This just hit slickdeals but I'm not seeing any great deals on 245/60/18s this time around. https://slickdeals.net/f/10423748-discount-tire-labor-day-sale-up-to-320-on-tires-and-wheels-8-29-9-6?v=1 Should have jumped on this deal but didn't wanna store them for a year: https://slickdeals.net/f/10328304-cooper-discoverer-srx-105h-tire-245-60r18-set-of-4-300-after-pickup-discount-rebate-walmart?v=1&src=SiteSearch

Thanks Addi. I usually rent tools from Advance Auto for free but might pick up that same set from Amazon. I'm over in the Plymouth area.

I now have 33,000 on the YK580's and will be surprised if I make it to 50,000. Been doing a lot more city driving these days so I'm not to disappointed especially since we got them for $284.00!!!! I remember being happy with a set of Kumho's I had on a Taurus but that was many moons ago.
-
Did you use a spring compressor at home or did you run them up to a shop???? Thinking of just renting a compressor kit from Advance.

Torn between Motorcrafts and Monroe OE Spectrums. Kinda thinkin that Monroe's will provide the softer ride.
-
Thanks guys! It does sound more like a strut mount bushing. I can feel and hear it when going over even small bumps. Still deciding on strut brand but will go ahead and order the Motorcraft strut mounts this week.

2011 SEL 94,000. Checked front suspension and everything is tight including swaybar links. I know I have a strut bearing starting to growl a little but has anyone ever gotten any clunking from a bad front strut or strut mount????
-
Strut bearings can make some funky noises.

Didn't realize that Monroe was so bad these days. I always liked their Sensa-trac model and had them on many vehicles. I remember taking the fake Ranchos off my new 2003 F150 FX4 a month after I got it and installing a set of 4 Sensa-tracs. The roads in Michigan are so bad that I've always preferred softer shocks and springs. I no longer have my 2014 MKX but I really miss the soft ride compared to my 2011 SEL.
-
Has anyone installed a set of Monroe OE Spectrums??? I'm thinkin that Ford probably uses the cheapest junk out there and almost any aftermarket strut will be way better then stock.

If your Edge is in really good shape a Jasper or Motorcraft long block may be worth the cost. Michigan vehicles can get pretty rusty in 6 years so ya may wanna give it a good once-over before deciding. Just had some good friends put a Jasper in their 90,000 mile 2010 F150 for $6500.00 including labor. I think the motor cane with a 3 year warranty.

LED light in shifter console
fishx65 replied to roadkill401's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
That led lights up the gear selector in my 2011. I broke mine when I rewired the center console power point. Been thinking of getting back in there and trying to fix it. -
Mac, my 2011's front suspension is starting to knock a little while going over bumps. I already did the swaybar links. What usually goes first up front??? Just hit 90 Grand.

Best speaker choices for 2011 ford edge
fishx65 replied to mustangelite's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Pretty much any decent aftermarket speaker you use will sound 10 times better then the cheap toys Ford used in the 2011 Edge. These Kickers look decent for the clearance price: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/kicker-ks-series-6-x-8-2-way-coaxial-car-speakers-with-polymer-cones-pair-black/6432048.p?skuId=6432048- 1 reply

Paintless Dent Repair - parking lot ding in door
fishx65 replied to 1004ron's topic in Exterior & Body
Some of those paintless ding repair guys do amazing work and most insurance companies are happy to wave deductibles if you go the paintless route. The guy I use charges $40.00 to $60.00 per ding. -
I keep a log and change my oil between 6-7 thousand these days. I don't miss the old 3000 mile days at all.

Got the plugs and PCV changed today on my 2011. Went pretty smooth and took me about 2 1/2 Old Man hours. Plugs still looked pretty good at 90,000 and the gap was right at .065 on all of them. I did reuse the PCV Pipe thanks to Mac's video.

Struts and shocks, Motorcraft or KYB?
fishx65 replied to jonesboys310's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
I'm also in the market for new struts and shocks for my 11 SEL. I prefer a softer ride and have been satisfied with Monroe Sensatracs in the past but they are no longer making them. Maybe Monroe just changed the name to OE Spectrum? -
Not sure about leather but I consider the 2007-2014 Edge cloth seats some of the most comfortable out there. My 10 was a little softer then my 11. I'm sure body shape, age and injuries have a lot to do with how comfortable a seat feels to each driver. At the ripe old age of 52, I'm starting to like a car seat that makes me feel like I'm sitting on a Lazy Boy.

Didn't see that vid Mac but it definitely answers my question!!!!:) Gonna do the plugs on my 2011 next weekend and now I'll be prepared to swap in a new PCV valve.

Mac, just watched your video about assembling the PCV valve and tube for your 2011. Did you happen to try heat to separate the original tube and PCV so you could reuse the tube?????

Adding Bluetooth To Stock Radio
fishx65 replied to Ianmark's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I'd stick with a good brand name for a BT head unit. I always preferred Alpine way back in my car audio days but I'm sure Pioneer, Sony, Kenwwod, Clarion and many others make solid head units these days. Crutchfield might be a good starting point. -

fishx65 replied to Ianmark's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
The 2010 and below Edge's give you a ton of easy aftermarket replacement radio options and most will have Bluetooth. Wish it was easy to slide a new head unit in my 2011. -

You would have to switch it manually. Mine is always set to line in because I'm either listening to music through my phone or on a voice call.
