That fancy all chrome look really is pretty cool. Mine is getting pretty bad so I might speed up the process a bit and go Chrome. I do have a brand new one sitting in a drawer that the dealership handed to me under warranty a few years ago.

Znow, the caliper dust boot comment gets my attention because I only hear the creaking when braking from a slow role. I assume you're referring to the caliper piston dust boot? Mine were pretty dirty when I did the brakes a few months ago but, after cleaning them up, they did compress without distorting when I turned the piston back in. Also, I would think that bad sway bar links would make a lot of noise when going over speed bumps at slow speeds at various angles. I'm not getting the typical noises I've gotten from previous vehicles with bad sway bar links. This noise sounds like a door closing very slowly that's in desperate need of grease. I started noticing it about a year ago and it's gotten worse lately.

Thanks Mac, I'm gonna take a look this week. Might try spraying the crap out of the sway bar links with penetrating lube just to see if the sound goes away. Just watched your sway bar link replacement video and decided that you need to keep a nice pair of mechanics gloves handy. Did you end up removing the zerk fittings because of contact issues or did you just leave them in there???

Getting some creaking up front while braking and turning to the right. This is a 2011 SEL with 70,000 miles. Haven't crawled under there yet but I'm guessing sway bar links or strut mount noise. Anyone have the same thing going on????

I've been using them for about 4 years and they are fantastic if they work well with your vent style. There's just no quicker and easier way to mount and dismount a cellphone in a vehicle. I've purchased more then 20 from ebay and they've worked very well for myself and whoever I give them to. I just slide the thin plate between my phone and TPU case.

Not sure what trans I have but it has both the dipstick and level check plug. I haven't gotten her up to operating temp to check the dipstick yet.

Anyone know anything about the trans fluid level check hole? Wondering if ya have to have the trans at operating temp and vehicle running when the fluid seeps out or can do this cold.

OK, just got her drained. After getting a better look at the drain plug, there is another identical plug about 3 inches above it. I'm thinking you just remove the upper plug and fill with fluid until it seeps out this hole ( just like a differential). Not 100% sure about this so I'm still just gonna add the same amount I took out tonight. Really easy access to these plugs so it's not a big deal to do a quick drain and refill once in a while. Update: Took just under 5 qts and the old fluid was brown instead of bright pink. Wish I would have started doing the drain and refill thing a lot earlier. It's actually easier then changing the engine oil!!!!!

Finally getting around to doing a quick drain and refill on the 2011 SEL. Took a good look at everything tonight and it looks really simple. The 2011 has a dipstick down in front of the motor and the drain plug is obvious and easy to reach. Not quite sure how much will drain from a 2011 so I'm gonna measure how much comes out. I picked up 6 quarts of LV which I hope will be enough. I also noticed that a really long funnel will be required for the refill. Not gonna make a super cool Mercy Girl/Mac video but I'll post up how it goes tomorrow.

If you can make it to Labor day you may see some good deals at Discount Tire and Discount Tire Direct. I have a set of Yokohama YK 580's on my 2011 SEL that I picked up from DTD for $264.00 shipped to my door. I've only got about 10,000 on the YK's and they seem pretty good so far. Nice ride with a little road noise and they handled Michigan's mild winter just fine. I wanted to go with the Michelins again but felt that $250.00 per tire was a wee bit steep for the old SEL.

Now that's irritating!!!! I would take the arms completely off and run the wipers to see if the sound is still there.

I just hit 70,000 on my 2011 SEL and it's been a solid vehicle. I also leased a 2013 MKX for 20,000 miles and loved it. My next ride will definitely be a MKX and I'm thinkin a low mile 2014 is in my future. I have to agree with a few other posters that Ford went the wrong way with the 2015+ Edge's body style.

Not sure how hids perform in the 2015+ Edge projectors but I'm guessing 5000K would be a decent match running 35 or 50 watt ballasts.

Which LEDs did ya go with?

I, myself, like a softer ride which my 2011 Edge SEL does not have. I'm probably gonna go for Monroe Sensatracs when I get around to swapping them out. Driving my Edge really makes me miss the ride quality of my 14 MKX. It probably wouldn't matter so much to me if I didn't drive on Southeast Michigan roads.

Getting up there in age but still rockin!!! Lately it's been the Deftones, Tool/Perfect Circle, Chevelle and Breaking Benjamin.

I know exactly what that is, what the heck is that thing??? Did you follow the lines to see were they go?

I did get them seated correctly (even got that little nub lined up with piston groove!!) and did my standard test ride with about 5-7 hard stops. I thought they would quiet down after a break in period but I've now got about 600 miles on them. It actually sounds kinda cool but I wouldn't be to upset if they were nice and quiet. Mac, you didn't notice any extra noise when you drove yours without that one low frequency dampener?? Is your hearing still pretty good after spending so much time in that noisy garage I see in your videos???

Went with Wagner Thermos all around, new front rotors and had the back rotors turned. New brakes are perfect but just before I come to a complete stop they sound like a 747 landing. It's definitely rear pad on rotor noise but I've never had Thermos sound like this. Only thing I can think of is that I didn't get the low frequency dampeners tight enough. Anyone ever have a similar experience????

I gotta say this is a pretty sweet inexpensive fix for those suffering from this. Apparently some on here are smarter then Ford's engineers!!!!!

Definitely to kill engine noise and the 2010 and below can really use it. I actually did an insurance claim a few months ago cuz the mice ate mine along with the underhood insulation.

I say add a 6 inch suspension lift, trim the wheel wells a little and go for it!!!!!!

Not sure why but my Edge now sounds like a 747 coming to a stop after the new brake job. I used Wagner Thermos all around and Wearever rotors up front. Not a huge deal but I've always used Thermos and never heard brakes sound like this before. I can only hear it just as I'm coming to a complete stop.

My dealer handed me a new one for my 2011 when it was still under warranty a few years ago but I have not put it on yet. It's kinda sad that the part Ford uses to advertise their name brand is a piece of corroding junk. I'll take a better look at the old emblem when I swap it out to see if there's any way to prevent these from peeling and corroding.

Go sit in the corner and hang your head in shame!!!!! The 2016 MKX's are really nice!!!!!
