It's in the owner's manual. Did you try getting the service manager to specifically request reimbursement for the 5 coils they did not replace? If not make sure you try that first. I've found lots of cases where the dealer says Ford won't do something and it turns out they either didn't ask or didn't provide the right information. You can also post on Ford's facebook or other social media sites where Ford reps will help.

IF Ford only replaced one coil then they should reimburse you for the cost of the other 5 since the TSB says for the dealer to replace all 6. If they did replace all 6 themselves then you're SOL.
-
So how many coils did you buy exactly and what happened to them? Are they still good or did they burn out again? I'm not following that piece exactly. I think you need to let Ford replace the PCM and any currently bad coils, then worry about whether you can get any other reimbursement. If you replaced the coils and the pcm fried the new ones because the PCM wasn't replaced that's not Ford's fault.

Adding Navigation to non Nav MFT
akirby replied to Dice213's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
This is what I meant by "it's just a Garmin wired into the touch screen". You don't get any of the integration. It even has a separate speaker. The best solution would be to allow a phone app to use the screen with an API that allows MFT control - just like the native navigation app. But given how difficult it's been to get phone mfrs/providers to support text messaging I'm not sure that would work. And the auto mfrs might not want to give up that revenue either. -
Adding Navigation to non Nav MFT

What I meant was you could buy a Garmin for less than half of the cost of the kit and it's portable. It won't integrate into the vehicle other than the display. -
Keep pushing. I've heard cases where Ford did pay for reimbursement but I don't know the details.
-
There was supposed to be a built-in browser and maybe some other features that would use the wifi connection but those got usurped by bug fixes. As it is there isn't any use for it since the devices that could connect to the vehicle's hotspot could also just as easily connect to the wifi source directly too.

Adding Navigation to non Nav MFT
akirby replied to Dice213's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Wow. That should work but that's a lot of hacking and in the end it's still just a Garmin. And it's not portable to another vehicle. -
The only issue is which parts they would have had to replace if the work had been done by Ford in the first place and what would it have cost. They should have no problem paying for that amount and honestly that's all they should be paying for.

buying a 2013 Ford Edge? or not?...Please Help!!
akirby replied to RN0423's topic in Owner Impressions
Give MFT a test drive. If you like it then get it. It's very stable now as of the latest software without the freezes and reboots of the previous versions. That said some don't like the ergonomics. -
2011 Edge/MKX My Touch and Sync Problems

You'll have to retype it. -
Fixed it. Thanks. It works if you type it into the browser without the www but not in a link apparently.

Probably, but maybe not the first year. It just depends on resource availability. Based on the overall length and width I don't expect a big change in interior room or cargo room. I think it's an illusion.

Try 09-23-5

This is the production version except for small tweaks like door handles, mirrors and lighting.

Welcome Antonio! I should warn you we have a few members who are not so enamored with MFT (you know who you are). Members - please be respectful. Constructive criticism is fine if presented politely, but don't turn this into a gripe session.

Sounds like a bug more than a feature. -
Adding Navigation to non Nav MFT

Yeah - $1400 AND potentially illegal or not permanent is ridiculous. Just buy a tom-tom. -
That might be a concept only feature.

Or pretty much any other midsized crossover.......

Adding Navigation to non Nav MFT
akirby replied to Dice213's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
You have the module but that module doesn't have the nav software and it doesn't have the flag that says it's supposed to have it. I'm not sure what they're doing to convert it but whatever it is I don't think it's legal, even if it works. And you probably wouldn't be able to update it afterwards. Run away! -
More likely they tapped into that circuit for the alarm controller and the controller is drawing the current. See if you can disconnect the controller without removing the fuse. The brake sensor would just be a monitor anyway - it wouldn't be drawing current.

What does google have to do with a recall?

As usual you oversimplify and overdramatize everything. You're going bananas because you have to press a few buttons twice a year instead of one button. And there is a huge huge difference between a cell phone and MFT. Cell phones are in constant contact with a local tower and the tower knows where it's at and knows the current local time. And the software can be changed at any time. These aren't excuses - they're just realistic explanations about decisions that Ford makes with their software. The only part I objected to was your assertation that it was easy to automatically do DST. Your other gripes are legitimate even if they're overly dramatized.
