  1. Edge Out, I agree with the other poster's here on this one. Get your insurance involved, and make both insurers aware of the issues. You have the right. A door closing properly is kind of a basic safety necessity, as well as an operational necessity. Although a misaligned door can be remedied simply, it is likely, as another poster stated, the sign of something bigger. I haven't had any major accidents (very fortunate), but family and friends have. Among my family and friends, we all use the same body shop and the owner would never deliver a car back to a customer like that. However, I am happy to hear the Edge protected you and your family.
  2. The USB doesn't always display an "indexing" message on start up for me, but that's basically one of the two things it's doing from my perspective (initializing, then quick indexing/allocation table). I experience similar circumstances with my Aftermarket USB radio in my Xterra, so it doesn't bother me.
  3. Not to disagree with akirby: my friend has a 2007 Mercury Mariner V6 w/ AWD (an Escape basically), and he's averaging the same mileage as I do in my 2011 Edge AWD. I think it depends on Motor and Drivetrain (4 cylinder likely to get better mileage)
  4. I must have missed something. I read on another topic that the Self-Install was coming. Is it a different version, wilsons66604?
  5. Scorpio, best of luck with your new Edge! One point of advice: use smaller flash drives. I have a 16GB that I use, and it takes a bit of time on start-up for the system to index the music. If you leave the USB radio on, turn off the car, then return and turn on the car, it will switch to another source, which can be annoying if it's a static-filled radio station. I really love my 2011 Limited. Best of luck to you.
  6. I just upgraded from SYNC 2.4 to SYNC 2.11 at Route 23 Auto Mall (where I purchased). It was painless, and I enjoy the upgrade. My suggestion to OP is to find a better service department.
  7. There's a TSB on the PTU for the Edge. I would look into that. Replacing the throttle body would have been a good approach if your car was simple surging now and then (Ford's have a throttle over-hang for emissions purposes), but if the AWD warning is coming up, I'd think they'd investigate the PTU and the ECM first.
  8. Thanks Spooki11. I am getting this USB skipping time to time. Not driving me nuts, but I figure I'll get it fixed.
  9. Interesting Point. So essentially people filling up the tires with Nitrogen are paying a premium for a 20-22% difference, and may never see any benefit. I used to be a supervisor at a store that sold balloons. We would fill wall displays with Nitrogen since it wouldn't leak like compressed air or, more importantly, compressed helium. But the cost was significantly higher and we didn't have 1 quarter of a 4200lbs vehicle on the balloon. Considering all the factors, I don't see the benefit of utilizing nitrogen. Although to be honest, I had never considered it until reading this topic.
  10. I agree with Akirby, checking the tires routinely with a pressure gauge is a must. TPMS can fail, and from my experience most don't respond until there is a drastic variation. IF the tire stays too low for too long, it can be hazardous, consume more fuel, and possible effect the condition of the tire.
  11. Spooki11, can you link to the TSB or check the number? I cannot find it. I am curious. I had the USB skipping issue a few days ago. It came and went, and everything is working now. I'm one of the few still riding around with Sync 2.4, so I was considering upgrading to 2.11. Maybe this is my motivation. lol
  12. Best of luck to you. And welcome new Edge Owner.
  13. I remember the first time I saw the Keyless ignition and intelligent access systems I totally thought it was dumb. Owning a car with it now, as cal3thousand states, it's incredibly handy. I imagine if your cargo wasn't purchased items but kids, it's probably the most awesome thing ever.
  14. NTFS will not work with Sync (MFT) on my 2011 Edge. Had to use FAT32. Everything was cherry after the formatting change.
  15. I'd recommend visiting a body shop. If you can post images I might be able to give you a pointer, but it's not my specialty.
  16. I personally liked the Cupholder based alternatives. I have a Garmin Nuvi 255W and this worked really well. http://www.arkon.com/cup_holder_mount.php
  17. I purchased my Edge in April, my brother purchased a Nissan in May. Both of us waited about a month for Registration in NJ, for what it's worth. EDIT: Sorry, brain-farted and confused terms. It was Registration for a month, not title.
  18. My MFT on my 2011 Limited with version 2.4 hasn't had any issues. Just wanted to throw that in there.
  19. I just read the article that the 2012 Explorer with the 2.0 Ecoboost is posted 20mpg City and 28MPG Highway. I know this article was a press release, but I don't doubt the Edge can provide 30mpg on the Highway (I'm surprised the projection isn't 31) I think the Torque rating is amazing on this motor, too.
  20. LOL. Good one. I agree with the other posted, check driving habits and fuel type. Also make sure you're using the right type of oil.
  21. I'm pretty sure it's one Muffler that splits to dual outlets (tailpipes). If I were by the car, I'd check. I'm sure you can find exhaust diagrams online with a little Googling.
  22. Rogersmj, go with a 4 gauge wire. It won't be that bad to run it to the back. Ford typically leaves enough room in the wiring channels for aftermarket power kits (since your SEL doesn't have the Sony system, you should have plenty of space). With the 4, you can potentially (key word is potentially) power 2 amps, for if / when you upgrade to utilized an interior amplifier, too.
  23. I'd install some filters on the interiors to cut off the lows. I do not have personal experience with the RE-Q5, but you can intercept the signal prior to where you install the filter.
