  1. Congrats on the ride man! The colour is cool. Needs the sun to make it pop, just like the black does really. I had a helluva time with the adhesive too. I ended up using solvent to remove it. I think I spent 12 hours doing mine up after I got it. You should look into Opti Coat for the paint, trim, glass and wheels. It is the best coating (sealant does not give it credit: it's a permanent coating) option money can buy! I do not sell it, but use it in my detailing business: http://optimumforums.org/index.php?app=nexus&module=payments&section=store&do=item&id=67
  2. Joe, that's good. It doesn't sound like they're trying to blow any smoke up your ass anyway. Looking forward to seeing what the "fix" will be to this one!
  3. I'm wondering if opening a window a few inches would accomplish the same thing?
  4. Nice job indeed! 800 grit? Yikes! You're lucky you didn't go through the clear although you said you'd shoot it with more clear anyway. Good thing you didn't have to. Again, nice save.
  5. I think they were ST's. I got them about 6 years ago so I don't remember exactly. They did do very well on dry pavement if you were pushing them through an onramp or something. I just found a lot of tire noise from them when driving.
  6. Congrats on your new ride. I love the colour!
  7. Joe, I am very, very sorry to hear about your loss!! You've got lots of friends on this forum if you want to talk. God Speed my friend.
  8. Andy, I had Proxies on my FX35 and hated them. They were noisy and not very good in wet weather. I hope they've improved them since then. What I did like about them is that the lip of the tire protruded from the rim which protected them. They looked amazing, but the actually performance of them was a letdown for me.
  9. Hey bud, just a suggestion, but why don't you try having it on both floor and feet at first to double the air vents to get more a/c into the cabin? I hope that works for you.
  10. Your buddy's got his head up his ass if he thinks 50 ft/lb's is an appropriate setting. It's 100 as noted above, and it's a huge safety concern to have it done properly. The other thing is you should tighten them one across from each other to even out the force on the rim. I've been doing it myself (rotating the tires) for years and it's simple. Make sure you do it safely with jack stands. Mark the tires so they go in the proper (rotated) place next winter. Use white chalk. The TPM's will reset as mentioned.
  11. I'm out of town till Saturday, but when I return, I think I'm gonna do the download from Sync my ride and just wait for the Nav SD card. I may call the dealer just to see if they have any in stock.
  12. Whatever you do, NEVER use the brush that is there. People do unspeakable acts with them. That's the last thing you want touching your paint. If your goal is to remove the salt, use water. The soap in those places is usually very high in alkaline content and will strip any wax off the surface. Do a thorough rinse until such time you can do a proper wash with a decent soap. You might look into Optimum's ONR. It's a rinseless wash product which is just awesome. They have a new version just out. Check it out: http://optimumforums.org/index.php?app=nexus&module=payments&section=store&do=item&id=2
  13. This is very, very bad news if this is still happening AFTER the update!! We were all hoping that problem would have vanished.
  14. The above responses are spot-on! They're called PDR or paintless dent repair guys. They are (or can be) magicians. Ask your used car manager at your dealership: I guarantee he uses one! Only use body work as a last resort.
  15. Badger, congrats on your new ride!! My MKX is black/black. I used CQuartz on my ride and highly recommend it. I do not sell it BTW. Edgieguy does, so you can contact him if you're interested. Here is a link to when I detailed my MKX after getting it and coating it with the CQ: http://www.live2detail.com/showthread.php?t=971 I have the same user name on L2D as here. If you want to know about anything to do with detailing, L2D is your place. We are the only detailing forum not owned by a company or a website selling supplies. You'll get honest feedback to your questions. Opti Coat is another amazing nano coating product. There are youtube videos on both products you can check out. I have a few on my channel as well. The black colour is gorgeous when it's in the sun.
  16. You know, I gotta say, I completely agree with you on the redial # showing!!
  17. There's been some great info in this thread! There have been other threads which have listed online dealers who sell the warranties far cheaper than what the selling dealers usually want to. You can use the info to keep them honest (and get it included in your monthlies and at a lower rate) or tell them to shove it and get it at the online site.
  18. Dingo, I sent you a question about these units.
  19. Here's another one: http://www.pwmall.com/p-139257-14_0263-professional-foam-lance-w-34oz-bottle-sprays-up-to-20-adjustable.aspx
  20. Ya, forgot to mention what soap. I use Duragloss 901 which you can buy locally.
  21. Wow, it looks like you've received some great responses here. The EB technology is "have your cake and eat it too" happiness. With the torque it provides, the load of camping gear will be no issue and you'll be rewarded with great mileage at all other times. Plus, as mentioned, you really can't compare the 2 vehicles: the CRV is simply out of its league by comparison.

  23. Paul, you've done your homework; ONR is a fantastic product. BTW, there's a new version just out now. Optimum is selling it on their site with some free bonus if I recall. When I do ONR, I use mf towels (long nap ones at that) and when I've done a panel or two, I wring out the mf very well and dry it with that. Then I use my waffle weave drying towel after that. You wouldn't believe how much of a time saver it is for your drying step and you will only use one ww for the whole car. Try it that way next time and let me know what you think!
