  1. Good for you!!! ONR will be your best friend. I use it when my car is clean but I got some bugs on the front. Let your bug sponge soak in the ONR and then have at it. The added lubricity of the ONR is great and the bugs come right off.
  2. Thanks for the clarification. I never drive in stop and go, so that makes sense.
  3. Gosh, Katherine, that would be scary! I turned off mine. I admit I'm an aggressive driver, and the system obviously hates my driving as it would flash on me if I was closing in on a car but would be going around it. I am much happier now that it is off.
  4. Glen, if you have CQ and ReLoad on their prior to the trip then the surface will be as protected as it can be. The key with bugs is to get them off quickly as their little bastard bodies are acidic and eat into the paint. Find yourself a coin op car wash and blast it off with water or soap. The other thing is take a small bucket and some ONR (Optimum No Rinse) and a bug sponge for any that do not come off that way, although they probably will. If you haven't got any ONR yet, do it! It will amaze you. IT's one of my all time favourite products. Get yourself a bug sponge too. Here's the one I have: http://www.autogeek.net/pinsafscrub.html
  5. I've supplied a link to the one I have. It is coarse enough (it HAS to be wet) that it scrapes away the bugs but it does NOT scratch. I was very, very leery at first using one but I have had mine for years and have used it on 100's of cars. It is an amazing tool. The other thing I do is that if the Lincoln just has some bugs across the front, i soak the b.s in ONR (Optimum No Rinse) and clean the area that way. It does a great job and you just wipe it dry afterward...that's if the rest of the car is still clean so you don't have to bother washing the whole thing. (Join us at Live2detail.com....you'll learn a ton about washing/detailing) http://www.autogeek....insafscrub.html
  6. They're damned lucky I'm not a Ford engineer. I'd program it so that if you told it to f(ck off, it would respond with a New Jersey Italian accent (like on the Sopranos) with "No, YOU f*ck off". Can you imagine the look on the driver's face????
  7. What's the tranny bump/klunk issue? BTW, I have been in the habit of using the parking brake for years so it's just 2nd nature to me.
  8. LMFAO at that! I'm glad I'm not the only one to do that! Seriously though, my MKX has been amazing for the most part. I posted here before that sometimes it doesn't recognize my iphone but if I hit the voice command to make a call, it finds it then. It's been able to do that a few times. So don't panick if it doesn't recognize your phone right away.
  9. I've heard about them too but have never tried them. I have a bug sponge from Autogeek that works very well.
  10. Hotlap, I agree with you. I am 46 and came out of a 2004 FX35. My MKX has more luxury features in it than the FX did (mind you it was 7 years old) and is faster. I like the style and don't consider it an old man's car. The Lincoln Town Car: absolutely. Old men would shit their pants at all the electronics in an MKX for starters.
  11. It wants you to put in a CD, eh? Prolly wants to hear Celine Dion, LOL. Seriously, it should be right in the main menu. I can't see needing a CD or anthing, but mine is an 11.
  12. Glad you found it. I know it's on mine; I was going to look it up in the manual for ya.
  13. It was doing that to me when I had the autolock feature turned on and I didn't like it so I turned it off.
  14. My MKX has 10,000 km on it now and I'm thinking it might be time to rotate the tires. The maintenance schedule in the owner's manual is a joke. There are little dots in a table representing when things are to be done, however, there is NO explanation of the frequency of it. So, my question is: How often should one rotate the tires? I always did it at 10K for my Infiniti; I'm thinking this would be the same.
  15. Sorry to take so long to get back to you. I have been using Zep Citrus for an APC for about 2 years now. It is great for cleaning wheels, wells, etc. It is available at Home Depot by the gallon for about $12. You dilute it 4:1 (water:product). I also recommend Zep purple degreaser for tires. It too can be diluted 4:1. I find it draws the brown crap (technical term, LOL) out of the tires better. Both products work very well and are cheap and are available locally. The bottle says do not use on paint. Ignore it. Trust me on that. I have recommended it to hundreds of people. Zep products in general are really good.
  16. They still do have the lifetime. I signed up for it about a month ago or so.
  17. I'm 5'11" and drive an MKX. I don't have any issue with the right leg but to the left foot. It seems crowded in. I wish I could put it more straight forward. Not a big deal for me though. I actually find the MKX very comfortable.
  18. Frankly, I would not do that! Use an APC if they're filthy and follow it up with the product I mentioned above or something like Collinite metal wax or a good sealant.
  19. To get wax off the trim, use a magic eraser and a strong APC like Zep Citrus. Also, wax is not bad for chrome, in fact, it's good for it!! So are sealants. Collinite makes a metal wax that just rocks!
  20. Hey, since you're not telling your gender, we're not answering your question.....hahaha...just kidding. I use Zep Citrus cut with 4 parts of water; 1 part of ZC in a spray bottle for the wheels. It is strong enough to cut brake dust. Go to Home Depot and you can get it by the gallon. You can use it on the tires too although I prefer Zep Purple degreaser (same ratio) for that job. (I do professional detailing on the side). I would then advise to go to Carquest and pick up some Duragloss 105 sealant. Seal your wheels with that after cleaning them. As far as tire shine goes, Meguiars Endurance is not bad for OTC. BTW, you need to check out Autogeek.net for detailing supplies. Their site will blow your mind with the selection. You should join a detailing forum too, there's a ton of great info on them (almost too much sometimes). Autogeek has one and I help run one called Live2Detail.com. Hope to see you there.
  21. I've been playing with some different products trying to see what would polish the plastic chrome without scratching it and also keeping it looking shiny for more than a day or 2. P21s polishing soap is what is working for me. I still use an APC to clean them first and then go over them with the sponge and the P21s on it and then rinse that off. The chrome looks amazing and seems to keep better too. It is available at different places: In the US: http://www.autogeek.net/p153.html In Canada: http://www.eshine.ca/p21s_polishing_soap-1708.php
  22. Thomas, 3 things...1) Approx how long did it take for this initialization process to transpire? 2) Where do you lubricate the track? 3) With what lubricant? Thanks. Hopefully some preventative maintenance and knowing this procedure will help! And thank you for posting it too!!
  23. Can you PM me your email and pics and pricing. Do you know if those would fit an MKX with 20's?
