Doing ATF Drain/Fill what ATF fluid to use?

2018 3.5L AWD

Manual calls for motorcraft mercon lv transmission fluid of course but wondering if Valvoline Maxlife Multi-vehicle full synthetic would be good?

Or is it best not to mix and just keep using motorcraft because a drain/fill won't get all the fluid out and it's best not to mix?

best not to mix for the long term.  mixing should be reserved for "top up" type work.

 

No harm in sticking with Motorcraft LV fluid as long as you strictly observe the 5/60 rule of fluid exchange.  If you are OCD, 2.5/30 is even better

Uhhhhhh  OCD 2.5/30????   Not sure I've heard of that.

2.5 years or 30k miles if you are obsessive compulsive about it.

I agree with others here - for the long term, your best bet is to stick with Mercon LV.  The trans fluid is not the issue, it's lack of changing it.
