  1. Ah, the Termination Dust is falling. What a great feeling in the air. I spent an August many moons ago in Alaska. I had a buddy stationed in the Air Force in Anchorage, lived in Eagle River and had a great visit. We saw termination dust by mid- to late- August. I would love to see the area sometime in full blown winter. Absolutely gorgeous. One of my favorite places.
  2. If you drive an Edge that does not have AWD, you get FWD... not RWD. That's a consideration. Just sayin'.
  3. I did not realize that Homelink was not available on the Sport. Just another reason to get a Limited, IMHO. I got a Limited because: 1) 22s just a little too big - and profile too small; 2) no HIDs; 3) black interior only color available; 4) oval exhaust tips - just do not like; 5) lower body molding - a bit overkill; 6) last vehicle had sport suspension, was ready for quieter, smoother ride; 7) incremental hp from 3.5L to 3.7L not worth the price. I would love to have the paddle shifters, though. And I would rather have the black beltline trim instead of chrome. I took care of the front chrome. I like my Limited. But hey! People get different rides for different reasons. That's why they make so many. :party:
  4. Points off for not reading your manual!!! p 138 mentions this To help make the vehicle as comfortable as possible, the engine idle can be increased during a remote start. You can enable or disable engine idle increase by selecting Remote Start Quiet in the message center. Refer to Message center in the Instrument Cluster chapter.
  5. I did. My salesguy gave me his price for the 3 grille insert pieces (purchased as one item) - around $100. The dealer had 'em painted body color prior to BluEdge's delivery. Painting and installing was another $100. Check my sig for pic. You're ordering black. If you want a matte finish grille, you may be able to swap for a Sport grille. That would mean a Sport would be left without one - or get your chrome. That would be up to you and the dealer.
  6. I could absolutely KICK myself! :banghead: BluEdge has been at the dealer since Saturday. I've been driving a piece-o'-crap loaner. If you've read my previous posts, the Edge didn't recognize the brand new Nav SD card delivered with it from the factory. The dealer has been back-n-forth with Ford troubleshooting the reason. They tore the console apart (glad I wasn't there to see that) after software updates didn't fix the problem. Finally, FINALLY!!, Ford asks them if anyone there had an SD card with music on it. Of course, it recognized that just fine. I was gonna do that!! But for whatever reason, I didn't. Damn. I'm sofa king stupid. It coulda been fixed four days ago! And I have SD cards with music on 'em right here! After that, Ford of course is sending a new card (to the dealer) which will then be sent to me. BluEdge will be driven back home tomorrow morning. Lesson learned.
  7. What we all need here is a little triangle-shaped cap that can snap over the hazard button. It can't be too thick, though. When you must use it, just snap it off and press - like a "Break Glass In Case of Emergency" case. Who can make one of those? I'd pay... hhmmm... 5 bucks for one.
  8. After using zymöl, I will never use another wax, sealant, polymer, anything again. It's great stuff.
  9. BluEdge isn't coming home today. The update apparently did not work. They are having trouble getting Ford to send a new SD card. Did I mention ?
  10. Sorry... what I meant was the MKX has cooled seats. The Edge does not. Some Edges (mine does) have heated seats.
  11. Sorry, no, I don't think so. MKXs have heated steering wheels. Edges do not. (They also have heated + cooled seats, which the Edge does not.)
  12. At the dealer last Tue when I picked up my Edge, it wouldn't recognize the Nav SD card. I inserted it and the msg said "Please insert a valid Nav SD card." We popped it out and re-inserted a couple times, but the same. My salesguy started writing a warranty item for a bad SD card. Hopefully Ford would just send a replacement directly to me. But Wed he called and Ford is requiring the dealer to attempt a sofware update in the car before they replace the card. Since I couldn't get away during the week, we arranged for a Sat service. In the meantime, Fri there was a Ford rep at the dealer driving a pre-prod Explorer (drives from dealer to dealer providing training; did similar with a new Edge several months ago). My salesguy asked him he had seen the problem not recognizing the SD card. He had! And he said sometimes all it takes was to keep trying to pop it out and re-insert it... it may eventually work. We had tried that a couple times, but nothing. Sat, the tech 1) had no luck re-inserting either; 2) had no luck with the software update. Since this is all new tech to dealers, he needed some support from Ford tech -- but that's not available on Saturdays. [Editorial comment: if most dealers' service is available on Saturdays, why doesn't Ford support them? Huh?] So I drove home a loaner (my purchasing dealer is 50 miles away), hope to have the software update applied and the Nav system working today, then my car driven to me later this afternoon.Damn. The first weekend I could spend some quality time in it and I don't have it.
  13. isn't there only one SD card slot? Yep need to leave the Nav SD card inserted to work? Yep music off my mac on to a SD card without having to buy a card reader? Nope I think a better way to go would be a USB flash drive. There's two of those inputs.
  14. I was wondering the same. No max distance is in any of the manuals. This document from Ford's media site is the only place I saw a distance of 300ft.
  15. Ford had supplier issues with the headrest units and decided to discontinue them as an OEM option.
  16. I negotiated a price when I ordered my Edge. I also discussed leasing with my salesguy. The first quarter of the 2011 Edge production's residuals are very high. (Good for consumer) That is expected to change Oct 1 when the new numbers come out. So, although I (or any buyer) basically said I'll take this car under these conditions, the conditions are subject to change by the time of delivery. We put the order in with the hope that I could take delivery by 10/1 to take advantage of the good residual (and rate). I did get my Edge this month, so that point ended up being moot. He also told me that Ford is one manufacturer (not sure who else) that will not commit to a price / deal at time of order. Dealers have been asking Ford forever to do this. It's not fair to the customer. Good luck getting a commitment from the dealer on a deal at time of order.
  17. I tried to create an account on Sirius with the ESN. Said it was already in use. So I called. Asked about the 5 out of 8 services that showed "Unsubscribed." After a couple of signals and the car still showing Unsubscribed, I was told that I have everything Sirius has to offer. I have not tried Travel Link or any of the other stuff (Maps, Sports, etc). I did see the NHL, etc contained in the Best of XM upgrade. So I got that goin' for me.
  18. Hey, last car I ordered, I was promised 90 days. Turned into 120! I waited exactly 4 months for that Infiniti. I ordered BluEdge on 7/23 and took delivery 9/21 - 60 days. It would've been less had the train it was on not broken down. :wacko:

  20. I don't see anything about having your lights on anywhere. Where exactly did you see that? Got page no? In Owner's manual? or Sync supplement?
  21. NOT! The book sux. I read it online a couple times already between ordering and delivery. Can you find it in there? Thanks for the great advice.
  22. Question about the Ambient Lighting... Is it supposed to be on while driving? I assumed so. Sitting in the car with the engine on at the dealer, we were checking things out. We set a color and raised the level to max. It was so sunny out we couldn't see anything; we figured I'd see it later. But later, I never saw it until I shut the engine off. I thought the whole point was "Ambiance."
  23. Ya know... I never noticed. I DO NOT have that listed on my sticker. So I assume it wasn't installed on my original chrome grille piece. And I was correct about hearing my salesguy say he hadn't seen one.
  24. About that "bad SD card"... may not be a bad card, but an internal software error. Before Ford will take the card back & send a replacement, we have to try an update first. So I gotta take BluEdge in Saturday & hook her up to the 'puter and see what happens...
