  1. What's the setup in the new Edge? Separate highs and lows? If so, are they both halogen projectors? Looking at pics online it almost looks like Ford is using a projector for the lows and a reflector for the highs.
  2. Tough call but I like the power and proven reliability of the 3.5. These days I would be tempted to go for the best MPG but I'm not sure if the 2.0 does that much better then the 3.5.
  3. I think they brought the wrong Edge to this party. Seems like a Titanium would have been a better comparison.
  4. Like others have said, make sure it's done by solid company. If they don't prime and seal the exposed metal properly, it won't take long for the roof line to start rusting.
  5. I sealed my relays with silicone and ziptied them next to the battery out of sight. Been a solid setup for just over 3 years in Michigan's salt belt.
  6. So is this a design flaw or a problem on the assembly line? I was thinking these leaky Edges were just missing a bead of body caulk but it sounds like it could be more then that.
  7. Not sure it's possible with LED controllers but a lot of us used industrial strength velcro to mount our HID ballasts in the factory locations. Mine are still rock solid after 3 years.
  8. I feel sorry for all of you going through this with a very expensive new vehicle. :cry:Ford has had water intrusion problems with lots of vehicles over the years including the Taurus and F150. They need to do better testing and inspecting before mass producing their vehicles!!!!!!!
  9. If the 6000's are to blue for ya I wouldn't hesitate to go back for the 5000's which should be a little brighter and whiter. I actually thought my DDM 5000's were too blue when I first installed them but I think it was just a little to big of a shock after driving behind halogens for so long. If ya start getting flashed by other drivers it's really easy to adjust them down a little which I had to do.
  10. I pretty much did all the exact same mods, except the tails, to my 2011. Yes, speakers make a huge difference compared to the plastic toys that Ford uses. The one other thing ya might want to do is convert all interior bulbs to led. Did you happen to find out what Hid kit he used along with the wattage and color temp?????
  11. http://slickdeals.net/f/7906659-infinity-primus-6-5-2-way-loudspeaker-pr6502is-factory-recertified-29-ac-free-shipping?v=1 Crutchfield says they don't fit the Edge but I would guess, with a little modding, they will. I've got some older 6 1/2 Infinitys in my 2011 SEL.
  12. Once the Jute carpet padding gets soaked it is extremely difficult to dry it. I had a similar problem with a 2004 Taurus and it took me about 4 days to dry that stuff with a fan in the summer !!!! If they don't get it completely dry it will eventually cause a mold problem. I had to fix the Taurus myself cuz two dealerships couldn't figure it out (AC drain tube clogged).

    Engine Cover

I went ahead and filed a mouse damage insurance claim today. $100.00 deductible works out fine cuz I need the front and back engine covers along with new hood insulation. I already checked the best I could for more damage but I'll have the dealership dig a little deeper.
  14. Most on here in the past have used 9006 kits myself included. I would do lots of research before you have them installed so you won't be disappointed. Find out the brand he uses, color temp, wattage and if he will be installing a harness. Durability should be a major concern cuz you could literally be left in the dark.
  15. Ask Mac!!! http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/14129-what-to-expect-at-200000-miles/
  16. Just noticed you're in Canada. I'm not sure how HIDs work with DRLs or if it's even possible. There are a bunch of HID threads in the Glass and Lighting section. I can tell you that the stock 9012 bulbs in your Edge are some of the brightest halogen bulbs on the market so there's not much, if any, room for improvement when it comes to bulb replacement. One night drive down a dark two lane road will probably get you looking for a brighter solution!!!!!
  17. I know you said you don't want to go down the HID road but I would think about it. After 3 years with a $40.00 DDM 35/5000 kit in my 2011 I can honestly say that it's the best upgrade I've made to my Edge. They really do work awesome in the Edge's halogen projectors and it's a super easy install if you go with a 35 watt kit.

    Engine Cover

My engine covers (back and front) and hood insulation were also destroyed by those little *****!!!! Pretty sure the covers are there for noise dampening purposes so I'll be ordering another one when I get a chance. I'm gonna see if my insurance will pick up the tab cuz I know they sometimes wave my deductible.
  19. Looking forward to results and pics. Someone else went with the LMZs on here but never posted pics. I'm a little skeptical how these will work in halogen projectors compared to how well HIDs work.
  20. I think it actually looks pretty good cuz it fits tight to the grill. Now lift that bad boy up, put 44" Gateway Monster Gumbo Mudders on it and lets do some 4 wheelin!!!!!!!!!! Does that Bull Bar have light tabs on it? If so, ya gonna add some?
  21. 2011 SEL 54,000 miles. My 11 sits outside in Michigan 24/7. I was just cleaning and rotating mine and noticed that the original Michelins are really starting to crack along the shoulder and rim. They were not cracking last year cuz I would have noticed it when applying 303. Still a decent amount of tread left but I'll be replacing them just before the snow flies with a set of Yoko YK580's that I have sitting in the basement.
  22. I'd go aftermarket. Nice double din head units with all the features you could want are really cheap these days and will sound much better then any factory stereo. Should be a really easy install.
  23. I have no problem running tires with plugs in them and have done so for many years. In your case, because the repair is so close to the shoulder, I would run that tire in the rear. Not sure if I'm correct but I would think a back tire blowing out is better then a front because of steering ability.
  24. I've been using plugs for 30+ years and never had one fail but that may be a little to close to the sidewall. Take it in and see if they think a plug and patch will be OK. They will know more when the tire is dismounted from the rim. Horrible aim, you really should have hit that nail an inch to the left!
