Radio keeps switching from satellite to fm and I can not activate satellite radiošŸ¤”Ā it's a 2010 SEL with original radio.Just got it and I have done no work to the radio to cause any problemsĀ

When you say switching, do you mean when you select Satellite, it immediately goes back to FM? Or does it switch between the two on its own? Also, does it switch back to FM if you select AM or another source?

Ā all by itself, only does this when set to satelliteĀ

Those couple seconds before it switches to FM, does it play the preview channel or is there no sound at all? There may be an issue internally with the radio or the Satellite antenna. I'd lean towards an issue internally with the radio though. You may have to swap it out with either a new aftermarket head unit or a used factory head unit.

While there are 3 possible configurations for your SEL (standard 6 disc with 4 speakers, SYNC added, or navigation premium sound with 9 speakers), SYNC can require a hard reset, which is done either by removing the fuse (#3 under the dash), the radio (fuse 28), I haven't had a vehicle with stand alone satellite module (fuse #13), or pulling the negative battery cable.

Ā

I don't know how accessible the fuse panel in yours is, but in my 2012 Fusion, it is easier to pull the battery cable (for ~20 seconds, and turning on the headlights to be sure to discharge power, often if I don't do that, it will not reset, and I can tell because I don't lose time or radio presets).

Ā

If it has never worked, as suggested, a master reset would also be a good idea. Get rid of the previous owners phones (if it has SYNC/Navigation), do you have a Sirius/XM account? Are you expecting it to work, or hope it has lifetime, or the previous owner left their account active?
