Possible Seat Control Module issue?

I see you mentioned you switched the modules but I am not sure if you meant the cooling device (TED) or the Seat Control Module.

We changed both and no luck. There is the DSM module as well as these heating / ventilating fans. We changed both and no luck at all. There is no heating module under passanger seat at all, everything seems to be connected to DSM module which we exchanged for another one and still the same issue

No seat specific problems are reported via OBD.

Use ForScan with a good adapter. It will read all the modules in the vehicles, including the seat related modules. Not just the generic OBD codes and will greatly help you in the diagnosis.

Also, there was a TSB for

Also, if the issue is similar, reading this other thread here on the issue and/or this post on the F150 might help.

If you have a bad adapter, you will run into problems.

Supported adapters: https://forscan.org/home.html

OBDLink EX USB, recommended USB adapter for Windows version of FORScan, also for configuration and programming functions

OBDLink MX+ BT, recommended Bluetooth adapter for Lite versions of FORScan (iOS, Android)

OBDLink SX/LX/MX

ELS27 (STN1170/2120)

ELM327-compatible (fully compatible with original ELM327, please also see important note)

Thank you both. I doubt I'll dig very far into this. The memory seat 1/2/3 has worked for the most part since we purchased the Edge new in April 2021. The easy exit/entry never worked properly, sometimes putting us right on top of the steering wheel, despite a new DSM, so we just disabled that feature in the settings menu. So seeing the heat/cool is controlled by the DSM is deflating for me. This has been the biggest POS I have ever owned to be honest and I am a pretty loyal Ford guy. This Edge has tested me and more so my wife so we will likely go in a different direction on our next purchase. Sad because we love the damn thing otherwise, just wish it wasn't constantly needing fixed.

Looking thru the PDF documents that HAZ kindly posted, I feel I can eliminate F74 & F77 because they would affect both front seats and passenger is working. Potentially S374 & S376 could be the culprit, but that seems highly unlikely. My best guess is either at one of the connectors like 341B/C or the DSM itself since they also share the ground G303, again a splice in there that seems unlikely to be bad. Snowing today, so it may be months before I can actually unbolt the seat and get a good look. If we even have the Edge that long.

Hi

Did you managed to fix this issue. I have similar issue for a year now and cannot find fault for it. We changed the DSM module already as well as these strange fans and no luck. The only thing that wasn't change is the wireing loom. Please let me know if you had any luck as this is driving me crazy.

By the way, Ford parts list states that there should be memory module and heated seats module but I cannot find this module anywhere. Only DSM is there

Hi.

Maybe you have some more insight on this as I like my car a lot but this issue makes me so crazy I want to sell it 😂

Hmm the start/stop behaviour of the fan you mentioned is what mine does in cold temperatures, but it's by design.

Perhaps it's reading the temperature wrong and thinks the unit is too cold.

I think doing a FORscan with a quality OBD adapter is your next step to see what information the system is getting and if there are any faults or errors. Would be good to compare the driver and passenger seat info. to see if there's any awry.

I'm not sure how they arrived at that recommendation, but my OBDLink MX+ BT works flawlessly with Windows FORScan and FORScanLite.

I use the same adapter for my wife's BMW X5 and my BMW K1600.

This adapter has very good reviews on a number of sites.

It is recommended to have a hardwired USB connection for flashing firmware and doing programming. USB is a more reliable connection than Bluetooth.

A Bluetooth adapter should work well for diagnostic codes and simple programming. It may even work better in certain situations where you would want to move your computer around to different locations.

We have done that with proffesional computer as well as with ForScan.. No errors at all. The behaviour of the fan isn't normal. Also the temperature sensor is integrated with the fan, which was changed already once and also we changed it again second time with the passanger seat (which was working fine) and that made no diference. We checked each wire and also no issues there. The only thing we want to check now is to put this seat into a car that is working fine to find out if the problem is with the seat or there is something in the car that makes such issue.

What a puzzle! Are you doing this on your own or do you have tech's assisting?
