  1. none of the Limiteds in that gallery have a blue grille!! wtf?? :eek5: :P
  2. How's come I see 28 Edges, but only 2007, 2008 and 2010 models. Where are you? edit: Ah... there you are. You have only 2 "fuel-ups". Must have 3 min to show without having to "show all".
  3. Uhhhh... how? The article specifically sez: Buy Two Fords and One Navigation Card? Nice Try (It Won't Work) If you visions of being a two- or three-Ford family and moving one SD card among multiple cars, that apparently is a non-starter. "The SD cards are not locked to individual VINs, so technically it is possible to switch from MyFord Touch-equipped vehicle to vehicle," said Ford spokesman Alan Hall. "But, the navigation capability will only work if that vehicle was originally ordered with the navigation option, and therefore received a SD card upon purchase." In other words, you could use a the SD card from your MyFord Touch car in your MyLincoln Touch car only if you order both cars with the navigation option.
  4. I asked Sync support which phones support voicing text messages. There are only three Verizon phones. I have Verizon cell phone service and was up for my new-every-two and my current phone coincidentally crapped out. So I got an LG "Cosmos." I don't want a Droid or other smartphone. And the LG was free. Just a basic phone. Contact photos don't upload for it either. One weird thing I saw was the editing for one of the contacts for which I did have a photo assigned (but not displayed) asked if I wanted to delete the photo. So it knew there was one, but it couldn't - or wouldn't - display it.
  5. Thanks for posting the pics. The anti-glare and anti-fingerprint features look great. While I think the end result is worth it, I must say I do not care for the "gap around the edges." I would want the film to cover the entire visible window so there is no gap. Anyone purchase the bigger size? And install? And could post pics? Thanks.
  6. Cayenne won, by the way... in case you had not seen.
  7. I don't think they can be saved. I sent a Google map location and when I acessed Sync services, it asked me if I wanted to download that location. So far so good. Well, this one time, the download failed a couple times (only time it's done that) and then it was pretty much lost. Never asked me again. So I think you have the one shot. Other times, the download worked fine and once 'Set as Dest' is pressed, you're on your way. I have not tried sending more than one location at a time. Not sure how that will work. Something I want to try.Anyone try this? How's it work?
  8. Microsoft announced some new embedded tools for the auto industry... here and here where will it take us?
  9. hey Rich. That's a great story. I too drove a 2004 FX35 (with a good bit of mods to push it into the 45 power range) and traded it for a 2011 Edge Ltd. I also had a zero-problem Infiniti for 6½ yrs. While I was a bit apprehensive going from a Japanese luxury brand to a domestic vehicle, I've been very pleased so far with my Edge. My wife sez I spend too much time at the computer (don't they all?) so now I can be in front of one when I drive. I was originally thinking MKX to replace the FX (so many Xs!) I decided on the Edge just to save a bit of money. I don't drive a lot of miles and couldn't justify the added bucks for the Lincoln. As far as your detailing, there are some threads in this forum dedicated to detailing - with some other detailing pros. Come on over here, boy, have a cigar... you're gonna go far.
  10. The original Sync manual was worded as though you could select one of the three and that would be your default. Note: The full corner display (2) with preselected shortcuts is the default home screen. This screen will momentarily appear at vehicle start up and will then transition to your chosen selection, if different. However, the wording has been modified in the new version. Looks like the winner is Screen Number 2! Note: The full corner display (2) with preselected shortcuts is the default home screen. This screen will appear at vehicle start-up.
  11. bummer, big time I would suggest placing a "Want" in the Buy/Sell/Trade section for a chrome piece. Someone who did what I did and bought & painted a set to replace the chome ones may have the chromes available for sale. I cannot. I leased and the dealer wrapped up the OEM chrome pieces in case they need 'em back at end-o'-lease. Good Luck
  12. I have an 8GB SDHC card in a mini-USB reader plugged into one of the USB ports. It has 3 folders: Photos, Music, Videos. There are no files in the Videos folder. I can retrieve and save photos (they follow the rules for wallpaper) and play all the music. I have left it plugged in. I notice when I start the Edge, a "USB not supported" message displays. I dismiss it. After that, I can do all as described above.
  13. Edit: This comparison is bewteen versions 1 and 2 of the MyFordTouch Supplement, not the Owner's Guide. Geez, I titled the topic incorrectly. I'll try to get a similar compare done for the Owner's Guide this week. I did my best to determine the following differences. Some may have been overlooked. But I think I got the major stuff. v1 dated May 2010; v2 dated September 2010 Aside from the obvious page numbers (some due to new page breaks, some by text), a few typos corrected and a couple "Press"s changed to "Touch"s, here's the list: p5 v1 Note: The full corner display (2) with preselected shortcuts is the default home screen. 14. I noticed there was a 2nd printing of the Owner's Guide available. I am in the process of compiling differences between the 2nd and the 1st (you're welcome). So far, many have been minor. Some references to "Press" have been replaced by "Touch", stuff like that. On page 7, though I got a laugh about a new addition (my emphasis): • (Hazard flasher): Touch to activate/deactivate the hazard flashers. When you are using the touchscreen system, be careful not to accidently activate the hazard flashers. For more information, refer to Hazard Flasher Control in the Roadside Emergencies chapter in your Owner Guide.
