I had my grille inserts replaced. I think my salesguy said there wasn't a front bracket in the car. They wrapped up the chrome inserts in foam padding, so I could keep 'em. I haven't looked at them to know if a bracket was ever attached. Since front plates are not required in my state, I guess I'll never know.

Music from iTunes to mp3? USB Flash Drive?
revOevoM replied to carfaninpa's topic in 2011 Edge & MKX
I successfully tested listening to the music ripped from CD to my iTunes library in Apple Lossless format and sync'd to my iPod Touch. Sounded great. -
Uuhhhh.... don't think so. The dealer ordered, painted and installed the pieces. She was sitting right in front of the dealership when I got there around 10 this morning.

The grille inserts were painted last week. Should be plenty dry by now. (I haven't seen 'em, though) Although my car made it to the depot, it's got a lot in front of it and a ways to go to the dealer. It won't get there till sometime Sunday. And because they have a bit of prep (remove and install grilles and check the alignment), it won't be until mid-late Monday that I could get it. So I've scheduled to go Tuesday and not have to rush through things... inspection, test drive, more inspection, paperwork, maybe one more test drive. Hope to have some pics soon after that. -

My salesfriend called today around 9am. As of 7:30 this morning, the train with my new Edge was about 15 miles from its destination. The truck transport company said they have over 20 railcars to unload, so it will probably be late tomorrow (Friday) or Saturday before my car gets to the dealer. So it looks like I'll be able to take delivery on Monday or Tuesday. -
This guy at DetNews drove the Edge cross country. See what he had to say in his review.

My wife was buying a new [non-Ford] car in April this year. She knew what she wanted; we test drove; she completed all the financing. We drove the one at the dealership that was spec'd out like she wanted except for Nav. "We have one coming in in just a few days..." Well, it came in. But, like yours, was damaged - hers beyond sellable. Another large truck (not sure if it was a vehicle transport) clocked the rear corner of the transport hers was on - at that exact spot. Because they're cinched down like a hurricane's coming, the car didn't budge, but the rear axle did. Bent it and the frame. Silver lining: she bought the one we test drove, got an aftermarket Nav installed (which functionally was much better than factory) including steering wheel control, plus a rear camera and window tint - for the same price as the factory Nav would've cost. She ended up with a much better vehicle. Now, I'm not saying that your outcome may be similar. Believe me, I feel your pain. Just relaying another auto ownership mishap. I wish you the best. (Ya know, if it was me, I'd ask for a new one. Waiting is painful, but having a pristine new car is worth it.) -
Roof antenna: remove to go through carwash?
revOevoM replied to lakleeman's topic in 2011 Edge & MKX
Check out the pics on this page from the guy whose Edge got wrecked coming off the truck. Did they unscrew the antenna for transit? -
Someone's already thought and written about hoisting the SD cards (not that it'll do 'em much good). I did read somewhere there is a No SD Card msg displayed... dunno exactly when that occurs, tho. If you're not using the nav system, you can listen to music (or grab photos) off an SD card. Not sure if you can mak a copy (that will work).

Finally! After the railcar with my Edge on it sat for 6 (six!) day at a repair facility in Michigan, I just got word from CN that it was picked up by NS yesterday afternoon. I found out late Friday that it was just a minor part failure, but it had to wait its turn to get repaired. But thankfully, all that's done and my Edge has resumed its journey to me, its rightful owner. Hope to have it by week's end. -

Oh man! I don't believe this. I was looking pretty good. My Edge got produced on 9/1 and released to the transport company on 9/3. My dealer's been charged for it (typical when officially 'shipped') and it shows up on their inventory. So far, so good. The CN train routes from Oakville to Toledo, OH where it gets picked up by NS and heads to Atlanta. But it hasn't made it to Toledo! Turns out at a routine station stop in Flatrock, MI - about halfway between Detroit and Toledo - routine inspection found a mechanical problem with the railcar my Edge is on. Dunno what that problem is, just know that the cargo is OK. (Ha! Cargo!) Of all the railcars, mine gets loaded on a failcar. It's been there for two days already and CN support (very nice guy, btw) sez it may be another couple days before it gets moving again. Damn! Sit. Wait. -

Just a hunch... my salesguy is an old friend. My Edge order was placed on July 23 as a stock order with a priority of 10, not a customer order. I received my VIN the following week. My Edge was originally slated for an 8/16 week build, then got pushed to the week of 8/30. It was built on 9/1, released to Autoport on 9/3 and is currently in transit. Should be at the dealer some time next week. My guess is your orders went in as customer orders. Stock order (especially with a higher priority) will be pulled by the factory first. ...just a hunch.

