creating a severe visibility issue. Just need to find a good deal on a spare set for the edge.

Sleepy can you explain to me the function of the tinted liscense plate? Because if some "douchebag" hit me and ran and I wasn't able to read the plate because of it I'd be livid.

I do not see any good reason to have it on a car unless you do stupid things and want to minimize the chance of being caught
