Muffler Black is this normal?

I was looking at the muffler and noticed it's pretty black is this normal?

Maybe you ran through something black on the highway? If not, you might have a hole in your muffler   I think these mufflers will last many, many years...……..

I'm sure there is a weep hole in your muffler allowing moisture buildup a place to drain.

It appears to me that it's moisture mixed with exhaust gases causing that discoloration.

Yes there are weeping holes in the muffler, so unfortunately with how rich ford tuned these things we end up with black mufflers.

I’m in the same boat so it’s normal to have black muffler?

Welcome to the forum Ashley coppe.  Just wanted to point out that you are responding to a post that is 5 years old.  Just in case you didn't notice it.  Not a big deal, but just wanted to point it out.

Even though this is 5 years old, but for Ashley's sake, yes it could be normal.  Mine is also ever so slightly black but not like the picture.  

 

The muffler has two ( 2 ) small weep holes, one at either side of the muffler.