  15. Thanks. I had all that working when I did not have a valid Nav SD card. I was able to successfully send a Google Map location to TDI and get directions. I had not tried it again since I got the replacement SD card. This morning I tried, but when the location was downloading, the call kept failing - I retried a couple times. That's the first time that's happened. I found that if the dowload fails, then you do something else, the location is pretty much lost and it doesn't prompt you again if you want to dowload it. Kinda sucks, 'cause now you've lost your sent-to-car location. So, this afternoon, I tried again, got a successful location download and sure enough, it marked the spot on the Nav system map where I could then Set as Destination. Had I tried this, I would have seen how it works and discovered this myself. I was hoping there was a way to bypass Sync Services for this feature, but I see now how the Sync integrates with my phone the Nav system. mleber, thanks again for going through the details. I'm sure others will benefit.
  16. Question: How did you get a Google location sent to Sync TDI to set a destination in your Nav system. Mine won't, or I am not following the correct steps. I asked Ford Sync support how to send a Google location to the Nav system. That can't happen; only to TDI. Thanks.
  17. I wasn't lucky enough to have any discount options. I paid invoice + $200 for my grille. But I got a good rate! :yup:
  18. Yes. 20-inch AWD On another subject, I get a checkle chuckle out of how other forum members refer to me. Rev, rev, RevO... lf you haven't figured it out, look in your rear-view mirror to determine why my forum name is what it is. :P
  19. Just for grins, select the brand of Tires (or Tyres for you Brits) that came on your Edge / MKX. The list was created from the brands listed in the Tire Warranty Guide booklet. I'll go first. Mine are Pirelli Scorpions. Never had Pirellis before. So far, I like 'em.
  20. Did you read my post? I asked "What can I do now that I'm connected?" Sheesh! Cool. Now we wait. (can ya let this person know, please? bpattie)
  21. In case you wanted to know... I take a security precaution on my wireless router by limiting the IP addresses that can be dynamically assigned, then assigning a device's MAC address to each available IP. I also have WPA security. So when I went to connect BluEdge, I needed her MAC address. A correspondence from the Sync Support Center proved fruitless. "Thank you for your email in regards to finding the MAC address. Unfortunately there is no way to find that information. The MyTouch system was just designed to search for wireless networks, and allows you to put in the wireless security key after." Here are two ways to find an Edge with MyFordTouch MAC address: 1) attempt to connect your Edge to your wireless network; look in your router's logs for the connection attempt - whether successful or failed - may or may not be there (way too easy); 2) review the xml file that is created on your USB drive after an attempt at a Sync upgrade - buried in there is the wireless MAC address for the vehicle's system. How is that Unfortunately there is no way to find that information? Do they think consumers are stoopid? What can I do now that I'm connected? Hey, it's a start! (There's a little wireless icon that displays to the left if the Information i at the bottom middle when you're connected.)
  22. In the week I had my new Edge before the new [good] SD card was sent, I used the Sync TDI a couple times. I was pleasantly suprised by its accuracy, details, interface... overall was impressed. After you ask for directions, it will ask what kind (address, business name). I was driving to the dealer once (I knew where I was going) and said the city, then dealer name. Took me right there. Also took me home right to my driveway. (I knew where I was going that time, too!). I don't think you can key in a destination. I may be wrong on that. There are no visual maps. Turn-by-turn audible and visual instructions. Visual is just arrows and street names. Why would you want the Nav? It is a lot more robust. You can set priorities, etc - all kinds of stuff. And you get maps! Up to you whether that's all worth it.
  23. Thanks dude... might take a while... I'll letcha know...
  24. Canuck, if you remember, I was the one who likes zymöl. I felt like it lasted well beyond 4-6 weeks. I guess it depends how much the vehicle is driven, in rain, in sun, etc. Mine is always garaged when not being used. That being said... here's the question about a new 2011 Edge. I was cleaning the windows and applying Rain-X. I noticed when my terrycloth was rubbed over the painted surface of the car, it is not very smooth at all. You know that great smoothness you get when freshly waxed? Well, BluEdge doesn't have it. I have always heard that a new car's finish (paint) should not be detailed, sealed, waxed until at least about three months. Time to cure? Not sure that still applies with car finishes & clearcoats nowadays. It hasn't rained since I've had my Edge. I have no idea how water may or may not bead up. I would surely like it to have that smooth clean finish. Better for it; easier to keep clean. What's your take? I've used Zaino glass cleaner before, but not any of their sealants. I would like to treat BluEdge right from the start. Whaddaya think? Oh - one more thing: I noticed zymöl doesn't have different formulas for different paint anymore (Japon, German, light colors, dark colors). Does it matter any more? Thanks for your expert opinion.
  25. My ordeal is over Recap: took delivery on Tue 9/21; Nav SD card not recognized by system - suspect SD card bad; drove back to dealer Sat 9/25 (Ford would not send out new SD card before software updates & diagnostics performed; Tue 9/28 Ford finally relents to sending new SD card after all else fails; BluEdge driven back to me Wed 9/29 with no SD card. The dealer received the replacement Nav SD card from Ford today and had it delivered to me. Got here by 10:15am. By 10:30am I was able to confirm Nav system working! The moral of the story: go with your gut instincts. Had Ford sent a replacement initially, I would have saved time, aggravation, dealer time, dealer aggravation, me driving a piece-o'-crap loaner for 4 days, etc.
