  1. My 2¢ Recv'd my package Tue (2 days ago). Just performed the update. Exactly 45 mins, no problems. Deleted orig Sync device from my phone's bluetooth settings during update. Re-paired afterward easily and fast. Download of phonebook was very fast. Process of adding quick dials was very responsive. I have nav, but have not looked at it yet. All in all, I like the new layout. I had my dog's pic as current wallpaper. Now that's my 4-corner home screen background. Nice. Updated syncmyride easily with no probs. So far, so good. Cannot wait to see if / how it handles the new iPad. Will tackle that later today. When I used my iPod Touch (4gen) with ~24GB music, it took forever to index. Same 24GB is on new iPad. Wonder if indexing will be any better with both devices having new software. The new iPad is overall much faster than the iPod Touch.
  2. I heard that the hardware for MFT includes a CPU and a separate graphics CPU - like a graphics card in desktops / laptops - has always been there. However, the graphics processor was never utilized. The main processor was doing all the MFT work AND all the nav + other graphics work. But now, with this performance upgrade, they have enabled the graphics CPU. (Why on earth it wasn't like that from day 1, I'll never know.) That in and of itself should make the entire system tons speedier.
  3. Hey, Chris. I had my dealer purchase the 3-piece primed grille while my Edge was on order. They had it painted and ready to install when my Edge was delivered. I never saw my Edge with its chrome grille. The three pieces were swapped, no problem. That's about it. Enjoy your new Edge!

  4. The latest info I have received regarding s/w levels is this In your System Information, you'll see a CCPU S/W 5-digit version no That should correspond to one of these part nos and s/w versions 10212 -AJ 1.8 10308 -BD 2.3 10337 -BE 2.4 11038 -BH 2.7 11063 -BJ 2.8 11081 -BL 2.10 (focus only) That's all I know
  5. Nope. Attaboys, Ford. Keep up the good work!
  6. Hate to start a thread for a temporary thing, but... ...word is the Ford Sync servers will be updated this weekend, 4/9-4/11. No dealer updates can be performed during this time and the syncmyride website will also be unavailable. (Let's hope they provide support for new browser versions). May be Tuesday before the site's available.
  7. ... they told me that I do not want this update! It apparently causes issues that make other features lock up... Nice. Add insult to injury. Now Ford's applying bad updates to bad code? Do they take anything seriously? Seriously. Does anyone there know what they're doing? I have run out of superlatives that even come close to defining what a cluster this has become.
  8. I found out Monday that yet another TSB (11-3-15) was issued for MFT updates last Friday, 3/11. While I'm in absolute full favor of code fixes and updates, what I cannot friggin' believe is that this is another one that MUST BE INSTALLED BY THE DEALER!! Why in the world has Ford designed a process for owner's to update software themselves, but yet the majority of code updates to date have required dealer installs? Huh? Why? I was waiting and checking syncmyride to see if this update became available for a self-install. Not yet. (Could be it doesn't or won't apply to my particular vehicle.) Does Ford think all owners have to do is drive back and forth to their dealer to get updates? Absolutely insane. No difference whatsoever than requiring an iPod be taken to an Apple store to get a version update. It's SOFTWARE, not a head gasket. Anyone know if BMW, Audi, Saab, Acura, Infiniti, any other automobile manufacurer requires multiple visits to dealers for software updates? Has this become the norm? Geez, Consumer Reports was right (but maybe not for the correct reason). If it's too complicated, rip the damn crap outa the car and go back to knobs and switches. I'm quickly losing patience and respect for anything MFT. Some 2011 Edge, MKX and Explorer vehicles equipped with MyFord Touch and MyLincoln Touch may experience various concerns in the following areas: Clock intermittently displays incorrect time, voice recognition, voice recognition when using SYNC services, phone pairing, USB device detection, Travel Link download time.
  9. Ford said last year that the SDK for developers would be available by year's end. Here's how that site has looked since December. Maybe if people had the tools, they could actually build something (not necessarily a browser, but other cool stuff).
  10. I have a 4th gen iPod Touch. Works fine using USB; haven't tried connecting via BT (keep my phone connected) or with video cables. Have ~ 17GB of music on it. Album art displays just fine.
  11. I was told by Ford CRC that the Status Checker needs to be installed (by user) ONLY if the user has problems reporting successful installs. It will remain in the list on the site even if you install it. (I presume to re-install if necessary)
  12. A full screen wallpaper is defined in the Manual as 800 x 378. So, if you cropped your 640 x 480, it would have to go down to 640 x 302 to play full screen without distortion. I haven't worked too much with videos to know how to crop 'em.
  13. Another self-reboot after 2.4  I had a route set yesterday. I received a Traffic notification that there is an incident on my route. The good thing is this is the first time this has happened and it's nice to see the Traffic notification app is working. I display details and select Avoid. Nothing. Did I press hard enough? (not going into that, now) Press Avoid again. Black screen. Reboot. Audio picks up (from USB conected iPod Touch) right where it left off. Route reinstated too. Had to reconnect phone manually. All Travel Link subs still working. Everything's been fine since.
  14. I have solved the mystery of the yellow i. Today, my i was still yellow, turning that color after toying around in some menus. Upon pressing the i, the Notifications tab of the Sync Services was selected - I must have left it on that tab yesterday. There was one Notification - I had changed a phone setting and the confirm was there. It dawned on me that exact moment - the i was yellow to signify a notification was available to view. Sure enough, upon deletion, the i returned to its normal white color.