My car was produced last week on Wed, 9/1. On Fri, 9/3 I was told by CRC that it had been released to Autoport, but still in Oakville with no ETA. I dug around a bit and found that it travels by CN rail to Toledo, then switches to Norfolk Southern (at least to come to the Atlanta area where I am). Just now CRC told me it was in Michigan (I assume heading toward Toledo), but still did not have an ETA. She told me the dealer could now provide further details. Not sure if it would stay on a rail to Cleveland (it's only, what, 90 miles?) or get trucked. I know of no UPS-like tracking available to customers. That'd be sweet! -

Here I am, within a week or two of taking delivery of my new 2011 Edge and I finally saw my first one in person today. As lame as the local auto show is, I go every year to see what's new. This year it was doubly important for me because I knew I was going to get a new vehicle of some kind later in the year. The auto show was in March. But this year of all years I had shoulder surgery the week of the show and I couldn't make it. So when I started my search - it's been an ongoing thing, really for about a year - I decided on the Edge, mainly because of the 2011 makeover and the cool tech. I contacted my old friend at the Ford dealership (geez, we hadn't talked in about 30 years :poke:!!) and we did the deal a few days later, me still not having even seen one. This was in July. I told myself I wouldn't sit in one until it was mine, but curiosity got the better of me and I stopped by a local dealership. (My dealer is 50+ miles away.) They had three: one red, one white, one blue; had sold two others this week. Unfortunately, they were in their below parking deck and it was kinda dark. I was able to see the basics. I did not turn the key press the start button and did not drive. I feel like I've betrayed my own car even before I've seen her.:o -
From Toledo my Edge will head South, not West. I'm in the Atlanta area. I'm NW of Atlanta and the dealer is waaay East, maybe 50-55 miles from me.

I found out late yesterday afternoon that my Edge was released to Autoport with a status of "In Transit," but was still in Oakville without an ETA. I dug around the intertubes a bit and saw that Autoport uses CN ("North America's Railroad") and to get most anywhere in the US, the route goes to Toledo, OH. There a transfer is made to [most likely] Norfolk Southern (at least to get to the Southeast). But now that it's the weekend and a holiday one at that, only my dealer can provide further updates, as CRC is closed until Tue. It may very well be loaded and on its way already. It actually still may arrive this coming week.

:hysterical2: I created a myfordsync login when I got my VIN a couple weeks ago. Until today, the site always said "Verify your VIN." Today, one day after my Edge was produced, it now acknowledges the VIN is valid and allows me to setup stuff. I can also see what Sync software has been installed and what updates are available. I can also send a Google Map location to the vehicle successfully, which I could not do before. Of course, this all completely useless to me until I can sit in it.

Look up about 4 posts. My Edge's status became "In Production" on 8/18 and was built yesterday. That's 15 days. Have not heard of any parts delays.
-
Finally, I see progress being made on my Edge. I was told by CRC a couple weeks ago there was a "Scheduled to Day" date of Sep 01 (build completion date). My build week was pushed from 8/16 to 8/30 early on. Well, this is the week of 8/30 and yesterday was Sep 01. All this time (since the 8/18 accepted and sent to factory date) the status has been "In Production." I just received word from my salesguy (helps that he's an old friend of mine) that the primary status is "In Production" with secondary status of "Produced" and a status date Sep 01. The "Veh Loc" is still Oakville assembly with an ETA of TBD. We're hoping that the seconday status changes soon to "Released to Carrier" then a location change to "On Train" or something to that effect. Once that happens, we should have an ETA (delivery date). While I'm hopeful that will still be next week, it doesn't seem likely.
