  1. If ya live in a snowy state I would always go for the Husky liners or Weather Techs. The Huskys do a better job containing liquids but the WT's look and fit better in the Edge. I have Huskys in my 2011 Edge.
  2. Not sure if it's smart but I just lightly spray everything with a mild cleaner, scrub everything, lightly rinse, towel dry and take her for a drive to dry. I don't cover anything like I did in the old days.
  3. I'm sure you could get all the parts from Ford but I think it would be really expensive. You might be surprised how well plug-n-play kits work in the Edge's halogen projectors.
  4. If ya look at some of the comments below kkrace's youtube video it sounds like Ford now has some way of cleaning the latch with a special tool. Could be BS but maybe worth investigating. Putting a new latch in does not look that bad if you have a little mechanical ability.

    Fuel Economy Help!

If I let my Dad drive my 2011 3.5 Edge for a few weeks it averages 18.5 MPG. I always keep it around 22 MPG driving in the same area. MPG drops like a stone if I don't always pay attention to the pedal and traffic.
  6. My 2011 SEL with 48,000 miles has done it about 3 times. I have not taken it in but I better before the 50,000 mile mark.
  7. What to expect at 230,000 miles? How about a new Vehicle payment!!!!! Joking aside, pretty impressive that she's still kickin. Any rust or still pretty clean????
  8. Looks like a nice kit KC. Lifetime warranty on the ballasts is very nice and I hope they prove durable and sell well for you.
  9. Maybe hit it with a good spray lube and see if the sound goes away and for how long. I would guess the strut bearings are getting dry or going bad.
  10. 2011 with 48,000 miles. Looks like I need about 1 quart to get it up to the Cold fill line. Think it's OK to just add a quart of distilled water?
  11. If ya can't replace defective parts yourself on the side of a road in the middle of the night, make sure your harness has dual relays so the chance of losing both headlights at the same time is remote. It might be kinda tough driving at night without headlights!!!! I think the Morimoto harness has dual relays and fuses. I run a DDM 35/5000 kit that has been pretty reliable but I did have a ballast die after 18 months of use. DDM did send me a new one after inspecting the defective unit.
  12. Zaino Z2 and Duragloss 105 are both awesome products at the same price point as NXT. NXT looks fine but only lasts a few weeks. I prefer Zaino because of how easy it goes on and off plus it lasts a few months longer then 105. My old bottle of NXT does ATV duty.
  13. Might work well in the Taurus's halogen projectors or might not. One thing to consider is the reliability of all these cheap Chinese hid kits. If I lose a ballast, bulb or relay I can pull over in the middle of the night and change a part with the spares I carry or put the halogens back in. Can your Dad do that????????
  14. I would jump on the Hidplanet forum to see if TRS is still having issues with their ballasts before you order.
  15. Besides losing the rear windshield wiper arm cover, the visors will get scratched up pretty good.
  16. If you are gonna keep a vehicle in the rust belt for a long time, it's worth rustproofing yourself or taking it in to have done. I also applied a thin layer of undercoating which I touch up each fall. 3M makes a pretty good rustproofing product for inside the hood and door seams. I'm sure manufactures could do a better job when it comes to rust protection but I don't think they ever will.
  17. I would not use a Magic eraser for fear of scratching the glass. Really soak it with a quality glass cleaner and use 2 or 3 clean microfiber towels. Super clean microfibers are the ticket.
  18. Dealership gave me a new emblem today which I'm gonna install myself. I want to try and seal the back seam with silicone before I install it so salt spray can't get under the clear coating. These newer ones are just plastic junk!!!!!
  19. Had mine replaced under warranty last summer and less then a year later the new one is doing the same thing. Gonna hit the dealership next week and see if they will replace it again even though I'm now past 36,000 miles. I would guess the damage is caused by salt spray but I never had this problem with my F150's.
  20. Funny you say that cuz I did order another complete kit. I have it stored in the spare tire compartment. As we say in upper Michigan " I ain't no Idiot!"
  21. Just thought I'd post this since so many on here are using DDM hid kits. I had a ballast go bad after about 18 months of service and decided to try my luck having it replaced. They do insist that you send the bad unit in for testing which will set ya back about 6 bucks. Email response was very quick and I had a new ballast, shipped from China, in about 3 weeks. Very happy with the way DDM handled this!!!!!!
  22. If ya stick your head in there at the right angle you can see how the tabs should line up. Ya gotta use a flashlight. Wish I would have known this the first time I installed a set of DDMs in my Edge.
  23. 2011edgese, how many miles are on your 2011? Wondering if I should take a look at mine.
  24. Should work just fine. Let the wait begin!!!!
