  1. What year? MFT or sync 3? Sync 3 doesn't use sd cards. MFT does but unless the vehicle came with nav from the factory adding the card won't work without replacing the apim. Sirius gives you turn by turn directions instead of a map. Or just use your smartphone for free.
  2. Recommended to prevent battery drain avoid the 10 minute shutdown but not an absolute requirement.
  3. Makes no sense that you can't turn off the hands free liftgate functionality. Especially when using the hitch.
  4. I've heard that thicker oil can interfere with the VVT system. Probably not a big deal but I would switch back to 5W20 just to be safe.
  5. That's not the correct oil. You need 5W20 (or whatever the owner's manual says - pretty sure it's 5W20).
  6. Is it specific to the Edge or is it just a generic filter that fits anything?
  7. For $60 it's probably worth a shot. I wonder what Factory authorized really means in this context? Probably just means they paid Ford a marketing fee.
  8. How would you know it's accurate?
  9. Ok guys I see your point so I do apologize. That's still no excuse for a GFY though.
  10. Whatever your opinion of me, personal attacks won't be tolerated.
  11. In my experience it's 80% just being lazy and wanting someone else to do the research and 20% did a search but did not find the answer. It takes less time to do a quick google search or search the online manual pdf than it does to log in here and post a question which might not be answered for several hours or days.
  12. For some reason people think it's easier to just ask a question and wait for someone else to do the research for them rather than take a few minutes to search themselves. I don't get it.
  13. Heavier wheels would probably dictate heavier springs but I don't know if the OEM sport wheels are that much heavier so it's hard to say. Same for shocks. The problem is you don't really know how those stock parts will perform with your non-stock wheels. Ford goes to a lot of trouble to match the OEM setups so you get a consistent feel whether you have 18s, 19s, 20s or 22s. Just changing one piece of the puzzle can yield bad results.
  14. Does seem excessive just based on wheels. When you let off the gas does it coast normally or does it slow down quickly?
  15. Haven't heard any updates but since it simply plugs into the obd-ii port it should be completely portable.
  16. But you don't have to pay $7k for a new engine. A good used engine is probably $4K. Or you ditch the vehicle and get a new one. But you're correct that it all comes down to how lucky you feel and your risk comfort level.
  17. Sledge, ball peen or framing?
  18. I hate to beleaguer the point, but the difference is if your home burned down you probably can't afford to pay for the replacement out of pocket. Or pay $100K in medical bills. Likewise having auto insurance. But the most you would ever have to pay for repairs on a vehicle is a few thousand dollars. Above that and you would just get rid of it. I see 4 types of owners: Fixed income or otherwise cannot afford a large repair bill - finance the warranty with the vehicle so you only pay a small amount each month Gambler - thinks the cost will be outweighed by the repairs on that particular vehicle Can afford a large repair bill but would rather pay a certain amount up front and avoid surprises even if it costs more in the long run Can afford a large repair bill and is looking for the lowest cost over time (on average and over a large number of vehicles)
  19. Brakes are covered for the first 12 months/12K miles IIRC.
  20. Something is wrong and it isn't the tire size. Perhaps something is rubbing somewhere.
