  1. All this is true but there are a few factory halogen "PROJECTORS" that do very well with HID bulbs and the 11+ Edges are one of them. The Chrysler 200 is another vehicle that has halogen projectors that work well with HIDs. I've never seen or heard of any factory halogen "REFLECTORS" that work well with HIDs.
  2. Those should be a ton brighter then the original ones you used. Have fun Macgyver!!!!!
  3. I think most of us used a 32mm Festoon with either 4 or 6 SMD 50/50 leds. The SMD 5050's are really bright. The first Festoons I purchased were not the 5050's and were really dim. Bosco's method is a very interesting and creative way to convert the Puddles to Led but I think the Festoon swap is brighter and much easier. I purchased my Festoons on E-bay for around $4.00 for the pair.
  4. I've read about people putting 845 over a good sealent but I've never tried it. I just use a very good sealent like Duragloss or Zaino Z2. Zaino Z2 is the most durable sealent I have ever used but Duragloss 105 is a close 2nd. I would guess that DG and Z2 are more durable then 845.
  5. RE, I was not that impressed with the 35/5000 DDM kit when I first installed it. My first test drives were in the city where it was really hard to tell how bright the new HIDs really were. After my first drive down dark deer infested roads I was blown away by how much brighter they were then the stock halogens. I would give yours a few weeks to see how they perform. Can't remember who, but someone on here that has both the 35 and 55 DDMs said there is not a huge difference in brightness between the two. I still think there is a good chance that Hidgeek kits are just junk. Smart move on the Morimoto harness!!!!!!
  6. I'm no longer gonna complain about how expensive everything is in the US!!!!!!
  7. Just out of curiosity C, how much is it for 6 qts of oil and a filter in Germany?
  8. Love the look of the new Fusion!!! Hows the build quality? Does it feel pretty solid like the newer Edges? I drove a new Escape a few weeks ago and it had a ton of road/engine noise and just didn't feel well built. Been a Ford man my whole life but they can be really hit-or-miss when it comes to their new vehicles. The Fusion should be an awesome seller for Ford if the quality is there.
  9. A clay bar could turn out to be your best friend but I would check with Richy first.
  10. I've had a 2010 and 2011 SEL. The 11 has much less road noise and just feels more solid. Pretty easy to install a hitch and light harness. There should be lots of SEL's out there without Mytouch. I also spend a lot of time in a 2010 Explorer and can say that it's really outdated. Terrible MPG and lots of road/engine noise. I know the Edge is smaller then an Explorer but it feels like it has more room for all passengers.
  11. V just returned my E-mail. They will no longer be selling these Type1 Switchbacks. These seem to be type 1's: http://www.ebay.com/itm/330861720875?_trksid=p5197.c0.m619
  12. Out of stock so I just sent them an e-mail to see if they will be restocking. Anyone know of another source for the Type 1's? V's type 1's are the only ones I know of that will work without resistors.
  13. More sidewall on the 18's should give a smoother ride. A tires air pressure will also make a huge difference.
  14. Just wanted to see how everyones Vled type 1 Switchys are holding out. Anyone have any problems with them yet? Looks like they are now $25.00 a set and I was thinking about ordering some.
  15. Cd's are definitely on their way out. I still use them but burn them in MP3 format which pretty much puts all my music on one disc. If I had a USB port on my Edge, I would just listen to all my music from SD cards. I think most are listening to music from their cell phones these days with a Bluetooth or hardwired connection. I took a quick look at Crutchfield and really liked the look and specs of that double din Alpine with Bluetooth for around $200.00. Those double dins have really come down in price. I would consider burning all your regular Cds to a single Mp3 disc. Can't remember the exact number but I think a regular CD will hold about 10 hours of music in Mp3 format.
  16. Lots of great aftermarket headunits out there that will do everything you need and more. Most will be way better then the factory radio. Good place to do a little research is crutchfield.com. I would not hesitate to go with a single din and dash kit. You will probably need an interface module to get your steering wheel controls to function.
  17. Hids may not work well in the 2010 and below halogen reflectors. If you end up with a horrible beam pattern or ya keep getting flashed there are a few halogen bulb options that work awesome with the older Edges. In my opinion, my 2010 with upgraded halogen bulbs put out more and better light then my 2011 with HIDs.
  18. Do a search for Hidgeek reviews. Sounds like a bad company with bad products and service. If ya can't get them to work properly, order a set from DDM or TRS.
  19. Is this for a 2010- or 2011+? Would love to see how it looks when ya get her done!
  20. Oil changes are really easy on our Edges. Takes me about 10 minutes and most of that time is spent waiting for the oil to drain. Nice thing is, I picked up 12 5qt jugs of Motorcraft 5W/20 when Advance was getting rid of them for $5.00 each!!!!
  21. I have the cheap DDM 35/5000 kit but I think Morimoto is the smart purchase. If I had done better research before I ordered the DDM's I would have purchased the Morimoto 35/4300 kit with harness. Sounds like the Morimoto harness is really well made but I would still cut it to the proper length for the Edge.
  22. I had to aim my headlights a little lower after installing a DDM 35/5000 kit in my 2011 SEL. It took me a while to get used to the type of light that HIDs project but now I really like it. We are very lucky that our halogen projectors work well with HID bulbs because not many do.
  23. I went from a 2010 SEL to a 2011 SEL. The 10 had a much softer ride which I liked but the 11 just seems more solid and better built. Like others have said, the 11+ Edges handle road noise a ton better then the older versions. If I was in the market for a used Edge I would definitely be looking at the 11+ models but would settle for a super clean 10- if one presented itself.
  24. Prinz, did you change the fluid and filter yourself? I have not done mine yet but I'm hoping it's the same as most I have done over the years. Drop and clean pan, install new filter, reinstall pan and add proper amount of fresh T-fluid. Is the T-pan gasket reusable?
  25. I did the same thing Haz did with the front mud guards. Looks great and helps a little but I still get a ton of crap on the sides of my 2011. I think it's just the price you pay for the wide tires. Ya could get bigger flaps or adjust them to stick out more but then looks would suffer.
