  1. These are all steps in the right direction. Now if they would only get the updated software out to us sooner than later. I'm starting to think they've learned how to speak like politicians with their definition of soon!
  2. Mine always go back to where I left off. The right one is always on climate and I usually leave the left one on the MPG calculator. Sometimes that one goes back to the display, but the right one always stays put.
  3. I'd rather disconnect the battery than risk dropping the damned fuse down somewhere I couldn't get at!
  4. Joe, you and I have conflicting advice. One day when I was driving to work I got the black screen of death. I was not able to bring it in to the dealer so they sent a tech out to my work to look at it. He disconnected the negative lead and left it off for a minute or two (maybe longer, I don't remember). I wrote down what he did in case I needed to do it again on my own. After reading your post, I called the dealer and spoke to a employee who went and asked the same tech which lead it was. He confirmed it was negative. Can you double check with your dealer?
  5. Man, I don't want to rain on your parade, but let me tell you something about dealership offered products: They are there for profit, not for performance. My father was a GM dealer for 25 years and I worked there full time in sales for almost 8 years myself. I am a professional detailer on the side as well, so I am very, very familiar with what products work and what don't. The Dealer systems require you to re-attend once a year to reapply them to be effective and to keep the so-called warranty intact. Most people don't bother. If you are truly interested in learning about how to properly protect your investment and use the best quality products to protect both inside and out, then my advice to you is to join some detailing forums. I help run Live2Detail which is the only detailing forum out there that is privately owned and not influenced whatsoever by a manufuacturer. Several members from here have joined and have learned a ton. Autogeek is a huge one with many varying opinions from many different "experts". they seem only interested in peddling the newest products. DetailingBliss is another one that is also run by an online store. There are others too. Optimum's Opti Coat is a permanent coating that cannot be beat by any other product out there. I know that is a bold claim, but it's true. Ultima's Interior Trim Guard is an awesome protectant for the inside. These 2 products will get you going. Once you get doing this yourself, you'll discover the joy of maintaining the finish yourself. Hope that helps.
  6. I have 2 potential solutions to this problem: 1) Crank the radio 2) Have extended warranty. Seriously, I haven't heard it on mine, am I pretty tuned in to what's going on in my vehicles. Not saying it isn't there, but if it is on mine, I don't hear it. Thanks for providing a solution!!
  7. I went to the NAIAS. The new MKZ looks cool in person. The waterfall grille now has horizontal slats vs the vertical ones. It has a cleaner look. I'm assuming MKX will follow suit. I went with my dad and was showing him how the Sync commands worked as most of the cars were operational in that regard. I passed on a few of my suggestions as to improving the MKX while I was there, such as having the rear doors open farther and whatnot. The Ford display was well done. Check out the Mustang with the 2 way exhaust with cutouts that exit under the doors: Very Cool!!
  8. Try disconnecting your negative battery cable for a minute and then hook it back up. Worked for me.
  9. The Dr Color Chip system is amazing.

    Real Carbon Fiber!

I didn't see your camera thread. Got a link? I'm using a Nikon D3000 and have 3 lenses for it.
  11. Folks, be very careful placing items that can be propelled in a collision. Newton's 1st doesn't like to be messed with.
  12. I had my iphone connected to my stereo in the garage the other day and my wife took my MKX to do an errand and all of a sudden my iphone stopped broadcasting and I was like "WTF?" and then I realized it had sync'd and had cut out. It was doing what it was supposed to, LOL.

Surgery is a bitch. I had my left knee replaced 2 years ago and it is buggered up. I walk with a limp now and use a cane if I need to go long distances. Hope your surgery goes well Dingo!
  14. I'd make a big stink about having to pay return shipping. Tell them you'll hire a lawyer to sue them for your labour costs, etc. The squeaky wheel always gets the grease. Keep going up their company ladder till you get the answer you want!
  15. I don't think you'll have a problem waiting till Spring, but you'll want to get it done sooner than later. Did you look up eshine?
  16. Joe, Glad to hear you've got a competent dealer working on your behalf. This thread clearly shows the difference between dealer's service departments who are great or like what fastman is dealing with: either stupid or inept.
  17. No, you're outta their league. eshine is a great Canadian distributor for good quality detailing supplies: http://www.eshine.ca/carpro_ironx_wsprayer169oz-5407.php
  18. You need a solvent to remove the glue residue. Here's what I did on mine: http://www.live2detail.com/showthread.php?t=971
  19. AXCL, that is a great description. I should have given a better explanation but I was typing on my iphone at the time which I don't like doing. The clay will just shear off the top whereas the IronX will dissolve it as you say. For an owner of a white vehicle, this is a must have!
  20. That or Folex from Home Depot. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH HEADLINERS!! You can cause the glue to fail if you use too strong a soap.
  21. I am a professional detailer. There are levels of protection from OK to incredible: Wax. Looks good, lasts about a month usually. Sealant. Better durability. Depending on which one, can look plasticky. Nano Coatings. Newest technology. Permanent coating. Optimum's Opti Guard (professional version) is probably the best. Read up on Live2Detail.com for more info. There is nothing better for your paint. Period.
  22. I want the rear doors to open wider. It's really tough buckling the kids in.
  23. Her response was PRICELESS!! She MUST work for Ford too!!! LMAO, thanks for posting!
