Interesting, the water pump on our 2013 3.5L Edge started leaking externally out of a weep hole around 70K. The dealer didn't seem to think it was unusual on the 2013.

I'd suggest you visit a different dealer or an independent shop.  Coolant leaking from a weep hole of 'any' water pump indicates seals are failing.  For the '13 there are two seals.  If the inner one fails coolant is released through the weep hole as a warning.  If the second one fails coolant will dump into the oil sump potentially causing catastrophic engine damage.