  15. This is what happened to me shortly after I got BluEdge in late September. In mid October, my phone wouldn't pair and I got the split-second code display, then pairing failed. I spoke with Ford CRC and they told me to try a master reset (which didn't work) and if that didn't work, I needed a software "reflash" - basically a re-install of the original software. I got this done at the dealer on Nov 1 with less than 850 miles on the car. Before the car left the service bay, I was able to re-pair my phone and have had zero problems since then. There are some threads about this - check back to around the Oct/Nov timeframe.
  16. Geez, I hope you're using the new sarcasm font. You know that Sirius is a satellite subscription service, right? You need a clear view of the sky, just like GPS. Pardon me if you really are being sarcastic.
  17. I spoke a bit too soon. I just returned from running some errands. All my Travel Link subs are still working. So I got that goin' for me. I played with a few settings menus before I turned the car off when I got home - some menus I had not been in since installing the 2.3 and 2.4 updates. Just as I was about to shut the car off, I noticed the i is now a bright yellow! So I got that goin' for me as well.
  18. Mine's still white, too. I was able to successfully install the 2.4 update and all the Travel Link subs are still subscribed and working. So far, so good.
  19. I just got home from the dealer. Got there at 9am, car was ready around 1pm. (They also replaced the rear hatch blue oval. More on that later.) Received the 2.3 update. While I haven't been having the troubles as most, I have had 1 "system maintenance" episode, only 3 of 8 Travel Link subscriptions from the start and the rear hatch has opened by itself 3 times. The second time that occurred, my wife came home and of course not knowing there was anything wrong, attempted to open the garage door. It hit "something" and closed. She did this a couple times before I could investigate. The hatch being opened caused the garage door to scratch the crap out of the rear Ford emblem. (Replaced as a warranty item, btw.) I checked out everything before I left the dealer and all seemed OK. Ambient light colors were fine, nothing seemed missing (Ford CRC had told me that if an update is done incorrectly, things like Vehicle Health Report sometimes just vanishes.) And... all my Travel Link subs were listed as "subscribed." Yippee! They all had hourglass icons and upon selection, said accessing information... may take a while. Turned the car off, finished up with the dealer and tested some more. I see sports scores, ski reports. All good. Turn off. Restart the car and now 6 of 8 Travel Link subs are "unsubscribed." wtf? Off again and one more restart and all seems good. I'll have to see how that goes. I spoke with the tech afterwards. He did have trouble getting the update to take. He briefly stated his process: download from Ford to a flash drive, then through a connected laptop, install. He had to contact Ford tech support and together they managed to get the full update completed. He also said every Edge he's updated with 2.3 has had similar problems, but each finally got updated successfully. He also tried to apply the 2.4 update and could not get it to take. I'll try that tomorrow. Before I left the dealer, I logged onto syncmyride and saw that I had 2.3 with 2.4 ready for download.
  20. That's waay too much to pay. I had my salesguy purchase the primed ready-to-paint 3-piece grille inserts while my car was on order. The dealer's body shop painted 'em body color and installed 'em before I took possession. All total ~$200.I also have the original chrome pieces to return at end-o'-lease or, if the dealer doesn't want 'em then, I'll sell 'em.
  21. I bought this for my previous vehicle and it works great in my 2011 Edge. I assume the back seats are similar / same in the MKX.
  22. When I can't wash it myself and it needs washing badly, I take BluEdge to a local handwash. Been taking my cars there for years - they do a great job. First come, first serve. Line up for exterior and/or interior wash. I got there yesterday morning and pulled in behind a brand new 2011 Explorer. First one I've seen on the road. Still had a dealer tag. I go inside to wait. Soon, one of the detail guys tells the auto spa owner that they had inadvertantly locked the Explorer while washing it. (Remember, press 7/8 + 9/0 simutaneously?) The owner was informed; he went to the car, but it was obvious he didn't either 1) know the factory default code or 2) set his own code. His key was inside (not sure if it was Intelligent or not). So, there's BluEdge behind the dead Explorer unable to move up to get washed and plenty of cars now behind it. The carwash owner takes off with the Explorer owner to get a second key. Meanwhile, one-by-one starting with mine, cars were shuffled in front of the Explorer so they can get washed without too much holdup. I left before the guys got back. I was gonna ask the guy why doesn't he call Ford support (not sure if he would've gotten a response on Saturday, anyway). The dealer was a couple miles up the street (I could tell by the tag). Wonder if they would've told him the factory default. So, let this be a lesson to ya! Set - and remember - your code! edit: Isn't Ford supposed to implement unlocking thru Sync support at some point? Like OnStar? Not sure how this Explorer was equipped, but sure would've made things easier.
  23. some Edge (or Ford in general) acronyms... Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) Audio Control Module (ACM) Front Controls Interface Module (FCIM) Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) Front Control/Display Interface Module (FCDIM) Global Positioning System Module (GPSM) Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC)
  24. I played around with this just a little and could not get it to work. See what you get. Audio Systems With Touchscreen 1. Turn the ACM on. 2. Operate the audio system in radio tuner (AM/FM) mode. 3. Press and hold the seek up button and the eject button at the same time until the speaker walk-around test begins. • The display indicates each speaker as it is tested. 4. NOTE: If the speaker walk-around test is the only test required, this procedure can be stopped after Step 3 by turning the ACM off, or by selecting Exit using the touch screen menu.
