  1. I had my salesguy purchase the 3-piece grille inserts when I ordered BluEdge. The dealer's body shop had 'em painted and installed before I took possession. All for ~$200.
  2. You will have to purchase a Mercedes S-Class with some options (starts at $158k). What do you want for $40k? Please let us know how that works out. SPLITVIEW front-seat entertainment system (Optional Equipment) An exclusive breakthrough in video technology allows the 8-inch high-resolution in-dash LCD screen to show two different displays to the driver and front passenger. So while the driver continues to enjoy all the functionality of the standard COMAND system, including audio, navigation and easy control of vehicle settings, the passenger can watch a DVD movie using the standard in-dash player, wireless remote and wireless headphones.
  3. I got my two front windows done with 3M 35%. I like it just fine.
  4. Uhh... yeah... that was mentioned in the original press release. Also specific to SYNC Destinations is a 5 mph lockout feature, which automatically halts the app from running on a smartphone once it is detected to be traveling in excess of 5 mph, helping drivers stay focused on the task of driving.
  5. This press release (link) dated 12/29 has all the info. In a nutshell... SYNC® Destinations is a free smartphone app that gives SYNC Traffic, Directions and Information (TDI) users mobile access to search for and save destinations to their cloud-based SYNC Services account for easy access when back in the car. I have not tested it yet. The iOS version sez it works for iPhone and also with iPad wi-fi and 3G. I have an iPod Touch, so I'm not sure if it's compatible. I'll test it out later today. Also available for Android devices... Blackberry forthcoming. edit: The app does not load to an iPod Touch - is not compatible. pdf version of the press release attached Sync Destinations App.pdf
  6. Revisiting my lock/unlock theory from a post on 12/5 above... Except for that one wierd day, I've been lucky to not experience many of the problems a lot of Edge/MKX owners have. Since I was off a couple days for the holidays, I thought I'd schedule a service appt to get the TSB SYNC update. What the heck. But then I cancelled, figuring since I am not really having the issues, I should leave well enough alone. And maybe wait till the next update comes out. Today I was running errands and dropped of some stuff at Goodwill. (hey, it's almost tax time) I turned off the ignition, popped the rear hatch, unloaded the boxes, got my receipt and left. I did not lock BluEdge. Wasn't 5 minutes. BSOD. (black, not blue) First time in 98 days of ownership. Followed by a reboot. Everything was fine after that. Phone paired automatically, Sirius restarted. No problems. But isn't this the wierdest thing? The only two times I have had any problems whatsoever was when I left the Edge unlocked for a short period. Of course, now I can kick myself for not getting the update when I had the time. D'oh! I'll wait a bit and see what happens.
  7. syncmyride.com as a relatively new set of links and pages that have all kinds of info on setting up phones, wallpaper, using voice commands, ambient lighting... all kinds of things for MyFordTouch and MyLincolnTouch. Goto http://syncmyride.com/own/touch No need to login to get the info, but the login link is there too.
  8. WHA? You're telling me that this update is theoretically user-installable?!? After all that's happened?
  9. Why is this available only for the 2011 Fiesta? And not Edges? What are we? Chopped liver? When will the Edge get the respect it deserves?
  10. Neither one of them sheds! Thanks very much. I'll let her know. Bella too.
  11. I replaced the chrome grille with a Kona Blue painted one because, well... that was just too much chrome. I liked the look of the black Sport grille, but didn't want a Sport for other reasons. I should have painted the grille black. Then it would confuse everyone. Is it a Sport? Is it a Limited? Is it a hybrid?
  12. First off, Bella LOVES BluEdge. She has her own vent right there in the back of the console. And she loves the Ambient lighting. Especially red. Rowr. Bella is an Australian Labradoodle. What's that? Well, it's not just a Lab / Poodle mix like your ordinary Labradoodle. She's very smart and well mannered already at 17 months. Australian Labradoodles are a non-recognized (hoping that will change someday) breed that has a bloodline going back 20+ years. Guess where it started. Yup. Here's info about them if you'd care to know more. I cannot answer your question about how my cover holds the hair. Bella doesn't shed! Our last pups -R.I.P.- left dog hair everywhere. That's not why we have Bella, but it's a nice trait. I got the cover for the other obvious reasons. Here's a pic of Bella and the wifee in a VW eos loaner a few months ago.
  13. I purchased this for my previous SUV. Works just fine in my 2011 Edge Ltd. I like it 'cause it has elastic around the bottom, small pvc stubs that go betw the seat and back (to keep from sliding) and straps over the seatback. It works with the rear two headrests off. Stays in place very well. Also has cutouts for the seatbelt. Bella always wears her harness. Did I mention my pup's name is Bella!?
  14. An accessible-in-park-only browser is slated for the future. But that sill doesn't make the Edge a hot spot. It can connect to any wireless within range to provide that capability. In addition it will allow five connections. That doesn't buy much, like was mentioned -- those other connectable devices can easily connect to the network the Edge is connected to. The way I see this configuration as advantageous is via the UBS ports. Given a USB wireless modem (available now through a contract wth most cell carriers) plugged directly into an Edge's USB port, the Edge now becomes its own wireless hot spot. Again with additional device connections available. Once the internal browser's available, the intertubes is just a click away! Am I right about this?
  15. Fine. Partners get it first. I understand that. But, how long do ya think they've had it in order to create this latest compatible version? When do we get to play?
  16. Chime in if I'm off base here, but wouldn't a wired ethernet connection be [extremely] more reliable than satellite? Any provider with a large download always suggests wired over wireless. And why in the world wouldn't the update be downloaded to a dealer's server (heck, even a tech workstation) prior to attemtpting to apply it to a consumer's vehicle? This isn't 1982, is it? (btw, that's when Windows 1.0 was developed) Wouldn't that be efficient? And if you say... well, each car's update may be different... Isn't that what SyncMyRide is supposed to keep track of? What a fiasco. This should be an extremely simple process and they've underover-engineered it into a huge cluster.
  17. Why mess with Ps? Just take a picture While it's a Limited, not a Sport (and not red)... you get the idea.
  18. Funny you should mention this. Just now I posted here. Your suggestion seems exactly what SYNC® AppLink™ is designed for. These are the kinds of solutions we should be able to be working on now. Only, they haven't provided the SDK for us.
  19. I ran across this link today regarding the latest Android app for Pandora that "adds support for Ford SYNC® AppLink™" (theoretically allows Pandora to be controlled via the car controls). Engadget discusses here. So, I went out to the SyncMyRide developer site to see if there's any new news... like has the SDK been unleashed?. The site's conveniently "Unavailable." Anyone out there know what's going on? Hows come Pandora gets the SDK and we don't?
  20. Owner's Manual sez... You should perform the engine oil change as indicated by the message center. The message center will display ENGINE OIL CHANGE SOON or OIL CHANGE REQUIRED to indicate when an oil change is needed. The engine oil change service needs to be completed within two weeks or 500 miles (800 km) after the OIL CHANGE REQUIRED message is displayed. Your oil change service interval can be up to one year or 10,000 miles (16,000 km).
  21. Yeah! What they said! I don't want you seeing me in your rear-view mirror. Even if it's all the way from Eagle River. I haven't been posting much. I read the crap, weed it out and absorb the good info. It's like going to your fav restaurant. Don't let the creeps with the screaming kid ruin it for ya. (Oops, you're not one of them are you? )
