  1. Check out this post from me... and other details and replies within that thread...
  2. Although I had to go to the dealer for a SYNC "reflash," I have not had this happen to me yet.
  3. Yup. I have a Verizon LG Cosmos. Not a smartphone with all the blah, but BluEdge will read text messages to me.
  4. Then why'd you buy the damn thing? Geez, you knew it was MS software. If it's so terrible, sell it.Complaining REALLY helps.
  5. Hate to rub it in, but... For the troubles I had the first week I had the Edge, my salesguy told me that the owner of the dealership (who I met, nice guy) called Ford and caused some waves. I have no idea what he might have said or to whom. In any respect, I was suprised to find a 60mo/75,000mi Premium Care w/ Roadside warranty added to my Edge. $100 deductible. I have the paperwork. While I have a lease and can only take advantage of this if I end up purchasing, it's nice to know it's there.
  6. I found out yesterday afternoon that the TPMS works. And jack and spare, too. As soon as I started the Edge in the garage, the left side "message center" LCD Tire Pressure Warning message was on. (You can turn this off like the low gas message.) The warning light below stayed on. Damned if the left rear tire was halfway flat. No way I could drive on it. So I get it onto a flat spot on the driveway, pull out the jack & spare and swap tires. Friggin 2½ inch nail in it! I was able to drive to the Chevron - about 3 mi - who's plugged 3 or 4 punctures over the years of mine and my wife's. The warning light was on the whole trip. Returned home, swapped tires again - man, those 20" 245s are heavy! - and later ran out for a pizza. Took about two tenths of a mile and the warning lights went out.
  7. While not on the subject of a sensor fault, here's what I heard from the dealer about the TPMS itself. I mentioned to my salesguy the other day that when I finally got around to checking the tire pressure I was pleasantly suprised to find all four were exactly 36 lbs. Door jamb sticker sez 35 for this car. Well, since I'm used to adding exactly one extra pound, it's like they read my mind and added it for me. What suprised me so much was the consistency. I am not usually able to top off one or two tires and have them all be exactly the same pressure. Some are +/- a half pound. These were spot on. Now to the point. He mentioned that the TPMS is sensitive enough that if any of the five (he included spare) is down by 2 lbs the warning light warns. He said he's seen the warning light on in brand new cars when he's trying to sell 'em, so the sales team specifically mandated the prep team ensure the pressure was correct and consistent. In my case, they did their job. Well.

  9. I'm pretty sure he didn't just pull the fuse. I mentioned that. He suggested to try this: disconnect the battery cable. While disconnected, turn on the lights or some other electrical function. That'll drain everything currently residing in the system. Reconnect and see if that remedies the issue. Interesting. Basically may be a "Fuse 29 + all the rest" reset.
  10. Only thing in my history is the initial install. Note Edge was built on 9/1.
  11. I'll buy that, but... in theory, the same sofware is active now as before, just a reload has occurred. Ford needs to provide a way for the end user to perform a reload. When this happens with software loaded on my desktop, I (the end user) can get support and reload, reset, whatever's necessary. I don't have to take my hardware to the software vendor to make that happen. Geez, what would be the logistics of that? If I'm able the apply an update to SYNC via a USB flash drive, then I should be able to "reload" the same software. Dealers aren't making any money doing this (unless they're reimbursed by Ford) and end users aren't getting any happier either.
  12. Sorry, Wilson, gotta go with the consensus here. I would love to have all that cool stuff. Browser, bday reminders (why a calendar that is useless?), etc. But like others have said, not everything comes all at once. Geez, how many times have we heard MS and Apple tout the next coolest thing coming out, then nothing. You still waiting for a white iPhone, too? on Verizon?
  13. Well, the "reflash" worked. (Note, "reflash" in quotes) Before the dealer technician removed his computer, I went into the service bay with my phone. I pressed Add Phone in the car. This is where the pairing PIN has appeared for a split second, followed immediately with a "Pairing Failed" message. This time, the PIN stayed on the screen like it should and I was able to pair my phone no problem. On and off several times since then and the pairing is immediate like it was... and should remain. Weird part: the tech basically said he did nothing. Since there still isn't a SYNC update, he loaded the same update that he loaded when I took delivery 41 days ago. So he, my salesguy and I all continue to scratch our heads. When I get time, I may contact SYNC support to see if anyone can explain. I know, good luck wit dat. It cost me most of my day but, hey, I like driving the Edge, so not a total loss... and I got my phone back! So I got that goin' for me... which is nice.
  14. Well, that is very interesting. Could you provide details on when your Edge was built (more specifically, I'm looking for when your SYNC was originally flashed/installed)? That might give us a comparison (if it happens to anyone else) or timeline for when it might happen. While I'm currently having phone connection issues that a SYNC master reset did not correct, this intrigues me. I have an inquiring mind. :P Thanks for any info.
  15. Sounds like you have same or similar symptoms as I do. Here's a post I made in the Audio, Navigation & SYNC thread: My phone's been paired with SYNC for over a month when I first performed the pairing. This is not an iPhone; it's an LG - one of the few that works with the text messaging feature. It was working great - pairing immediately when I get in the Edge. But it's been a bit troublesome the past couple weeks doing the pairing. Lately it would not pair at all. Call SYNC support. They tell me I have to go to the dealer to get SYNC reflashed. SYNC support mentioned there is a known hardware problem with the 2011 Edge SYNC systems. Can't get there till Monday (today is Wednesday). He also asked me (and I had never heard of this) was if I had removed my phone's battery. Wha? He said some phones will have difficulty with bluetooth pairing after some period of time if the battery is not removed periodically for about 20 seconds. Some phones once a week, others once a month, etc. I tried; did not work. Anyone know of this? A master rest was also recommended by SYNC support to remedy the pairing issue. Did not work. I have a service appt for Monday morning.

  17. Uuuuhhhh... yyyeeaaaaahhh. That's me awright.
  18. Very cool, Waldo. You got some apps ready to release, then? Fill us in. We wanna use your great wisdom.
  19. I found the Calendar early on. BFD! My wife's old (already sold and onto something new) Accord had a calendar that could actually be used! You could add a message for a given date, then upon starup on that date the car would recite the message. Pretty cool. What good, really is an unusable calendar?
  20. While I was waiting for my good Nav SD card to arrive, I was able to successfully listen to music on an 8GB SD card in the SD card slot. Now that I have Nav, that slot is no longer available for a music card, so I use a mini USB SD card reader and keep it plugged into one of the USB ports. Works great.
  21. Looking a bit more into this Microsoft thing, I found that soon an SDK will be available for developers to design and develop their own apps for SYNC. Now, Apple's got nothin' on us! With the available SYNC API's, mobile application developers will be able to do some of the following: Create a voice UI for your application using the in-vehicle speech recognition system. Write information to the radio head display or in-vehicle touchscreen Speak text using text-to-speech engine. Use the in-vehicle menu system to provide commands or options for your mobile application Get button presses from the radio and steering wheel controls. Receive vehicle data (speed, GPS location, fuel economy, etc.) The official API and full website launch is set to be targeted for later this year. Looks pretty cool. I won't say, but I already have some ideas brewin'. :ninja:
  22. There's your problem right there. :hysterical2:
